Justice Vincent Agbata of the Anambra State High Court, Nnewi Division, has said that 90% of lawyers do not prepared their cases before coming to court

Agbata stated this on Tuesday at his court in Nnewi while welcoming a new wig( a lawyer newly called to the bar.

The new lawyer( name withheld) was introduced to the court by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Reverend Father (Dr) Edwin Obiora.

Father Obiora who said the new lawyer was called to the bar in March, said she graduated from the Abuja Law School.

Welcoming the new lawyer, the presiding judge, Justice Agbata, enjoined her to keep on reading law, especially the Evidence Act.
He said,"Keep on reading law. Get yourself the Evidence Act and make it familiar with you.
"Over 90% of lawyers don't prepare their cases before coming to court. This is the truth."

Justice Agbata said the trend cut across both old and new lawyers.

Continuing, Agbata said, " When we were newly called to the bar what we did was to bring up everything we were taught in the university and Law School in Evidence Act and start reading them afresh."

Can't blame them. Nigeria is a LAWLESS nation.

You could quote case laws and cite precedence until Jesus comes and NOTHING will come of it. In Nigeria, FAT envelopes win cases.

Plus you could prepare like someone going off to war and win the case just to have institutions like the Police or Government bodies BLATANTLY disregard the judgement.

Law in Nigeria is just an intimidation tactic.
