Wizkid's Made In Lagos Album- My Perspective by XXLMANDIGO: 5:06pm On Oct 30, 2020
I listened to the album earlier this morning

I am clearly not a naysayer and this is not a truculent criticism of Starboi as I have a long repertoire of Wizkid's song especially the Old quality ones he has churned out in the past years, but Wizkid materials and content have declined as he appears less desirous of keeping up the template of the competition and long standing creative rivalry between himself and Davido.

His works are below par and some, if not all of the songs on the album(Wondering what the Lagos spice is on the album) are uninspiring, bland and far from being Jaw dropping. What could be wrong with Wizkid, and can he keep up with the pace and expectations from the music lovers especially the youth demographic.

No Wonder Omah Lay has successfully displaced him as the melodious Humming bird he used to be. Wizkid should invest in Songwriters if he intend to keep up with the fast paced industry and the talented upcoming acts we haven't seen yet in this terrain.

Hype and Past records cannot save an entertainer because attention deficit is rampant in the world and it's easier for people to dispense with you if you are not consistent and can't give new vibe. Wizkid can do better.

Front-page lalasticlala.

Lyrically and melodiously, you can’t bring Wizkid and Omah Lay in same sentence. Presently, Omah Lay is way ahead Wizkid Lyrically.

Wizkid is using his old glory, that’s all. If Wizkid is an average artist and he dropped this wack as an album, believe me, na only em family members go buy or download the album.

Will you just STFU please.....

I was taking you seriously until i saw that davido's part.....

You are supposed to be slapped for even making a comparision between davido and wizkid

Wizkid is a legend in the industry and he is every musician's musician

Well back to the topic; you guys wont be able to vibe well to wizkid's recent songs cos he is no longer a local artiste

I mean; he only does songs that can be vibed to by his foreign fans and songs that can be nominated for grammys and co

So he doesnt fvcking care if his songs are sold in naija or not

One thing i will say is " try your best and leave the rest "

Wizkid is trying his best
And everyday he keeps expanding with his music .

It is not easy to write songs
Also not easy to record songs back to back and the songs not to sound alike .
Most especially a musician will never stay with one style of music { because i can see through what you wrote that you want songs like Motivitional songs as he's used to back then }
Wizkid thinks more on LOVE and SHOWS and thats where money comes from .
Omah lay is doing his things in the best he could and he's not chasing anybody
Likewise Rema .

I am a song writer and i know what it takes to write songs . It is not easy
From hook to verse { the progression ! }

So apt and on point. Wish he can do something to his dwindling musical Career and fortune. He should ask Akon how his monotonous style brought him low from being Lady Gaga's Record Label Huncho to an African Local Champion who can do Collabo with anyone for a couple thousand dollar. Pitiful.

Wizkid should learn from the people of the past.

To be taken serious in a public space like this, you should try to be less emotional with your arguments. It paints you as being insecure.

I repeat, to an avid music lover, NO STRESS , SMILE and GRACE could be said to be struggling efforts or forced inspiration. That Album is Bullock to me, rudderless and with no direction. Nothing in the album gives credence to the Lagos tag or franchise , even his desperate attempt to replicate Skepta's BAD ENERGY success in LONG TIME also fell like a pack of card.

World over people listen to Melody and that's why Ed Sheeran is the biggest Pop Male artiste around. He attained such great for his consistency , melodious and sonorous music. No one wants to wait for minutes to look for catchy and vibrating tunes anymore. People are getting more attention deficit and you have to do a lot
of work and give original contents to retain your fan base and make the ones indifferent to your music or genre to crossover thereby creating broader appeal.

No amount of whitewashing can make this album less than a mediocre work.

I painstakingly rate him 3/10

Wizkid even lack lyrical depth, content and the lack of original Melody/tunes in the album makes it very glaring.

I can put my money on occasional comeback from Dbanj than on the present day Wizkid.I am not trying to downplay his efforts but it's crystal clear this is not Weezy of the good old years.

Something is seriously amiss undecided

I've listened to the album too and I mostly agree with you.

the most glaring problem I noticed was a lack of lyrical depth

I so love Ed Sheeran's songs because the lyrics go together so much and the melody is simply mind blowing

Wizkid is just like Drake, both are overhyped rubbish, and they're both over rated too,I haven't downloaded anything from the album because I know it'll be crap,it will not be as much as I expected it would be.

Burna Boy's Album Twice As Tall,is definitely over rated too, I'll be waiting for Davido's album, A Better Time.
Speaking of Burna,I saw here on Nairaland how some people made fun of Davido's Fem, comparing it with Burna's Monsters You made, To be honest both are outright shit, when I say shit,I mean Piss and Shit ( Faeces ), the latter's song gat too much noise and crap than the former but the only thing there is the lyrics are good, but if you don't give me a good song and most importantly a good beat man Bleep that shit, I'd go with Lucky Dube Money or even Davido Intro, the noise for Burna own too much pass Fem self.

Most Importantly, judging between The African Dwarf who couldn't practice what he preaches and Wizkid, I'd say both of them are just some bleeped up drug and alcohol addicts and arrogant bastards, and if their faces was to b in a paper, I wouldn't wipe my ass with it. <sad

What do you guys mean when you say foreign fans? Cuz I'm bewildered. How does that album appeal to foreign fans?

Ojuelegba song by wizkid brought him into international limelight. The so called "Foreign fans" hyped the song and enjoyed it. That was a pure Youruba/Naija song. So why switch styles dey sing rubbish to appeal to the same fans? Same dumb stuff Dbanj did.

Sing your songs the way you love it. Wizkid was brought up in Ojuelegba. Confirm Yoruba boy! I no sabi where him see all these carribean sounds wey him sing these past few years. It obviously doesn't suit him.

I miss the Wizkid of those days.

Obviously he has run out of content and Melody and he wouldn't try invest in songwriters. His last commendable effort is in DJ Tunez start studded single PAMI. I truly always look at for Wizkid's touch but for a long time it has been missing for a long time.

Drake is overhyped ..

You have to be listening to only dolly Parton and angel Micheal or better still you're singing and the kind of songs you want to listen to

Oh I don't song my own songs broaa,I listen to good songs,I don't care who sings them,as far as it's got a good bit and a nice lyrics, it's cool with me.
Listen to Ace Hood__Trust The Process.

It's Hip Hop though, but a few of the lyrics are ......

Nothing ever comes to sleeper but a dream
Nothing worth having comes easy as it seems
Even when it's tough keep on pushing that's the concept
Keep your head up,keep the faith and trust the process.

And talking about patriotism and stuff, listen to Lucky Dube Teach The World, and Freedom Fighter, he might now be as good Burna in terms of accomplishment, but at least he practices what he preaches.

Besides,I typed that I love Davido Intro.

I also love Burna Boy Dangote too, good beat good lyrics.
