EMAIL In this piece posted on Daily Post, Bayelsa- born Kali Gwegwe criticizes the political activities of the Vice-presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Yemi Osinbanjo I have deep respect for pastors not necessarily because I am a Christian. I do so because they are Messengers of God. Nevertheless, truth is just. Truth is correctional. It does not cover up errors or weaknesses. These are the fundamental basis for this piece. It has no political undertone. Following his nomination as the running mate to General Muhammadu Buhari, the presidential flag bearer of APC in the February 14 polls; Pastor Yemi Osibanjo has been seen riding in public buses and having two-way engagements with the downtrodden. This is traditionally what is expected of Servant Pastor Yemi Osibanjo is probably among the legion of Christian leaders that criticize Prophet T.B. Joshua of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) for screening his works of charity on Emmanuel TV. They have deliberately refused to acknowledge the fact that T.B. Joshua is simply following in the footsteps of Jesus Christ to show love and compassion for the less privileged. It is owing to his deep understanding of Scriptures that the General Overseer of SCOAN caters for the poor, weak, sick, neglected, rejected, and vulnerable in society. It was therefore curious that Pastor Yemi Osibanjo suddenly realized the important position the downtrodden occupy in society and in the heart of God. In all his years as pastor, Yemi Osibanjo has never been highlighted in the media preaching the Gospel in public buses or taking the message of salvation to personally and directly to the downtrodden. Only God knows how many souls he would have won for Christ if he done so. Many Christians were therefore shocked that he could do the unusual because of political power. My worry is this: Pastor Yemi Osibanjo has sent out a wrong message to the larger society. He has indeed succeeded in making people believe that POLITICS- NOT CHRISTIANITY CAN HELP BRING OUT THE BEST IN MEN. It is sad that desire for political power is what is making him to do what he could not do as a pastor. This is not good for the Christian faith. This piece does not seek to crucify Pastor Yemi Osibanjo. Rather, it is a challenge to all Christians to live up to their callings. Christianity is the pillar of hope for the hopeless, shelter for the vulnerable, and balm for the wounded. Christianity has no season. I just hope that Pastor Yemi Osibanjo will never stop riding in public buses and spending quality time with the downtrodden whether he wins or loses in the February 14, 2015 polls. For those who will rush to accuse me of judging Pastor Yemi Osibanjo, I have a question for them: Is it right for us to holdour leaders accountable for their actions? Pastor Yemi Osibanjo is a Christian leader. What I have done is holding him responsible for his actions. More than that, it is written in Proverbs 27:17 that “Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.” Like any other person, Pastor Yemi Osibanjo is my friend. Gwegew’s criticisms are a bit out of place as he would rather attack the personality of the professor rather than stick to issue. link***** www.naij.com/352083-is-osinbanjo-embarrassing-christians-with-his-conduct.html 1 Like 1 Share |

I thought so too...Why the sudden care to the down trodden in the society?... why didn't he do it when he was just a pastor?, That was when people needed him the most. Well, I'm not surprised, A politician must always exhibit those traits of a "saint" during campaign, their true colours emerges after they occupy the offices. Only gullible Nigerians will fall for all these cheap antics. 5 Likes 1 Share |

This foolishness needs to stop. Because you never saw a picture of him catering to the downtrodden before now doesn't mean that he never did it before. Besides, he is not caring for the downtrodden in those pictures as you suggested, instead he is campaigning for votes and raising awareness for his political ambition in the forthcoming elections. He is not only a pastor or a prof, he is also a politician. Stop criticizing Osinbajo for doing his job as a politician. A man is allowed to have many sides to him. 18 Likes |

tit: It is only dark side to you because you are in the darkness and you love lies more than truth. If it is wrong for a Christian to be a running mate to a Muslim then it must also be wrong for a Christian to work under a Muslim in any professional capacity abi? By the way, Nigeria is not his father's house. Nigeria belongs to all of us, every single tribe equally so you can't accuse him of selling out based on useless tribal or religious sentiments. 9 Likes |

tit:What completely idiotic comment. Like azikwe sold the ibos to the habeas in 1960 ncnc / NPC alliance. Like ojukwu sold the ibos to shagari in 1982 when he returned from exile. Like syvester igoh sold the ibos to Bashir tofa when he was his vice in the 1993 election. If political alliance is the same thing as selling out, the real BASTARDS have being doing it since independence. But then senseless , brainless comments have now become the hallmark of supporters of a sitting president with absolutely no record to show. Brainlessness in support of cluelessmess. babadee1: Nigerians have been so indoctrinated and bastardized with incompetence and lack of care and concern by their leadership that any sign or sight of competence and doing right seems strange, foreign and allergic to them. This is the same society where their president openly opined to them that stealing their money is not corruption and some still love and hope he stays in office, he same people are not safe and secure in their country, but some are willing and ready to keep him in office. This is a societal malady. #Change must come regardless... 5 Likes |

tit: Lol! If we are so few then why are you PDP trolls stressing yourselves here on Nairaland? Let's wait till February then you will see how hopeless your cause is campaigning for GEJ. A man that has been president for six years yet cannot command real respect anywhere in the country. His wife is more respected than he is. Anybody supporting Jonathan is either benefiting from him directly or doing so out of sentiments. I support Buhari because I respect him, he is a man of principles and he knows that ordinary stealing is also corruption. 4 Likes |

Did he go from street to street teaching students? Did he go from street to street preaching gospel? But being desperate for power brings innovation. Politics pays better than proffesor and pastor |

engrtee: How do you know that he didn't preach on the street? Will the actions of every Pastor be on newspapers pages or blogs for you to see where and who they preach to Obviously the attention is on him now because he is running for a political post. A Christian does not need to publicize his preaching , that would be the action of a Pharisee . As a politician it's a different thing as people need to be aware of your moves and campaigning so the 2 things are separate issues. 6 Likes |

As soon as I saw what the fool had to say about tb Joshua I stopped. There is a reason why the pfn will not accept Joshua, and I'm behind them totally. How much did jesus charge for prayers, and did he fake miracles weekly? Now he does not want to appear before the coroners court after over 50 people died in his church premises. 1 Like |
