From the entertainment industry to the
medical profession and politics, these
stars kissed the world farewell, making
one question the reaper which comes in
the form of untimely deaths.
The year 2014 was not without its share
of tragedies and deaths as the passing of
some popular Nigerians shook the
country and left many with tears and
anguish.
From the entertainment industry to the
medical profession and politics, these
stars kissed the world farewell, making
one question the reaper which comes in
the form of untimely deaths.
Naijaloaded brings you some popular
Nigerians who passed away in the year
and made many cry.

Dr. Stella Ameyo Adadevoh
Before the Liberian diplomat, Patrick
Sawyer imported the dreaded Ebola
Virus Disease into the country, Dr. Stella
Adadevoh was one other doctor who
plied her trade of saving lives but her
singular effort in sacrificing her life for
her country made her an instant
heroine.
When the index Ebola patient insisted in
leaving the hospital, she put her foot
down and made sure he was confined
and quarantined to his bed. If he had
been allowed to go into the streets of
Lagos, only God knows the number of
innocent Nigerians he would have
infected and could have caused an
epidemic in the country. He lost his life
later, but not before infecting her.
After a stern battle, the woman of steel
also lost her life, but not after preventing
what would have been a monumental
disaster. Many accolades have continued
to follow her, all of them well deserved,
a testimony to the fact that she risked
her life to save many of her country
people.

Dora Akunyili
Professor Dora Akunyili, a former
Director General of the National Agency
for Food and Drug Administration and
Control and ex-Minister of
Communication was another popular
Nigerian who lost her life in the year
2014. The no nonsense woman who
enforced reforms and regulations in the
drug and food industry in the country
and took on those who took delight in
dealing in fake drugs in the country,
would be sorely missed and remembered
for her doggedness and love for the
country.
Mrs Akunyili who died at the age of 59,
was a member of the National
Conference at the time she died from
cancer.

Kefee
Kukuruku crooner, Irikefe Don Momoh,
known fondly by her fans as Kefee, died
in 2014 also and her death sent ripples
down the spines of Nigerians as she was
much loved. The gospel singer who died
of lung failure in Los Angeles Hospital
in the United States of America on the 12
of June, sent many of her fans into tears
as they could not come to terms with her
untimely death.
Kefee will be remembered for years to
come as her momories will continue to
linger in the minds of those who loved
her.

Amaka Igwe
Another death that was so painful in the
year 2014 was that of Mrs Amaka Igwe,
one of the topmost players in the
Nigerian movie industry, Nollywood.
Igwe was also the owner of foremost
radio station, Top FM 90.0 FM as well as
the CEO of Q Entertainment, the first
Nigerian drama series channel. Aged 51,
Igwe would be remembered for creating
one of Nigeria’s best television series,
Checkmate as well as the super comedy
series, Fuji House of Commotion.
A pioneer of Nollywood, Igwe will also be
immortalized for her contributions to
the arts as well as being one of the
phenomenon behind the industry.

Chaz B
Charles Bruce Chukwuma, known to
many as Chaz B, will be missed by
listeners of his inspiring radio
programme, Sharing Life Issues with
Chaz B on Rhythm 93.7 FM. Chaz B who
anchored the programme for years,
motivating and inspiring fans by his
words, died in November, 2014, and till
date, many of his admirers still find it
difficult to believe he is gone.
Chaz B who was a multiple award
winner and greatly loved by all, died
after a protracted illness and with him
gone, 2014 also took away one of the best
voices on radio.
As we step into 2015 may we or any member
of our families never find a reason to
mourn. Happy New Year!!!!
