Higher Everydɑy TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 2018 APPRECIATION TEXT: 1 THESSALONIANS 5:18 "In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you" (1 Thessalonians 5:18). David Steindl-Rast said that, "The root of joy is gratefulness. It is not joy that makes us grateful; it is gratitude that makes us joyful." Author Leo Buscaglia told the story that, one night his father returned home and announced that he would likely go bankrupt because his partner had run away with their firm's funds. His mother went out and sold some jewelry to buy food for a sumptuous feast. Other members of the family were angry and scolded her for it. But she told them that, the time to thank God was then. She spent over two hours to praise the Almighty God on the matter. There are young people pursuing joy in every avenue imaginable. Some find it while others do not. Perhaps it would be more important to describe where joy can be found. It cannot be found in unbelief. Real joy is found in Christ alone. Joy results from obedience to God's word. The joy of your salvation should make you thank and praise God. It is good to thank God in everything and God will bless you. • Chɑllenge: "Do you always thank God for everything?" • Prɑyer: "Lord, I appreciate all that you have done for me. Thank you." • Quote: "It is good to thank God in everything" • Bible Reɑding in one Yeɑr: Hebrews 13:15 See more here:

Higher Everydɑy WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2018 THE GOOD SAMARITAN TEXT: GALATIANS 5:14 "For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself" (Galatians 5:14). Jesus Christ gave a vivid picture of who a good neighbour is in his characteristic parable of the Samaritan man (Luke 10:25-37). Responding to a lawyer, who wanted to inherit eternal life, Christ recounted the story of a man who was attacked and severely wounded by robbers on his way from Jerusalem to Jericho. Unfortunately, a priest and a Levite passed by and did not stop to show him compassion. It was only a certain Samaritan who showed the wounded man mercy and love by treating him, taking him to an inn where he paid the bills for his treatment. The Lord expects you to behave like the Samaritan, because good neighbourliness means having compassion and being able to meet the needs of someone in need. Each time you have the opportunity, be a good neighbour to the person who needs love and help. Compassion, sacrifice, mercy and care should be the central things that define your relationship with a neighbour. • Chɑllenge: "Do not neglect any opportunity to do good" • Prɑyer: "Help me, o God, to be like the good Samaritan." • Quote: "Be a good neighbour." • Bible Reɑding in one Yeɑr: Matthew 7:12, Romans 13:8, Leviticus 19:18 See more here: 1 Like 2 Shares |

Higher Everydɑy THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2018 RICHES OF HUMILITY TEXT: 2 CORINTHIANS 9:11 "Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God" (2 Corinthians 9:11). A beggar shuffled into the banquet hall of a devout king and sat down at table, gorging himself with food. Without saying a word, the beggar left the room. The king's guests were furious and asked permission to seize the tramp and tear him into pieces for his ingratitude. But, the king replied: 'That beggar has done only once to an earthly king what each of you does three times each day to God. You sit there at table and eat until you are satisfied. Then you walk away without expressing one word of thanks to God. Do you always appreciate what your parents do for you every day? Don't have short memories of what was done for you yesterday. Deeply appreciate God for the past and recognize those who labour to get you to where you are today. Thank God for every good or bad thing that happens to you. "By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life" (Proverbs 22:4). Beloved, give thanks always. • Chɑllenge: "You have an obligation to be appreciative always" • Prɑyer: "Lord, take away any tendencies to being always ungrateful from me." • Quote: "Give thanks always." • Bible Reɑding in one Yeɑr: 1 Corinthians 1:5 See more here:

Higher Everydɑy FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 2018 GOD'S TREASURE TEXT: DEUTERONOMY 28:12 "The Lord shall open unto thee His good treasure, the heaven to give thee rain unto thy land in his season and to bless all the work of thine hand, and thou shall lend unto many nations and thou shall not borrow" (Deuteronomy 28:12). The Quaker family lost much of their wealth and influence simply because of their Christian faith and sacrifice in bringing men to Christ. But they were later blessed with abundant wealth. Through the production of beautiful light oats, cherry, coconut cookies, and other recipes, Quaker Bakers earned great reputation for honesty, and others preferred them as partners in business. They became a relatively wealthy segment of the population in a surprisingly short period. Righteous riches will come to you from heaven when you have given your fife to Jesus completely as Quaker's family did. This is what God will do for you; you will enjoy the riches of the Gentiles as God promised in Isaiah 60:6. Continue in Christ and you will enjoy these riches (1 Corinthians 2:9). Remember, this is not for sinful youths but for the righteous ones. • Chɑllenge: "God has plans for the righteous" • Prɑyer: "Lord, help me to continue enjoying your promised riches." • Quote: "Righteous riches will come to you from heaven" • Bible Reɑding in one Yeɑr: Philippians 4:19 See more here: |

Higher Everydɑy SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 2018 JOY OF ETERNAL LIFE TEXT: ISAIAH 62:2 "And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all the kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD shall name" (Isaiah 62:2). The Cymbal hymnal "There is a new name written down in glory," by C. Austin Miles 1910, tells the story of a sinner who knelt at the cross to receive pardon for his sin. He had nothing to fear but only God's angry frown. He received pardon as he confessed his sins, and saw heaven open and his name written down in glory - in the Book of Life. With a great flood of joy in his heart, he felt like going there immediately. Have you received pardon for your sins or are you still bearing the old name of a condemned sinner ready to face judgment and punishment? God is ready to forgive you if you cast down yourself before Him and confess all your sins and repent. You will have a new name, joy of eternal life, and hope to see God on the final day. • Chɑllenge: "Confess your sins in repentance, and you will have a new name" • Prɑyer: "Lord, I am sorry for all my sins; forgive me, in Jesus' name." • Quote: "Still bearing the old name of sinner?" • Bible Reɑding in one Yeɑr: Revelation 2:16-17 See more here: |

Higher Everydɑy SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 2018 DIVINE CLEANSING TEXT: PSALM 24:4 "He that has clean hands, and a pure heart; who has not lifted up his soul unto vanity nor sworn deceitfully" (Psalm 24:4). The heart is a muscular organ about the size of a closed fist; it functions as the body's circulatory pump. It takes deoxygenated blood through the veins and delivers it to the lungs for oxygenation before pumping it into the various arteries. The heart must be in a healthy condition before it can perform this function. The same is the holy and heavenly heart. You need a holy heart and clean hands to see God. Is your heart clogged with spiritual fats of filthiness and unclean desires which prevent the word of God from penetrating it? Allow your heart to download the pure word of God which is user-friendly. God expects you to have a holy heart in order for you to see Him. Come to the Cross today for a cleansing in the blood of Jesus and your heart will be as white as snow. • Chɑllenge: "Without holiness you cannot see God" • Prɑyer: "Lord, cleanse my heart from all filthiness, in Jesus' name." • Quote: "Come to the cross today for a cleansing." • Bible Reɑding in one Yeɑr: Job 17:9; Matthew 5:8 See more here: |

Higher Everydɑy MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2018 TRUST IN HIM TEXT: PSALM 45:3 "Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised and His greatness is unsearchable" (Psalm 45:3). A doctor told a woman that the baby she was carrying in her womb was dead and she needed an urgent surgery. After prayers by a renowned Man of God during a Monthly Revival Programme, God heard her cry and did an extra-ordinary miracle in her. Her baby was revived, and it survived in the womb and was born alive. The clearest view of our great God comes from his actions towards His creation, especially towards His redeemed people. God's greatness is unsearchable; you do not need to go far to see the greatness of God. Entrust Him with your needs for He is Jehovah El Shadai. The Bible says, "Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that worketh in us" (Ephesians 3:20}. Let your life tell of His greatness and your character point others to His goodness. Do you still doubt the greatness of God? Surrender your life to Christ today and you will experience His greatness. • Chɑllenge: "Never you doubt the greatness of God in your life" • Prɑyer: "Almighty God, help me to cast my care upon in you always, in Jesus' name." • Quote: "God's greatness is unsearchable." • Bible Reɑding in one Yeɑr: Psalm 145:1-11; Ephesians 1:19 See more here: |

Higher Everydɑy TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 2018 SINGING IN PRISON TEXT: PSALM 148:5 "Let them praise the name of the LORD: for He commanded, and they were created" (Psalms 148:5). Tina's parents had shown her the back door because of her faith in the Lord. She had no food to eat and nowhere to lay her head at night, but she still praised God in these circumstances. One day her mother's heart melted and she asked her, "Tina, what is the secret of your joy and singing in the midst of all the torture your dad and I give you?" Tina replied, "I take pleasure in praising the God of heaven, who saved me and brought me out of the pit of hell." Her mother only understood this when she too heard the gospel and surrendered her life to Christ. You need to praise God for your past blessings, present joy, and future hope, for God inhabits the praises of His saints. When you praise God always, whether in pain or in suffering, in abundance or in want, He will do great things for you. Start now to give thanks to God, for His mercies endure forever. • Chɑllenge: "Do you take pleasure in praising God?" • Prɑyer: "Let my lips praise you continually, oh God." • Quote: "Give thanks to God." • Bible Reɑding in one Yeɑr: Psalm 148:1-13 See more here:

Higher Everydɑy WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 2018 DESTINY FULFILLMENT TEXT: HABAKKUK 2:3 "For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak and not lie; though it tarry, wait for it" (Habakkuk 2:3). Honey bees are widely known for their economic importance. During its development stage, a hatched larva is almost microscopic in size, without legs and eyes. The larva is fed on a very rich diet of royal jelly for initial two days. As the third day progresses, the larva that is destined to develop into Queen Bee continues to feed on large quantities of the royal jelly. Of all the larvae, only one is destined to be the Queen Bee. Are you destined for greatness? Do you desire to fulfill your destiny? Destiny is a predetermined course of life. It is an inevitable or necessary fate to which a particular person or thing is made to fulfill. However you can miss your destiny if you do not work to realise it. Students who do not read or study hard are destined for lesser careers. When you are destined by God for greatness, it shows in everything you do. You make it your dream goal in life and pursue it to its logical conclusion. • Chɑllenge: "You must fulfill your destiny to the glory of God." • Prɑyer: "Lord, help me to fulfill my destiny, in Jesus' name." • Quote: "You can miss your destiny if you do not work." • Bible Reɑding in one Yeɑr: Jeremiah 29:11; Psalm 71:7 See more here: |

Higher Everydɑy THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2018 DEFEND HIS COURSE TEXT: 1 SAMUEL 17:47 "And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear, for the battle is the Lord's and He will give you into our hands" (1 Samuel 17:47). David was a committed champion with the single aim of making all the earth know that there is a God in Israel. He ran towards Goliath by faith and courage, and defeated him. Because of his faith in God, He used him marvelously to conquer the bully and became Israel's champion. Do you have faith in God and the boldness to slay your Goliath? ls there any sinful habit or lifestyle in your life that will never allow you to proclaim Christ? Are there some long established evil habits in your life that oppose you like Goliath? You need to slay them. They harass and torment you day and night. As a champion, you must be a strong fighter who never retreats or surrenders but dies defending the course of God. Make a commitment to publicise Christ by your actions and words as David did when he defeated Goliath. • Chɑllenge: "Depopulate the kingdom of darkness and evil around you." • Prɑyer: "O Lord, make me a committed champion like David." • Quote: "There is a God in Israel." • Bible Reɑding in one Yeɑr: 1 Samuel 17:46-55 See more here: 1 Like

Higher Everydɑy FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 2018 CRUEL ENVY TEXT: SONG OF SOLOMON 8:6 "Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame" (Song of Solomon 8:6). Two neighbouring shopkeepers were bitter rivals. One would always smile in triumph over the other when he had a customer. An angel appeared to one of them in a dream and said, "I will give you anything you ask, but whatever you receive, your neighbour will receive twice as much. What is your desire?" The man frowned, thought for a moment, and then said, "Strike me blind in one eye!" All that is needed to chase away this cruel envy that produces ill will is love. The Bible says, "Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law" (Romans 13: 10). Are you the jealous type? Do you fear your mates will succeed more than you in life? Don't be jealous of others, whether in your education, job, material possession, or popularity. God wants all His children to enjoy the fullness of eternal life. Envy can make you miss heaven because it is as cruel as death. An envious person who is malevolent is not born again. He or she needs salvation. Beware and repent now! • Chɑllenge: "Do not allow the flame of jealousy to consume you." • Prɑyer: "Oh God, let jealousy not be my ruin in Jesus' name." • Quote: "Envy can make you miss heaven." • Bible Reɑding in one Yeɑr: Proverbs 6:34 See more here: |

Higher Everydɑy SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, 2018 GOD KNOWS HIS SHEEP TEXT: JOB 22:21 "Acquaint now thyself with Him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee" (Job 22:21). A certain banker always left home as early as 5 o'clock every morning when his two kids were still asleep and returned at 7 pm when they had already gone to bed. He also travelled a lot on mission. This went on for several years and the children grew up without knowing him intimately. One Saturday, the man's daughter saw him lying on the bed in her mother's room and she rushed out to the kitchen. "Mummy, mummy, there's a strange man lying on your bed," she said. Her mother tried to convince her that it was her father, but she could not accept because there was no intimacy between them. Are you intimate with your Creator? There is no substitute for intimacy. George Washington said, "Be courteous to all, but intimate with a few, and let those few be well tried before you give them your confidence." Intimacy is very important in relationship; and as it is in the family, so it is between us and God. You may not recognise the voice of God if you lack intimacy with Him. • Chɑllenge: "You can only know God if you remain close to Him." • Prɑyer: "Let me stay close to you always, O Lord." • Quote: "Intimacy is very important in relationship." • Bible Reɑding in one Yeɑr: Psalms 34:8-10 See more here: 1 Like

Higher Everydɑy SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 2018 THE VALUE OF SOLITUDE TEXT: PROVERBS 25:17 "Withdraw thy foot from thy neighbour 's house; lest he be weary of thee, and so hate thee" (Proverbs 25:17). In 1832, French engineer Ferdinand Marie Lesseps was traveling in the Mediterranean when one of the passengers became sick and the ship was quarantined. The solitary hours aboard the isolated vessel were frustrating to Lesseps. But they later enabled him to read Charles le Pere's memoirs, carrying a study on the feasibility of building a canal from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean. This helped Lesseps to devise a detailed plan for the construction of the Suez Canal, which subsequently brought invaluable service to humanity. That quarantine proved that withdrawing yourself once in a while could be profitable, especially if you spend such a time praying and studying the word of God. It could also help you to do some of your assignments or read your academic books. Do not follow the crowd or take part in gossips and worthless conversations. It is more profitable to be alone than to be with friends who can prevent you from serving God. Christ constantly withdrew from His disciples to pray (Luke 22:41). Beloved, spend time alone with God, praying. • Chɑllenge: "You think better when alone than with a crowd." • Prɑyer: "Lord, help keep me away from unprofitable crowd friends." • Quote: "Spend time alone with God, praying." • Bible Reɑding in one Yeɑr: Luke 22:41; 2 Thessalonians 3:6 See more here: |

Higher Everydɑy MONDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2018 SIN BRINGS SUFFERINGS TEXT: LAMENTATION 5:15-16 "The joy of our heart is ceased; our dance is turned into mourning. The crown is fallen from our head: woe unto us that we have sinned" (Lamentation 5:15-16). It was said by Jonathan Edwards that, "Sin is the ruin and misery of the soul, it is destructive in its nature; and if God should leave it without restraint, there would need nothing else to make the soul perfectly miserable." Most times God allows suffering in order to get our attention. The Old Testament is full of stories of people who sinned and suffered as a result. Cain, Sodom and Gomorrah, Miriam and many Israelites suffered greatly as a result of sin. But the New Testament is a dispensation of Grace and punishment for sin may not be as swift as in the old testament. However, sin shall not go unpunished unless it is repented of. Sin is rebellion against God through breaking His Commandments. Sufferings result from sin but not all sufferings are the result of sin. We should pray for suffering people whether due to their sins or some other causes. The sinner must repent to escape the painful consequence of sin. Retribution for a wicked life must come now or later. Pray for God's pardon now if you are a sinner. • Chɑllenge: "The greatest suffering for sin is eternity in Hell Fire." • Prɑyer: "Oh God, release me from the bondage of sin, in Jesus name." • Quote: "Sin is rebellion against God." • Bible Reɑding in one Yeɑr: 2 Peter 2:4-7; Proverbs 14:34 See more here: |

Higher Everydɑy TUESDAY, OCTOBER 2, 2018 A PERCEPTION OF GOD TEXT: LAMENTATION 5:15-16 "Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth Him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with Him" (Acts 10:34,35). God is a mystery and can only be known as He reveals Himself to man from generation to generation. He is a God of wonders. - Wonder in love, justice, forgiveness, power, healing, deliverance, glory and holiness. Considering the attributes of God, a hymn writer wrote: Great God of wonders! All Thy ways Display the attributes divine; But countless acts of pard'ning grace Beyond Thine other wonders shine: Who is a pard'ning God like Thee? Or who has grace so rich and free? To Peter in our text, God is no respecter of persons. Our perception of God matters a lot if we must have a good relationship with Him and represent Him rightly. Just as His Omnipotence compels us to fear and revere Him, His mercy, grace and compassion towards us should make us worship and glorify Him. God sees humanity as one and is not partial in His love towards mankind. He deals with us according to the measure of our love and reverence for Him. • Chɑllenge: "What is your perception of God?" • Prɑyer: "Oh God, help me to know you more, in Jesus name." • Quote: "Our perception of God matters." • Bible Reɑding in one Yeɑr: 2 Chronicle 19:7; Romans 2:11-13; Colossians 3:25 See more here: |

Higher Everydɑy WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 3, 2018 A VIRTUE AND A VICE TEXT: 1 CORINTHIANS 14:20 "Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men" (1 Corinthians 14:20). Vice is a conduct or habit viewed as deprave, immoral, or degrading in a person. Vices consist of negative traits in individuals such as drunkenness, gambling, stealing, and lying, while high moral conduct is an evidence of virtue. Little children are so innocent at heart that they do not conceive evil. Indeed they are considered amoral. That is why the scripture tells us to be children in malice. On the other hand, we must act virtuously in understanding. It would enable us to be prudent, kind, honest, modest, patient, forgiving, humble, kind and loving. Someone with an understanding mind is able to perceive and explain the meaning or nature of things or people. This was why King Solomon asked God to give him an understanding heart in order to rule well. Every student, parent, professional and Church worker needs understanding to function excellently in all things and avoid evil. Child of God, flee vice and embrace virtue. Vices can land you in problems here on earth and finally in everlasting hell fire. Pray for salvation in order to act with understanding always. • Chɑllenge: "Virtue is preferable to vice." • Prɑyer: "Oh God, incline my heart to virtuous thoughts and acts, in Jesus name." • Quote: "Flee vice and embrace virtue." • Bible Reɑding in one Yeɑr: Philippians 4:8; 2 Peter 1:5-9 See more here: |

Higher Everydɑy THURSDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2018 AN ENEMY CALLED DEATH TEXT: 1 CORINTHIANS 15:26 "The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death" (1 Corinthians 15:26). Death is a reality which we must face at some point in time in our earthly journey. Youngsters take life for granted and ignore the reality of death. Wherever death occurs, sorrow, pain and grief are left behind for the bereaved, especially when it comes unexpected. Death came as a result of the fall of man in the Garden of Eden. According to Marilyn Hickey, "When Satan tempted the very first man, Adam, to sin, his goal was to bring forth death. There are actually three kinds of death: spiritual, physical and eternal." Satan and sin are twin enemies that brought the third enemy, death to humanity. However, Jesus has defeated them all on the cross of Calvary. Physical death comes to all: no differentiation based on age, social, economic or educational status. What matters now is that you embrace the full gospel of Christ by accepting Him as your Lord and personal Saviour, so that you can have grace to live a holy life without fear of the mortal enemy, death. Then, physical death would be a joyful transition. • Chɑllenge: "Let it be a joyful transition on your death day." • Prɑyer: "Oh God, let the victory of Christ over death not be in vain in my life, in Jesus name." • Quote: "Physical death....a gateway to eternal life." • Bible Reɑding in one Yeɑr: Revelation 20:11-15; 21:3-5 See more here:

Higher Everydɑy FRIDAY, OCTOBER 5, 2018 DANGER OF RISKY PASTIMES TEXT: GENESIS 34:1-2 "And Dinah the daughter of Leah, which she bare unto Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land. And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he took her, and lay with her, and defiled her" (Genesis 34:1-2). We live in a world that is full of wickedness. The devil is always on duty to cause distress, pain and regret in the life of a child of God. The need to be on the alert cannot be over stressed. From our text, we can see that Dinah, the daughter of Jacob ran into a big problem because she was not careful and watchful. She was defiled by Shechem, an ungodly man who took advantage of her careless pastime. Youths, you are advised to be careful of the places you go to, and the people you call friends. The devil is still waiting to defile the unsuspecting boy or girl who accepts invitation to attend disco parties, picnics and other suspicious social gatherings that can be used as baits to bring him or her down. The Holy Spirit only directs our steps if we listen to Him carefully. 'A man's conscience, like a warning line on the highway, tells him what he shouldn't do - but it does not keep him from doing it." This is the view of Frank A. Clark and it is true. • Chɑllenge: "The devil is always on duty to cause distress, pain and regret." • Prɑyer: "God, direct my path always." • Quote: "Be careful of the places you go to." • Bible Reɑding in one Yeɑr: Psalm 91:1-5 See more here: |

Higher Everydɑy SATURDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2018 KEEP PURE AND SAFE TEXT: GENESIS 34:1-2 "For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil: But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two edged sword" (Proverbs 5:3-4). What we listen to often affect us in a positive way or in a negative way. Mike Murdock warns, "Boldly protect your ears and life from absorbing talk that does not edify and build." This warning is timely because there are so many talks around, but how many of them edify? Many boys and girls have been led astray to commit fornication, homosexuality and lesbianism because of what they heard from their friends or peers. Before you can effectively shun allurement from Satan, you need to surrender without reservation your life to the Lord Jesus who will give you grace to overcome all appearances of evil. Daily life of devotion and prayer will help you to take your stand in the midst of people who are given to immoral lifestyles. Make up your mind and watch out to ensure you are not taken unawares by the devil through his agents. Remember the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, 'Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.' • Chɑllenge: "Make up your mind never to yield to temptation." • Prɑyer: "Oh Lord, help me to always watch and pray, in Jesus' name." • Quote: "Hunger and thirst after righteousness." • Bible Reɑding in one Yeɑr: Proverbs 4:1-5 See more here: |

Higher Everydɑy SUNDAY, OCTOBER 7, 2018 GUARD AGAINST DECEPTION TEXT: EPHESIANS 4:14 "That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive" (Ephesians 4:14). As best I can tell there was no advance warning of the attack on the World Trade Centre in 1993, which was the first significant foreign terrorist activity in the U.S. No tip-offs that it was coming." Bobby Ray Inman hints here that the attack on the World Trade Centre came suddenly without any tip-off. Believers must always avoid a similar attack on their souls by peddlers of false doctrines who are everywhere seeking whom to lead astray. As a believer, you must avoid the company of anyone whose life is not helping you to grow spiritually. We are in the Last Days and so many unusual things are happening in the Christendom. Things that were forbidden before have been accepted as normal in many worship centres. Gay marriage, drunkenness, worldliness and gross spiritual recklessness are welcome nowadays because people have left true worship of the true God. Paul, the apostle gave us a stern warning saying, "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears..." • Chɑllenge: "Be on the alert at all time." • Prɑyer: "My Lord, guide me and keep me from false teachers." • Quote: "We are in the last days." • Bible Reɑding in one Yeɑr: 2 Timothy 3:1-5 See more here: |

Higher Everydɑy MONDAY, OCTOBER 8, 2018 YOU CAN BE USED OF GOD TEXT: ACTS 5:5-6 "Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did" (Acts 5:5-6). Give me one hundred preachers who fear nothing but sin and desire nothing but God, and I care not whether they be clergymen or laymen, they alone will shake the gates of Hell and set up the kingdom of Heaven upon Earth." This was the heart cry of John Wesley, a dynamic preacher of holiness. The world needs capable youths like Timothy of the Bible days to deliver it from the hands of the devil. Philip, the evangelist, went to the city of Samaria and did great exploits for God. Many souls were converted and there was joy in the city of Samaria because of his outreach there. Reach your own Samaria for Christ. In your school or community there are many unconverted souls. Pray and start reaching them for Christ who saved you. However, you must be born again to be able to lead others to Christ. Opportunity of reaching out to lost souls abound even more nowadays than in the days of Philip. You can make use of the social media to reach out to people. • Chɑllenge: "The world needs capable youths like Timothy today." • Prɑyer: "My God, give me burden for souls, in Jesus name." • Quote: "Reach your own Samaria for Christ." • Bible Reɑding in one Yeɑr: Mathew 28:18-20 See more here: |

Higher Everydɑy TUESDAY, OCTOBER 9, 2018 OPTIMAL USE OF TALENTS TEXT: MATTHEW 25:22 "He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them" (Matthew 25:22). There is no child of God without a talent. God created us with natural talents embedded in us. When you are born again, God imparts spiritual gifts to you for the work of the kingdom. The blend of your natural talents and spiritual gifts should make you be on fire for God. Wake up the sleeping giant in you to serve God! Paul Watson says: "Follow your dreams and use your natural born talents and skills to make this a better world for tomorrow. Believers are the light and hope of the world so we cannot allow our God-given talents to be asleep. Wake the sleeping giant in you to serve God! Those who refuse to use their talents to serve God will surely pay dearly for it on the day of judgment. Do you have a good voice for songs but do not sing for God? Stir up the gift of God in you and serve the Lord with it. Make sure you are born again so that your talent can be useful. Those using their talents but continue in sin are not accepted before God. • Chɑllenge: "There is no child of God without a talent." • Prɑyer: "My God, wake the sleeping giant in me, in Jesus name." • Quote: "Wake up the sleeping giant in you to serve God!" • Bible Reɑding in one Yeɑr: 2 Timothy 1:5-8 See more here: |

Higher Everydɑy WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 10, 2018 COUNTING DISCIPLESHIP COST TEXT: LUKE 14:28 "For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?" (Luke 14:28). Charles G. Finney, while defining discipleship says, "It implies the renunciation of the claim of absolute proprietorship in anything... that you recognize the of truth, that you have nothing that you can properly call your own... that everything is God's, and that you are his steward." Christianity is not always a bed of roses. There is a price to pay. Our Lord clearly tells us in the text that a man who wants to build must sit down and do proper projections before he begins the building project. A Christian who wants to make it to Heaven must be ready to make necessary adjustments in order to align properly with kingdom goals. Thank God! He provides the grace for us to be able to cope with the cost of discipleship; but the onus is on you to make use of the grace to do your restitutions, endure afflictions and ridicules from friends and even family members to be on the side of Christ. You should be rest assured that the Lord Himself is always by you and will see you through all challenges. • Chɑllenge: "There is a price to to pay." • Prɑyer: "Lord, give me grace to pay the price of true discipleship." • Quote: "Christianity is not always a bed of roses." • Bible Reɑding in one Yeɑr: Proverbs 24:30-34 See more here: |

Higher Everydɑy THURSDAY, OCTOBER 11, 2018 COURAGE FOR CONQUEST TEXT: JOSHUA 1:6 "Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them" (Joshua 1:6). "I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear." Nelson Mandela captures what a Christian's life should be. Fear is a natural emotional disposition of man, but it can be conquered by courage. A Christian is often referred to as a spiritual soldier who has Heaven's armoury at his/her disposal. God expects us to overcome fear because He has given us all things which pertain to life and godliness. The word of God is full of unfailing promises of God which should be sources of courage to every youth. God is faithful to His promises; but the devil normally brings fear into the hearts of believers to make them doubt God. Paul challenged Timothy to be bold, "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." There are many open doors for us and areas where God wants us to arise and conquer. • Chɑllenge: "God expects us to overcome fear." • Prɑyer: "Lord, make me courageous to inherit my blessings." • Quote: "God hath not given us the spirit of fear." • Bible Reɑding in one Yeɑr: Isaiah 41: 10-13 See more here: |

Higher Everydɑy FRIDAY, OCTOBER 12, 2018 SALVATION IN NO OTHER NAME TEXT: ACTS 4:12 "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). Salvation came to humanity through Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God. Our text reveals to us, like many other parts of the Scriptures that Jesus alone can save man from sin and its eternal consequences. Jesus Himself tells us that He is the way, and that no man can come to the Father except through Him. Christians are highly privileged to have access to the name of Jesus. "Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father" (Philippians 2:9-11). The name of Jesus is the only name God approves for us to relate with Him, as clearly seen from the quotations above. Do you have access to this wonder working name? You need to give your life to Jesus and make Him your personal Lord and Saviour so that this name can begin to work for you. • Chɑllenge: "Salvation came to humanity through Jesus Christ, the Son of God." • Prɑyer: "Lord, help me to value the name of Jesus." • Quote: "The name of Jesus is the only name God approves." • Bible Reɑding in one Yeɑr: John 15:1:1-6 See more here: |
