Guys, please I need your advice and guidance..

I'm very good in html and Css but I'm having problem with javascript. I don't seem to get it even with loads of video tutorial from YouTube and udemy. Maybe, it's because this is a real programming language unlike html and Css that happens to be an ordinary markup language and styling sheet...

Please, is it possible to learn this stuff myself coupled with the fact that I'm still in school with some crazy assignments and test ready for me?

Or I should look for money and go learn it at an ICT centre?

Note: I'm a computer science student currently being taught C++ as one of our courses but my lecturer is only teaching us what to write to pass her test and exams.

Who told you programing is easy, but the truth is that it can be learned. Don't be too hard on yourself, be patient and plan your studies for the next few months.

Come and read what you wrote in few months from now after following the above procedures!

You may need a mentor or a training school. Everyone cannot self learn. Don't condem yourself yet.

Search for this book "Andy Harris' HTML and CSS for Dummies ", though the name says HTML and CSS, there is JavaScript, Php, MySQL in it. Infact, bro, the book is great. Try it, hope it helps.

Note: I'm also a CSC student that is fed up with the way they teach CSC in my school.

Thank you sir... I just search through my tutorial folder and realize I have it. I will go through the book even though I prefer learning through videos.

A million thanks for your advice...

Talking about constant practice, should I stop learning from tutorials and start building real life projects with javascript from videos on YouTube just like someone advised me...

Another thing is, I already know the syntaxs, operators, and familiar with javascript methods and what they are used for, but writing it offhand myself to build something is a big issue...
How do I cope with this sir?

Note: I started learning javascript early January of this year.

This is exactly what you need. Build a project, since you're familiar with it, writing it would make it stick. It might not stick once, but you'd know that you've written it before.

Work on a project, maybe one of the static sites you have, take it, add a bit of functionality to it using JavaScript. "Search for what you want to do and see what people have to say online".

Even the bosses of bosses still check Google. The steps are simple
Pick a project that involves js, Google things a lot which helps you learn more, and keep building and writing codes. Google more

YouTube also helps once in a while!

If you reside in PH, you can contact me.

Not everyone can easily learn their first programming language on their own so don't feel bad, its normal.

Was in your shoes once, and still would be in the future. You'd reach a stage where you feel like giving up, that you are not cut out for it it. It isn't easy. you start doubting if passion alone can get you through. Guess what...? the next day you are back in it deep, it's a roller-coaster ride.

A few months ago I detested javascript, got some good tutorials, little by little I forced myself to learn it when I realized it the future of web development. Now I'm learning node.js even tho I have a bad habit of not building projects as proof of my skills. I just roll.

Keep pushing bro. ain't gonna be easy. prepare for more moments like these.

My advice is dont LEARN programming, USE programming.
A programming language is just a tool, think of a project you want to develop choose a good programming language then use google , stack overflow etc till you complete that project.

I'm also thinking of moving to node. js or React. js when I discovered that there's another part of javascript called Es6 I need to learn...

If you don't give up, you will understand it. There is nothing there that can't be understood. It sometimes takes time and effort.

My advice is learn programming, and use programming language(s) to build projects. You may succeed in googling your way to a working project. But at times when things go wrong you find it hard to fix and may atleast provide a stack trace or snippet of your errors/code to get help. If it happens that the project is so security aware, then you might have derailed your train in advance.

Probably you did not see the right material to use.
I picked js three months ago, before the second month, have built a lot of stuff with it.
Here are some materials/tips
• Eloquent JavaScript (eBook) the best have come across.
• w3schools.com : they have all web tutorials, u can download the offline app on play store
• Build while learning (you don't get fit by just reading gym book);
• Find a mentor/mentors : I'll be glad to help
• Learn how to google, anything you want is here
• Finally, learn to ask for help when u re stuck..js bugs could be painful

Yes you'd need to know es6 and above to learn react but native javascript is enough for node.js.

Also depending on your taste you should master css frameworks ie bootstrap, bulma, material css, semantic UI to create awesome looking UI. I say this if you are interested in only web design UI UX.

my advice would b to simply work at ur own pace. Dont strain ur mind but strive to understand the basics well. It will take time to go from understanding d language syntax to knwng how to build a large project. So, just keep absorbng knowledge, there's no shortcut. Your mind actually has to EXPAND to accomodate d new learning. This takes time. You cant rush it. Alternative is to find a good, proven, preferably 1-on-1 teacher/mentor to take u on. This will save YEARS of ur life.
Your teacher teaching u,c++,does she program professionally in it? Has she written any significant software in it?

Programming is never always easy. You must have the passion for it and see it as a hobby...that's when you'll begin to understand what it's all about.

Recently, a friend sent me a YouTube video on python. When I opened it, I discovered the length of the video was over 4 hours. You have to be passionate about programming before you can glue yourself to your laptop screen watching a video of close to 5 hours.

If you don't have the passion for it, you'd easily get bored and loose interest.
