Labour Party: Those That Endorsedjonathan Are Impostors by Rilwayne001: 10:49am On Mar 16, 2015
Following the meeting by the National Executive
Council held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, where
some members of the Labour Party (LP) purportedly
endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) in this month’s election, the
leadership of the party in Abuja on Sunday said it had
not endorsed any candidate.

The Chairman, National Caretaker Committee of the
party, Salisu Nuhu Mohammed, said the endorsement
of President Jonathan was done by those he described
as ‘impostors’ and not the real party members.
His words: “We have on many occasions stated this
and I need to re-emphasise this even at the pains of
being accused of repetition that Labour Party is not
fielding any candidates at all levels in the 2015
elections. All those who parade themselves as leaders
of Labour Party and go about deceiving members of
the public on their status, are impostors.

“The so- called NEC meeting said to have been held on
March 11, 2015 in Ibadan was an illegality, it had no
powers to adopt any person or persons for
any political office.

“For the avoidance of doubt, LP has not gone into any
alliance, merger or understanding with any of the
existing political parties including PDP, APC and any
other party for that matter,” Mohammed added.
“Therefore, we are not endorsing President Jonathan of
the PDP or General Muhammadu Buhari of the APC. I
hasten to add up for all those who might have been
deceived by impostors, the more than N1million
workers are not amused by the antics of one A.A
Salam,” he concluded.

Mohammed stated that their members are free to
exercise their franchise and vote in line with their
conscience and not according to the dictate of A.A
Salam.

The caretaker chairman equally lamented how the
Ebonyi State Governor, Mr. Elechi Martins, who is not
a card carrying member of the party would dissolved
the party in his state to save himself from
impeachment by the state House of Assembly.

“In a bid to save himself from the impeachment, Elechi
opportunistically obeyed a directive given to him by
the PDP to collapse the LP in the state into PDP. It
seems there is no limit to the absurdity of the likes of
A.A Salam will be willing to go in their desperate bid
for personal aggrandisement.”

Speaking on the NLC election, he stressed that the
party was worried about the unfolding event, while
urging that Ayuba Waba and Joe Ajero should consider
the overall interest of the Nigerian workers above any
other interest and sheathe their swords.
