Ofada Rice is the short, robust and brown rice planted mostly in Ogun State and some other states in western Nigeria.  It is identified with brown stripes because it is unpolished.

When cooked, it emits the unique Ofada Rice aroma that is often the first attraction.

Ofada Rice is very different from other rice.  It is unpolished rice , and non-genetically modified.

Romance / Re: Can People Marrie Without No Dating? by AmakaOne(f): 3:31pm On Aug 26, 2008
In my opinion, people who want to just run to the altar without courtship either have serious self esteem issues or have something serious to hide.

Why would you not want your future spouse to know what type of person you are before they are bound to you for life?
Marriage is about more than love. it's about compatibility, shared values, ambitions dreams etc.

Talking about "If God chooses him/ her for me "or If "I love him other then that is enough".

Arrant nonsense if you ask me.

If anybody tells me I will marry you because God showed me you in my dream i go slap the crase commot for hin bodi o!
Na yam!

Religion / The Cross by AmakaOne(f): 1:16pm On Aug 26, 2008
A young man
Was at the end of his rope,
Seeing no way out, he dropped to his knees
In prayer

"Lord, I can't go on," he said.
"I have too heavy a cross to bear."

The Lord replied,

"My son,
If you can't bear its weight,
Just place your cross
Inside
This room.

Then, open that other door
And pick out any cross you wish."

The man was filled with relief and said,
"Thank you Lord," and he did
As he was told.

Upon entering the
Other room, he saw many crosses;
Some so large the tops were not visible.
Then, he spotted a
tiny cross

Leaning
Against a far wall.

"I'd like that one, Lord," he whispered.

The Lord replied,
"My son that is the cross you just brought in."

When life's problems seem overwhelming,
It helps
To look around and see
What other people are coping with.

You may consider yourself
Far more fortunate than you imagined.

Whatever your cross
Whatever your pain
There will always be sunshine
After the rain

Perhaps you may stumble
Perhaps even fall
But God's always there
To help you through it all

Funny how you can send
a thousand "jokes" through
E-mail and they spread like wildfire,
But when you start sending messages
Regarding the Lord,

People think twice about passing it on.

What is the local or market  name for Habanera pepper ?

What about somebody that has no oven, any other alternative?

You can use ata rodo (Scotch bonnet pepper) but be very careful shey u know ata rodo is very hot?
If you don't like your stew too hot you can limit it to just one.

If you don't have an oven you could fry the meat like you would if making regular stew I guess

Food / Re: How Do I Prepare A Unique Stew? by AmakaOne(f): 10:08am On Aug 22, 2008
1 large fish (cleaned & gutted)
450g / lb fresh tomatoes
225g / 8oz fresh chillies
3 tablespoon tomato puree
1 large onion
2 lemon
6 oz groundnut-oil
pinch of thyme and curry
salt to taste

Clean and gut the fish Cut into medium size pieces and wash thoroughly with the lemons. Place in a bowl and season with salt thyme and curry. Leave aside for 15-20 minutes to absorb seasoning. Heat some oil in a frying pan and fry the fish.

Grind the tomatoes onions and peppers. Heat oil in a pot add the ground ingredients and cook for 20 minutes until fairly reduced. Blend in tomato puree and add the fried pieces of fish. Season and gently simmer for additional 10minutes. Remove from heat and serve with boiled rice yam or plantain.

You should use a firm white fish for this dish I prefer fresh halibut, white tuna and tilapia

Food / Re: How Do I Prepare A Unique Stew? by AmakaOne(f): 6:11pm On Aug 20, 2008
Different types of meat need different cooking times and taste better if cooked slightly differently.

Beef takes the longest to cook.

Chicken a shorter time and fish the shortest.

That why I was asking what kind of stew you would like to make as in what meat?

But most people don't seem to mind eating chicken.
Shebi TFC and KFC and Nando's are still doing good business wink

Good luck with your assignment

Food / Re: How Do I Prepare A Unique Stew? by AmakaOne(f): 5:37pm On Aug 20, 2008
What kind of meat do you want to use?
goat, beef, chicken, mixed meats?

here's a recipe for chicken stew

ngredients

1 large chicken, washed and jointed into ~12 pieces
225g fresh scotch bonnet chillies
1kg fresh tomatoes, ground
2 large onions, ground
2 cloves garlic
1 small tin tomato purée
I tsp thyme
2 onions, sliced
1 tsp curry powder
57Oml groundnut oil
salt to taste

Season the chicken pieces with salt then add to a pot along with the onions, thyme and curry powder and cook in a little oil for some 35 minutes, until tender (stir frequently). Grind the 2 large onions, chillies and tomatoes together in a food processor. Add the remainin oil to a separate pot and fry the ground tomato blend in this for 20 minutes, until fairly dry. Add the tomato purée and a little stock, stir thoroughly then add to the fried chicken pieces. Bring to the boil then simmer gently for a further 10 minutes, stirring frequently. Drain off any oil that rises to the surface.

Serve with boiled rice or fried plantain.

Romance / Re: Nigerian Men And Flowers by AmakaOne(f): 11:11am On Aug 20, 2008
Hmm at all the responses.
It's all a bit off topic sha
.
Nobody said giving flowers was the ONLY WAY to express love or be romantic.

the question was "Why Do Nigerian Men Not Give Flowers?" NOT "What Can Nigerian Men do for their loved ones in lieu of giving them flowers?"

All this thread diverting and pots from Walmart and taking second wives nonsense is not answering the question .
or am I missing something?
