The governor's representative asked the corpers the cause of the pandemonium and one of the corpers came out to adress the dignitaries. He said the long awaited alawy came on saturday and not up to half of the corpers were paid, the rest were told will be paid on sunday. On sunday few were also paid and the remaining were told to come for there own by 7:30a.m on monday before the passing out parade... Up till 11:00a.m nobody was paid. The state coordinator was called upon by the governor's representative. She explained that the reason for the delay of payment is as a result of closure of banks during weekends and she has promised the corpers they will get there money before they leave the camp to their respective place of primary assignments and this was the main reason she ordered those in the kitchen to make sure the corpers' breakfast is ready before 6:00a.m so that everyone could eat before they are all paid. After all deliberations the representative of the governor (secretary to the governor) assured the corpers he will stay till every corpers are settled. |

Right now corpers have started moving to the multi purpose hall, it means the alawy is ready for collection...... Does it mean that corper most protest before getting paid after working under the sun and in the rain? Have they forgotten most of this corpers were SUG members before getting to their state of deployment? It seems our government prefers the continuation of aluta in nysc camps.... Our government should please stop treating our graduates like illiterates |

Here in bayelsa, most of us were not paid until this afternoon- Monday. So we were still collecting our PPA letters alongside the first allowance after noon, though we heard of protest in other states, we listened patiently to the governor's rep. Guess we are following the NYSC motto- humility & service |

Nigerians shaa, massive fraud everywhere. I happen to be at the Benue camp (wannune) with C14 Stream II & I hope same doesn't happen here. From what I have gathered from the business guys @mammy, the officials here rake in multimillions for THEMSELVES. Each business stand is charged 6k for the duration of the camp. If you have been to any camp you would understand what I am saying. Now why would they toy with the small allawee wey dey enter our hand? |
