GRACIOUS GOD!

"For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure" (Philippians 2:13)

When you hear the expression, “work of God”, what comes to your mind? Preaching, singing in the choir, giving to the cause of the gospel, visiting the sick and helping the poor youths? You are right. These are works of God, but it is more than that. In 1737 Jonathan Edwards wrote an essay titled, “A Faithful Narrative of the Surprising Work of God in the Conversion of Many Hundred Souls in Northampton”. In this essay, he describes the circumstances surrounding the conversion of members of his congregation as the work of God’s grace.

Do you know that salvation is the work of God? All the Christian experiences—Salvation, Holiness, Holy Ghost impartation — are works of God. God is at work in your heart if you allow Him to change you, and transform you into the image of Christ. As you desire to grow in grace, God will help you to remain steadfast till the end. Yield your will to Him. Let God have his way in you.

Challenge: "Has God done the work of grace in your life?"

Prayer: "Have thine own way, Lord."

WONDERFUL JESUS

"And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself" (Luke 24:27)

In the above passage, Christ gave an account of the prophecies concerning Himself to His troubled disciples. Here two disciples on the way to Emmaus were discussing Jesus. Jesus therefore appeared and expounded the Scripture to them. He is the minister, the Message and the topic of discussion. How wonderful Jesus is? All the Scriptures beginning from Moses and the prophets speak about Him. He is the great Shepherd and identifies Himself as the Lamb. He is that High Priest who entered the heavenly tabernacle, “Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us” (Hebrews 9:12). So, he was both the Priest and the Sacrifice. He offered his own blood, which was Jesus, a wonderful personality. If Jesus preached himself, then you must preach Jesus only. No wonder A. B. Simpson wrote in his timeless hymn in 1890: “Jesus only is our message...”

Challenge: "There is no one like my Saviour"

Prayer: "Lord, I want to know you more."

KEEPING SECRET

"But the lad knew not any thing: only Jonathan and David knew the matter" (1 Samuel 20:39)

In the movie industry, secret is what is called suspense in films of which some are true life stories. Oftentimes in the world, the so-called secret when exposed, usually leads to sadness and sorrow for the keeper. Keeping good secret is honourable, because when such secret is exposed, it is always a joyful report. An example of keeping secret is that of Jonathan: who kept the secret of his dealing with David in order to preserve David’s life when the latter was being persecuted by King Saul, Jonathan's father. Jonathan lived out what the Scripture suggests in Proverbs 17:17: "A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity." As a friend, he was very kind to David. As a youth, let the Bible be your guide. You too should so love your friends by letting them know about the love of Jesus, which is the secret of life.

Challenge: "See a need, lend a hand and keep it secret"

Prayer: "Oh God, help me to be a friend in need and indeed."

ARE YOU A REBEL?

"And they fell upon their faces, and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and wilt thou be wroth with all the congregation?" (Numbers 16:22)

It is easy to answer the above question with a simple Yes or No. But wait a minute. Who is a rebel? Are you one of them who do not like to obey rules, fights constituted authority or opposes somebody in authority? If your answer is yes, then you are a rebel. Are you a Christian? Christ does not want Christian youths to be unruly at home, school or church. You must endeavour to “obey them that have the rule over you and submit yourselves” to them.

All hope is not lost if you find out that you are a rebel. All you need to do is to change your ways by surrendering to Christ and receiving Him as your personal Lord and Saviour and you shall be free from the spirit of rebellion. If you have any issue, discuss it amicably with the authorities or send representatives to speak on your behalf and do not rebel, and God will fight for you.

Challenge: "Obedience is better than sacrifice"

Prayer: "Lord, help me to submit to the constituted authority."

PORTION OF SINNERS

"Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup" (Psalms 11:6)

A young graduate who detested God in his school days seemed to have been successful when he came out with a Second Class Upper division in Mechanical Engineering. He came first in the test for his dream job in Oil Company, but was not given the job. The failure repeated itself three consecutive times so he sought the help of his village chief and got “introductory note” from him twice, but the rejection continued. Sin denies you of God’s presence and peace. In desperation the young man knelt down in humility and repentance and prayed “Oh God be merciful to me a sinner. Forgive my pride, remove the snares, fire and brimstone and the horrible tempest from me.” The very next interview he got the job. Are you living in sin? Do you know that God is angry with you every day? It is only true repentance and turning to God that can save you.

Challenge: "Even in prosperity, a sinner remains an enemy of God"

Prayer: "Father, cleanse me thoroughly from sin."

KEEP OFF THAT TRAP

"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour" (1 Peter 5:8.)

For hunters, a trap is a piece of equipment used for catching animals. To draw the animal to the device, a hunter lays it with some delicacies (food) as baits. Satan like a hunter is a trap setter. He sets snares to steal, kill and destroy the faith of believers (John 10: 10). Satan uses clever plans to deceive believers, by making them do or say things against God. He tried it with Adam and Eve and succeeded thus bringing entire humanity into the bondage of sin. He tried it on our Lord Jesus Christ but failed woefully.

As a Christian youth boy or girl, Satan will try to lure you with desire for success, pleasure, popularity, prosperity and other things that are not in themselves evil, but which he uses as a carrot to overturn your faith. Resist every manipulation from the devil in dealing with your problems at school, work, home, and in your relationships. Focus on God, live for Him and you will always overcome.

Challenge: "Resist the devil and he will flee from you"

Prayer: "Help me Lord to be watchful and prayerful in my Christian walk."

DEFENCE AGAINST DECEPTION

"And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you" (Matthew 24:4)

Our Lord Jesus is the Good Shepherd. He will never allow his flock to go astray. Although He loves them, He will not shy away from warning them about the evil world. As a youth, you should take heed to those warnings and stay out of trouble. An adage says, "The dog that will be lost will not heed the hunter’s whistle". Any Christian youth who desires to be successful will take heed to the dos and don'ts as laid down in the Scripture. "We are in the last days" characterised by all kinds of ungodliness, including internet scams, pornographic images and immorality, examination malpractices, intolerance, terrorism and occult practices.

Our Lord expressly warns believers against religious deception. Religious intolerance has given rise to unbridled violence and attendant loss of lives in many countries today. The only way to avoid being deceived is to know the word of God and fellowship with believers that love the truth. Ask the Lord Jesus to protect you from religious charlatans and false teachers.

Challenge: "Beware of deception in these last days"

Prayer: "Oh God, help me to turn away from perilous signs."

LOT OF SINNERS

"The wicked shall be turned into hell and all the nations that forget God" (Psalm 9:17)

One of the great dangers of this century, and thus one of the great triumphs of Satan, has been the growing disbelief in the existence of Hell. Believe it or not, all sinners since the generation of Adam till this present time, who died in their sins, are already languishing in this place of torment as described in Luke 16:23. At death, the sinner's fate is already decided – he goes to hell. Many young boys and girls have wrong notions regarding the final destination of sinners, chief among them are purgatory and annihilation.

The former has it that there is an intermediate state called purgatory between death and appearance before God in judgement where the sinner stays for a while to suffer during which Christ will atone for his sins and qualify him for heaven. The latter states that sinner will be burnt up at once. These beliefs are not supported by the word of God. The eternal destination of sinners is hell fire and the only way of escaping it is to have genuine salvation through Christ.

Challenge: "Your choice determines your destiny"

Prayer: "Lord, save my soul from hell."

ETERNAL EXPECTATION

"Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed" (1 Corinthians 15:51)

The rapture is the greatest event of all ages that the Church is waiting for. The sudden catching away of all true believers in Christ to meet the Lord in the air is called the Rapture. Christ’s mission will be to resurrect all dead saints, who, along with the living believers will put on immortality and shall be caught up to be with the Lord. It is the eternal expectation of all followers of Christ.

At the rapture, all the saints, including the youths, will be transformed into immortal and incorruptible beings. All who died in their sins without repenting at the rapture will face God’s judgement. To partake in this transition, all sinning youths must repent of their sins and embrace Christ as their Saviour. Then as a saint of God, you must live a transparent holy life, watch and pray daily lest that day comes upon you unprepared. Since the rapture is certain, you must prepare to meet your God.

Challenge: "Are you ready for the coming of the Lord"

Prayer: "O Lord, make me ready for your coming."

CONFIRMED CONFESSION

"And now, behold, I know well that thou shall surely be king, and that the kingdom of Israel shall be established in thine hand" (1 Samuel 24:20)

Little David endeared himself to God. He was forgiving even towards his sworn enemies. He had ample opportunity to deal decisively against his enemies, especially King Saul, who wanted him dead at all cost. Saul, the backslidden king was plotting to kill David to cut short his ambition to the throne. Having the opportunity to kill Saul, he remembered God’s commandment ‘Touch not mine anointed’.

As a youth in this contemporary time, someone or a group of people; young or old, may be seeking your downfall openly or secretly. In such situation, you should not seek revenge. Just put your faith in God and pray for them. You can rely on the word of God, which assures that “No weapon fashioned against you shall prosper” (Isaiah 54:17). As the Lord delivered and confounded Saul before David, so will the Lord will confound all your enemies before you.

Challenge: "God knows how to deliver His children"

Prayer: "O Lord, disappoint all the devices of the enemy against me (Job 5:12)."

BE FRIENDLY

"But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate" (Titus 1:8.)

Alfred Adler, the famous Viennese Psychologist, wrote a book entitled: What Life Should Mean to You. In that book he says; ‘It is the individual who is not interested in his fellow men who has the greatest difficulties in life and provides the greatest injury to others. It is from among such individuals that all human failures spring.’ No man is an island of his own. Thus, no one wanting to make headway in life makes it without the help of people.

If you desire to make friends you must show yourself friendly (Proverbs 18:24). You must be genuinely interested in people. It is clear from our text that, what you love or who you love is important. As a youth intending to be great in life, you must watch the things you have affection for and carefully pick your friends. It is commonly said show me your friend and I will tell you who you are. Be a lover of things that are good and acceptable in the sight of God and men.

Challenge: "A friend is one who knows you and loves you just the same"

Prayer: "Lord, help me to love others."

SOFT ANSWER

"A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger" (Proverbs 15:1)

Anger is defined as a strong feeling of displeasure, hostility or resentment towards someone or something, usually combined with an urge to harm. Someone said anger is seen or regarded as “temporary madness” because it stirs up strife or shocking behaviour momentarily. Offences which could set off anger and eventually lead to destruction of life and property will sometimes come up.

A wise youth should know how to handle offences whether you are at fault or not. There is no peace when in a matter two people are claiming to be right. It is said that two wrongs don’t make a right. An unpleasant situation could lead to unrest among youth anywhere and at any time, and you may be at fault. As a Christian youth, you must be ready to resolve differences with people you have wronged. You should be a lover of peace by endeavouring to settle all matters amicably with real or perceived enemies.

Challenge: "Politeness opens door to friendship"

Prayer: "O God, give me the right word to say always."

NO LAZINESS

"Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord" (Romans 12:11)

An author on productivity said 'Great ideas and concepts abound, but when they are not projected with commitment, they end up as fantasy'. He went further to say "If a dream must come true somebody must work it out. It is a great mistake not to commit to the future you like. The difference between a champion and a common man is commitment." Do you aspire to be great in life? Then you mustn't give place to laziness and procrastination.

Everyone in the world, including you have twenty-four hours a day within which you must achieve a set goal. Since time waits for no man, you must engage in profitable ventures. Our text portrays a balanced youth: not slothful in business — academically and secularly; fervent in spirit — having a positive enthusiasm in spite of challenges; and serving the Lord—living a godly life and working for God. The Scripture reminds us that in all labour there is profit (Proverbs 14:23). As you avoid laziness, the Almighty God will make you excel in Jesus' name.

Challenge: "If you aspire to be great in life, avoid idleness"

Prayer: "O Lord, Deliver me from slothfulness."

DIVINE DEFENCE

"A thousand shall fall at thy side and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee" (Psalm 91:7)

Mathematics often called the language of the universe is central to our understanding of the world and as such, is important in modern society. But have you ever considered that God is the greatest of all mathematicians? Before your heart beats fast when faced with any life-threatening ordeal, ponder on this mathematical analysis: Are the people fallen by your left side up to one thousand? Or are the people fallen at your right hand up to ten thousand? If your answer is NO, then you don’t even have a case.

On the other hand, if eleven thousand people have fallen per minute (one thousand at your left side and ten thousand at your right side) and it’s as though you have sufficient reason to fear, yet God says “it shall not come nigh thee” An ungodly youth depends on charms, secret cult membership; yet all these cannot defend them. As a Christian youth, you should not depend on physical means of defence but rather on Divine security like Elisha in 2 Kings 6:17. Once you are born again, you are entitled to Divine defence.

Challenge: "Your Life is in the Hollow of His Hands"

Prayer: "Lord, qualify me for Divine defence."

ENRICHING EPISTLES

"Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you..." (Jude verse 3)

Letter writing being a form of communication occurs in many forms and formats, including notes and postcards. An enriching letter will improve morality and knowledge. Of the twenty-seven books in the New Testament, thirteen of them are letters written by Apostle Paul and are inspired by the Holy Ghost. They have been sources of blessings to all generations. Jude wrote his letters to correct errors in the early church at a time when heresies and disagreements had begun to trouble God’s people.

Instead of writing immoral, abusive and threat letters like Haman, you can use the Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, Hi5, Badoo, 2go and other social media platforms to tell your friends about the good news. You can spend a fraction of your time to tell others about Christ, correct ills in your school and share knowledge in your respective fields. If you partner with God in the task of soul-winning, you will never miss your eternal rewards.

Challenge: "Let your heart indict a good matter"

Prayer: "Help me lord to be a winsome writer."

HOLY HANDS

"I will therefore that men pray everywhere lifting up holy hands without wrath and doubting" (2 Timothy 2:8.)

The above scripture admonishes you to pray everywhere at all times. It also gives you the conditions necessary for your prayers to be answered. The first condition is holy hands which is only possible by first having a holy heart. Any prayer that comes from an unholy heart is mere noise and abomination in heaven. God is holy, Jesus is holy, Angels are holy, the Bible is holy, saints in heaven and on earth are holy, and therefore every form of ungodliness is forbidden in heaven. You prepare yourself for heaven by being holy.

The other condition is “without wrath and doubting”. You must forgive those who have wronged you; your heart must be free from anger, hatred, malice revenge and bitterness. You must have strong faith in God because a double-minded man is unstable in all his ways and cannot receive anything from God. Having met all these conditions, you can now pray and the Lord will answer you in Jesus name

Challenge: "Holy heart begat holy hands"

Prayer: "Make me holy, Lord."

A FRIEND INDEED

"And Ruth said, entreat me not to leave thee or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God" (Ruth 1:16)

A friend is a person (other than a relative) with whom one is in terms of mutual affection: a supporter of a course; a person on the same side in a conflict. Naomi was the mother-in-law to Ruth. After the death of Ruth’s husband, she left her land of birth (Moab) which was given to idolatry and followed Naomi to the land of Israel despite repeated persuasions to go back. The relationship between friends can only be sustained when both parties have some common characteristics such as faith and trust in the same God.

There will be love, openness and selflessness without envy and betrayal. It is instructive to note that the Bible never uses the word ‘Friend’ for opposite sex who is not married to each other. A loyal friend is someone you can confide in, trust and share your hopes and dreams with. A sinner, unbeliever or backslider must not be your friend. Above all, you must make Jesus your best friend by being born again.

Challenge: "Have you found a friend in Jesus?"

Prayer: "Lord, make me a friend of Jesus."

FIGHT TO WIN

"Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him" (Hebrews 10:38)

Alexander the Great, king of Macedonia and conqueror of the Persian Empire is considered one of the greatest military geniuses of all times. During one of his several wars, he discovered that his armies where weary and contemplated turning back. He then ordered that the bridge through which they came to the enemy territory be burnt down. Hence the phrase, ‘burn the bridge behind you’. The armies were then mandated to fight and secure victory, knowing there is no means of turning back.

The Christian race is a battle. From the point of salvation, a Christian youth is enlisted into God’s Army to fight against sin, Satan and self. The narrow way that leads to heaven is characterised by temptations, trials and rejections, but looking back is never a viable alternative as it attracts God’s displeasure. You must give yourself to prayers, reading of God’s Word, watchfulness, fellowship attendance and winning souls if you must overcome. Whenever you are tempted to look back, remember Lot’s wife. You have put your hands on the plough, there is no going back!

Challenge: "Are you a true soldier of Christ?"

Prayer: "Lord, help me not to look back."

THANK YOU!

"And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God" (Luke 17:15)

This leprous man received a seal of confirmation upon his healing by his act of gratitude to the healer. Showing gratitude is about acknowledging the good done to you whether by God or men. Godly youths must cultivate this positive attitude of thanksgiving in every situation whether good or bad. When surrounded with vicissitudes of life, adopt this formula of appreciating God and wait for His manifestation. Don’t ever be like the nine lepers who never came back to appreciate Jesus after their healing. Thanking those you have benefited from will encourage them to do more. Always show appreciation to your parents, teachers, friends, church leaders and God for their kindness. Be like David in the Bible who always appreciated God. Note however, that the best way of appreciating God for sending His only begotten Son to die for you is to repent of your sins and receive Jesus into your life.

Prayer: "Lord, give me a thankful heart."

TROUBLESOME TONGUE

"And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity; so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature: and it is set on fire of hell" (James 3:6)

David’s wife Michal would have averted the judgement of God if she had pleaded for the live coal from the altar of God to touch her lip. As David was returning in celebration mood to bless his household after a hard fought battle, Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David. She rebuked David when she said: “How glorious was the king of Israel today, who uncovered himself in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself!” (2 Samuel 6:20).

The consequence of the unnecessary rebuke of her husband was severe: “Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her death” (11samuel 6:23). It is important for you to control the way you use your tongue. You must avoid talking carelessly to your parents, teachers and friends. No man on earth has the power to control his tongue unless the work of grace is done in such an individual: You can restrain your tongue by always praying before making any utterance (Proverb 16:1). You need to learn from Jesus who was meek and lowly.

Challenge: "Your tongue will determine your earthly and eternal happiness"

Prayer: "I need your purging O Lord."

FREEDOM INDEED

"If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed" (John 8:36)

Every youth seeks freedom in one way or the other—freedom for making decisions on the choice of career, the friends you keep, in relationship and other facets of life. While some, because they want financial freedom, go into dubious acts of stealing, joining bad gangs, occult practices and other vices. The greatest bondage that any man, young boys and girls could find themselves is the bondage of sin.

The story of the prodigal son in the Bible shows that true freedom comes from God through the blood of His dear Son, Jesus Christ. If you have not accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, there is no way you would be free. The question today is: Are you free from the bondage of sin? If you are not yet free, Jesus Christ the Saviour is right beside you now to set you free. Confess your sins to Him in prayer, and He will totally liberate you and give you true freedom.

Challenge: "Are you free from the bondage of sin and Satan?"

Prayer: "Lord, give me total freedom from all my sins."

FAITH THAT WORKS

"What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? Can faith save him?" (James 2:14)

Everybody seems to have faith in one way or the other. It is the kind of faith the driver has when he speeds on the highway because he has confidence that the break of the vehicle will not fail him. A story was told of a boy who lost his father at the age of one. He was taught by his mother to always look up to the heavenly Father for his daily needs. This young boy grew up with this mind-set of forwarding his needs to the heavenly Father.

One day, his mother was sick and died in the hospital. The boy who was four years old was told what had just happened. His reply was unmistaken: “No! My mother cannot die. My Father in heaven, bring my mother back to life”. Immediately, the mother came back to life. Do you have faith like this little boy? As you are going out today, put your faith in God and He will do all things for you.

Challenge: "You can have trusting faith like Abraham"

Prayer: "Lord Jesus, help my unbelief."

IT IS WELL

"Run now, I pray thee, to meet her, and say unto her, Is it well with thee? is it well with thy husband? Is it well with the child? And she answered, It is well" (2 Kings 4:26)

Have you ever lost what is so dear to you? Have you been dispossessed of what you have sought for, waited for, and prayed for? Then I will ask you another question, what were your reaction, perceptions and confessions about it? This Shunnammite woman has just lost her son, which came when she no longer hoped for it. But listen to her confession: “It is well.”

Always confess positively As a young person, no matter what situations you are passing through in life, in your academic, spiritual, family, social, relationship or secular life, learn to run to God, believing that He can do all things. Unflinching faith in Christ will herald uncommon blessings in your life. Have the right attitude and confession today as you go out this morning and God will surprise you and bring solution your way.

Challenge: "Where do you run to, who do you believe and what do you confess in times of trouble?"

Prayer: "Give to me O Lord the right attitude whenever problem comes my way."

Quotation: "Always confess positively"

THE INSPIRED WORD

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" (2 Timothy 3:16)

An English playwright and poet, William Shakespeare was born in April 26, 1564 and died in April 23, 1616 at Stratford-upon-Avon. He was known in much of the world as the greatest of all dramatists. His plays have been translated and published in all major languages. He is known to be the most broadly recited author in history. However, popular and widely read, God’s Word is greater than any other widely read books in the world. It is inspired by the Holy Ghost in spite of the unique background of the author, who wrote at different generations. We are to read God’s Word daily to get rooted in knowledge of His will, receive correction and warnings that would qualify us for heaven. Besides, the Bible as the Christian constitution helps to guide your relationship with other people and worldly authorities. Finally as the Basic Instruction Before Leaving the Earth, it prepares you for the Heavenly home.

Challenge: "Read the inspired word then you can inspire your world"

Prayer: "Lord, keep me growing in the knowledge of your word."

Quotation: "Read your Bible daily"

PRAISE AND PRAYER

"And at mid night Paul and Silas prayed and sang praises unto God: the prisoners heard them" (Acts 16:25)

A child of God who desires spectacular answers to his prayers should not handle the practice of praise and prayer with levity. Through prayer and praise, Paul and Silas opened the prison doors and brought deliverance not only to themselves but also to the Philippian jailors and their families. If you praise God, your prison doors of difficulties will open and impossibilities will become possible in your life today in Jesus` name. David was an exemplary worshipper of Jehovah because he understood the power of praise and prayer more than any average believer. No wonder he was the beloved of God. If you desire God’s supernatural power against demons, then you must possess the fire, zeal and power which religious people of the world or demons cannot resist. God’s divine power belongs to those who are born again, sanctified, baptised in the Holy Ghost and believes in power of prayer and praise. You can begin the prayer and praise project now.

Challenge: "Prayer and praise will open the prison door"

Prayer: "Give me the heart to pray and praise you."

Further Reading: Psalm 119:5

Quotation: "You can begin the prayer now"

SISERA SILENCED

"And he said unto her, Give me, I pray thee, a little water to drink; for I am thirsty. And she opened a bottle of milk, and gave him drink, and covered him" (Judges 4:19)

The Bible verse above is about Sisera, a warrior from Canaan, who led his troops against Israel, but suffered a humiliating defeat. In his escape bid, he took shelter in the house of Jael, the wife of Heber. Sisera presumed he was in safe hands and requested a cup of water. She gave him fresh milk which made him fall into a deep sleep. Jael went to him tenderly and swiftly drove six-inch nail into his temple. Sisera was silenced! — When as a young boy or a girl, a stranger offers you a ride or invites you to his house, be very careful. You might fall into the trap of a kidnapper or rapist. If someone is inviting you to his house or promising you free marks in any examinations, be careful. He may just be enticing you into sexual immorality. Never accept invitation from anyone through the internet or any social media platform. Think twice before you accept free offer of food or drinks from anyone.

Challenge: "Beware of friendly foes"

Prayer: "Deliver me from the hand of enemies who pretend to be friends."

Quotation: "Think twice before you accept free offer"

EMPOWER THE POOR

"Only they would that we should remember the poor; the same which I was forward to do" (Galatians 2:10)

This morning, you are being reminded of the need to care for the poor. The Poor are the needy, who lack basic necessities of life. Remembering the poor is an obligation as well as act of generosity towards those who are less privileged in our school, place of living, and entire community. As privileged young people, you should care for orphans and other poor children in your school and neighbourhood. Better still instead of giving them hand-outs, you can actually empower the poor so that they can become self-sufficient and stand on their own. Hospital is the place where doctors and nurses care for the poor in health. Children of God are like doctors that must care for those who are spiritually poor. God expects every youth to show kindness to his fellow youth, who is in need; and by so doing, you will lead them to know about the love of God.

Challenge: "Sow into other`s life with what the Lord has blessed you with"

Prayer: "Lord, teach me to give to the poor."

Further Reading: James 1:25-27

Quotation: "You must remember orphans"

ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE

"But Jesus beheld them and said unto them with men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible" (Matthew 19:26)

Are you one of those youths fond of putting blame on others for your lack of accomplishment? You must make up your mind to stop that blame game and take your destiny in your own hands. Do not allow health, lack of opportunities, lack of education, family background, offences, fear or whatsoever to hinder you from achieving your dreams. The uniform testimony from the Word of God is that “all things are possible.” If you as a child of God come face-to-face with a mountain, determine to climb it. The children of Israel would not have crossed the Red Sea if they allow distractions from the Egyptians. Cross those obstacles in your life by believing the Word of God. The railway lines between East and West America and in Australia would never have been accomplished if those building them had stopped because of the mountains, rivers, and vast plains. God expects every child of His to believe the word of God without any doubt.

Challenge: "All things are possible to them that believe"

Prayer: "Lord, help me not to stagger through life."

Further Reading: Psalm 11:5

Quotation: "Stop that blame game"
