A Magistrate’s Court in Osogbo, Osun State, has remanded a 57-year-old man, Sunday Adeyeye, in prison for allegedly defrauding people on the pretext that he is a car dealer. According to the charge sheet, the accused person allegedly defrauded one Seyi Ojo to the tune of N1 million on the pretence that he would supply him a car.
Adeyeye was said to have committed the offence in Osogbo, where he also claimed to have a depot.
A personnel of the Department of State Security (DSS), Mr. Michael Ubi, told the court that Adeyeye committed a punishable offence under Sections 419 and 516 (A) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol. II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the allegations levelled against him, and his counsel prayed the court to grant him bail.
But the judge, Magistrate Olusola Aluko, insisted that counsel to the accused person should make a formal bail application, and ordered that the accused person be remanded in Ilesa prison custody. The case was adjourned till August 14, 2013.
