If you believe that some courses are irrelevant in Nigeria, I will not disagree. Some even argue that even before the internet existed, these courses were what they are now. They aren’t just feasible. The spread of digitisation and technical innovation has made some fields more demanding. Yes, everyday discoveries tend to relinquish the importance of so many fields in schools. Notwithstanding, some courses are still performing exceptionally well in the labour market—both profitable and useful.

If you are good and knows your way around, Civil Engineering is a very lucrative course here in Nigeria or abroad.
In fact any course that enables you to establish on your own with some work experience and little capital is lucrative.

No course pays better than others. It depends on connection. After all, what did Bayo Onanuga at Aso Rock study? He never studied any of those courses mentioned. He talks like a bushman, a hottentots.

To be fair, their chances are equal in getting a job in an oil company. The Pet Engr person even has more opportunities in the downstream sector of the petroleum industry compared to the Geology individual.

However, Elect/Elect is better than both courses.

If you want a high-paying job regardless of the industry, study a math-based course. The more calculations and numbers a course has, the higher its chances of being lucrative. Also, if you plan to relocate from Nigeria, the math-based course gets more job opportunities and funding.

Please I use to think computer science are hot cake until I mate a graduate of computer science who can't operate all the components of Microsoft word. Is overrated now

Computer Science is not about MS Word o. It is data structures and mathematics. It is not by knowing MS Word a Comp Sci grad would get a job. It is the ability to know data structures and algorithms that matter. The alternatives to Comp Sci are Physics and Mathematics.

There is nothing like "high" paying courses in Nigeria. Read your respective courses and graduate with good 2.1 or first class. Then, proceed and develop your data skills, quantitative and mathematical skills, writing skills, job search skills, networking skills and street smart skills, You may not be far from achieving modest success in your job hunting.

This is a better summary. But I am inclined to say that those who study math-based courses are better positioned to get good jobs faster than those who don't. Anyone can develop those attributes you mentioned with relative ease, but not so for learning mathematical skills after tertiary education.
