Has Mourinho Failed @ Madrid?? by MrAladin: 10:27pm On May 01, 2013 |
It was perfect combination. Jose Mourinho leading his special pack of players to a tenth Champions League triumph but it has been anything from perfect for the Special One at Madrid. Rumours of a split dressing room were among the negative vibes from Mourinho time at Madrid. Madrid were so close to a Wembley final but yet so far. An admirable 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund was not enough to stop the Germans from the second Champions League final in their history. With rumours that he will leave this summer, Mourinho’s three year reign at the helm of Madrid seems to have come to a disappointing finish. Despite thrusting millions into a squad full of world class players, Mourinho couldn’t inspire Los Blancos to that illusive tenth Champions League success. “Maybe not. I like to be where I’m liked,” is what he said when questioned about his future with Madrid. It seems as if Mourinho has had enough of Madrid and Madrid enough of him. Mourinho seemed to have given up on trying to build a team from this group of individuals. This Madrid team has let him down. The players have offered him a lack of support, which is nothing like his time with Porto, Chelsea and Inter Milan where he shared a special relationship with the players. This Madrid team and even their fans seemed to struggle to adapt to the Mourinho way. Mourinho’s time has been successful to an extent. One La Liga title, a Supercopa and a Copa del Rey and with a final against Atletico Madrid to come, there is a chance Mourinho will add to his trophy collection. However, Mourinho will leave Madrid on the back of his third successive semi-final elimination. He has failed to deliver what he was appointed for. The Special One’s time at Madrid was ordinary at best. Three years on from his appointment it seems little progress has been made. |
