School Fees Increase:


The truth is that, the school fees have been increased again and unfortunately we
can't do anything about it.
Though, Education to be factual world over is costly. But in Nigeria, most at times
we don't really get the quality we need.


As for the president, he's really disappointing big time and unfortunately talks too
much ( Which is not supposed). Also, he is coming out to always defend the
school actions as if that is his business. He should realize that the school don't
CARE about his opinion if they want to do anything. Though he connects with
UNILORITES well but it is becoming too much.


As for the S.U.G, and student Unionism at large in Nigeria, the bitter truth is that,
it's dying a natural death as expected (In fact I don't know the essence of it). If
you think only UNILORIN is a culprit, you must have a rethink, what has happened/
recently happened in OAU points to that. The school authorities despite the strike
didn't reneged in its increment nor decreased the fees. They were at home for
some months and there's nothing to show for it.


The students too are not helping matters, if the S.U.G wants to protest this, many
students will definitely oppose them (After all, nobody wants to be at home for
strike). In fact if they insist, and continue, when frustration sets in, many people
will give up.


For the government, they should try to fund the universities as supposed, because
that's the excuse of our school managements for increments in fees. It is their
responsibility to do this, to the best of their ability so that issues like these won't
continue coming up always.


Finally, the school authority have had its way in this one (I doubt if there will be a
decrease). They should justify what they are doing with this money, and also tell
us why there's an increase. They should also try to carry the union leaders along
whenever decisions like this is to be made ( I doubt if they did, following the
president's reaction).


Fellow UNILORITES, I know it hurts, it pains me too as I am penning this down,
that there's an increment again. But, if you critically examine issues (There's little
or nothing that can be done by us) including the S.U.G, Let's continue praying for
ourselves and parents that God continues to enrich us all, and may he never make
our pockets DRY.
