These are our new additions

Re: Improved Local Birds Breeds Project by epainos: 10:31am On May 09
Just yesterday, I was talking about starting to crossbreed various heritage chickens with local hen and broiler parents. We called several sources to see where we could get these breeds, and we discovered that none of them had 100% pure breeds. I strongly believe that to buy a 100% Fulani breed, one must travel to a genuine Fulani village with no other breeds present. Let's see. I am planning to import pure 100% breeds since it is Gulder Ultimate Search in Nigeria. And I am not sure of what I will get.

I like your project, and anyone who is into local chickens and noiler will definitely be interested in what you are doing.

Attached are the ones I am interested in getting. They will make excellent crossbreeds with the available local breeds here.

Finally, I do not believe we have any good F2 generation Noilers available. Honestly, we don't. The day-old chicks sold are not pure F2 chicks. I am not particularly interested in noiler, but just saying.

Good luck, bro!

What is Local Chicken Farming?
Local chicken farming is a type of farm practice that involves rearing local chickens, or indigenous chickens either for the purpose of egg production, meat production, or even feathers in some situations.

The benefit of Local Chicken Farming

* They can survive in harsh weather condition
Local chickens are rugged and have the tendency of withstanding and thriving under very harsh weather conditions.

* They are independent
Local chickens are independent animals, and they can fend for themselves by grazing in the field and feeding on different kinds of insects.

* The little fund is required
70% of the cost of rearing hybrid chickens is mostly spent on buying chicken feed, but this is not so in local poultry farming because only a little supplement of feed is mostly required.

* Management process is less stressful
In local chicken farming, the management system is not too technical and less tiring, unlike hybrid chicken farming that requires a lot of technical expertise to start up.

* They are immune to diseases
As a result of local chickens having a very strong immune system, they are mostly immune to diseases and don't fall sick easily

My candid opinion bro, don't crossbreed with boilers cock because noiler is a GMO product, my experience handling such project as you are doing now in time past are;
DOWNSIDE: The prototype (offsprings) don't usually give the result you have in mind before embarking on the project, this they are smaller in size compared to the parent ( cock).
Secondly, majority of the cocks are not potent enough to deliver results as hen ends up laying more stale eggs ( table eggs) than fertilized egg.
Last but not least, most of the hen ( offsprings)never go broody, even if they will do, it takes like eternity to happen.

The only good thing about them is that like the parent stocks, they combined the ruggedity and survival ability of their parents.

I am happy this about this comment. The only incorrect information is that Noiler is GMO. It isn't. One of the cocks used for noiler is among the ones I posted above. And this is the reason one should import them if one wants to be sure of getting a full real breed because Nigerians are so dishonest. I laugh at people who incubate noiler eggs. It is why the growth rate aren't that ok. I was chatting with one guy and he felt the fertilized f2 or f3 or even f4 sef eggs he is producing is extra special. I laughed inside and didn't say anything. I just made him feel like he is right so I don't offend him. Perhaps he will read this. If he does, good for him. Lol.

When I said GMO, I was referring to the fact that the gene pool has been tempered with, reason they are referred to as a HYBRID species, the purpose of the breeder for producing a hybrid is for the retention of survivability, good egg production and increase carcass quantity to surpass the quality of the parent stocks but by the time these are used in crossing same family stocks, you are bound to face many abnormality because the FILIAL issue comes into play here.

All the same, good luck with your endeavors, no risk, no reward

The pictures above does not contain any thing noiler there, those are stock images from google depicting of white leghorn australorp, cocchin and brahma and I think the latter looks like a wyandotte

You should have pointed the role of filial generation out to the guy because if he knows or was informed, he would have done better than wasting his time on something that will come out lesser than the original copy, infact some gets as small as a bantam chicken; as regards your assumption of having original F2 generation noilers in Nigeria, gone were the days it happened, when AMO OF SIEBERRA was still under the Indian ownership, today, every Jack, Dick and Harry is now a noiler producer, without knowing that for them to achieve quality, a lot of research and resources needs to be put in place,
In time past, I bought a particular set of noilers which against all odds refused to grow to their potential, they chowed my money beyond imagination, for close to 10 months old the hens I kept refused to grow and refused to lay, just looked over small even for a local of their age, I was forced to slaughter them all for consumption; whereas on the other hand, the last sets and several other sets I've done starts laying as early as four months old and reaches potential in five to six months

I gat you....but the way terms are used, we should be careful. When you say tampered with in breeding, it means you extract the desired genes traits chemically and insert it into another. But when you allow nature to do its thing, you won't say that genes are tampered with... even though technically, genes are modified. Just like humans. When a Caucasian sleeps with a Latino or black, then what we call hybrid in plants is produced. Even with IVF, which is also an equivalent of AI (artificial insemination), the whole sperms is taking, and there is no artificial gene traits extraction. You pull out the whole sperms (as a whole) and insert back. It is when you pull out the sperm or egg, and you use chemical on it to extract a particular gene trait you call it GMO or whatever in human.

I just want to point out the mistake we make when using terms. I gat you, but let's use the right breeding terms.

You are on point with all other points. Nice analysis, bro.

What are the parents of noilers? That's the question we need to ask ourselves first. From there, we can know if noiler is in the picture or not. Even if it is not, read my post very well. I wrote that I am interested in the so-called "heritage" chickens. The word heritage is the focus and not particularly noiler. But if you check well, there is a trace of noiler there. Won't say anything further in this regard cos I have learned to keep what I know to myself so I don't get many people angry. Say and pass on....that's my life now. Sure, they are Google pictures to show what I want to do. Did you read there that I wrote I have them already? I posted that, I was just discussing with someone recently. If the OP was interested in my post, he would have said something about it. But he passed by. Should I start forcing my opinion on him? Guy, person wey no wan pay attention to details go learn in a very hard way. Person wey feel his own way is the way....go learn na. Se you no learn the hard way as you have just posted? See...life is simple. I have seen that Nigerians especially feel threatened with someone who always put them in the right way... They will always take it bad. So, na wisdom be all now. If OP is not a careless person, he should have asked himself, "Why that message?" But he is focused on his thing...displaying them that he is doing them....so, let him display his might and wisdom na.

God will help us all.

The above bolded part....hmmm. Sir, life is a lesson. When you get to a stage, you just learn how to let people fail. Someone who was so serious about his fertile eggs? I dont want to go into details, but these days, I have learned to be wise even more than Kimg Solomon. I allow people to do that which is in them. Na to dey look them. I used to want to save souls....see...the souks that want to go to hell ....I don't try to save from going to the express highway. If God decides not to interfere and allow such to perish, who am I? I used to do that until God revealed it to me that even Jesus the savior did his thing and did not try to save everyone, and he is still not trying to. He who needs what I have only needs to ask. It is only those who ask God and desperately seek help that God saves. So, I have learned. Sir, NEVER ....I repeat...NEVER will I teach or try to save people. NEVER again! Any wise fellow who values my input will ask for help.

I opened a thread on broilers parents and asked people to come together (not even my idea, but someone innthe thread gave me the idea), those who spoke to me privately...I gave out the company that I want to use. I was even surprised that many of them don't know that the company exists. Guess what? Only one person was willing to work in a team. Though, they all makde inquiries and they know they cannot afford to do the minimum number the company sells, they still want to go ahead and do it by themselves cos they think they can make the money like that. Only one person... but unfortunately, we have no way forward. That's it. I put my ideas forward, and if they want to follow my leadership, I will put down my time to lead the team. But if they come to ask me questions to be their own inventor... no problem, I will still answer them. But that thing that made me ask people to coke together...se me sef no wan be "jam jam" of the business? Yeah... they want to monopolise it na. And many have trust issues. No wahala. That trust issue.....I have dealt with it, and I don't trust easily too again.

Here is my point... anyone who is serious and attracted to my style will ask questions. If not, na so a go dey look.

May God help us all. Amen. I'm not saying more on this issue. Those who want to keep using chemicals should continue... Those who want to fall into the scammers hands can end up there. And those who are told to act as guides should continue to be gods. If I need anything, I will ask here politely. If God puts it in my heart to drop anything cos He always tells me to obey even go to where I don't want to like Jonah...I still obey. If I have my way...I think...people shouldn't read these posts ... but when the owner of life keeps telling me not to stop...who am I?

So, please.... no matter what one does, the world will still complain. And I don't really send anymore.

Finally, the message God is telling me to pass across now is sustainability and wellness. Guy, tap into organic production for yourself and family oooo. Na beg a dey beg una now. Eat your noilers....feed them organic food. You can start with commercial feed but no antibiotics and Vaccines...gradually learn how to grow bugs and leaves for them. Grass fed meat is what we need, and not grains fed. Please live long.

I am done with this thread here. Any further comment is over doing it. So, I take my leave here.

Goodluck to everyone.
