This is not my thread but as u hv not been answered let me use the opportunity to answer ur question. You will be needing 4 units of 200w solar panels to charge your batteries to fit to your Wattshour usage and 30 amps charge controller. @chapell, I have read this thread completely and noticed you only operate in Lagos. At this time I need you to give me Quotation as I intend switching to Solar system. I'm currently living in a 4 bedroom bungalow. 1. Home theatre. 3, 32" TV, and 1, 60" TV 1 deep freezer, 1 fridge. 4 ceiling fan and 3 standing fan. 1hp AC, Over 40 energy saving bulbs (spot light) And washing machine. I understand that some of these appliance may be removed, however, I need you to tell me how many solar panels I need to power everything. (Plus or minus the AC and fridge) I want the total qoute please. I will appreciate your response. Thanks. |

Tplklaw:Whats the model of your inverter? If you want to increase it to 4, you have to buy 4 new set of batteries. I dont recommend mixing old batteries and new ones |

Charpell: The model of the inverter is Powerstar W7. The batteries were installed about a month ago. I ve uploaded picture of the inverter. What specification (types, model and number) of solar panels and charge controller do you recommend? The guy who installed it does not look like professional to me. Thanks 1 Share

Tplklaw:Alright since its just a month old, you can 2 more batteries to your system. For the (types, model and number), I recommend mono, simbad, 200watts(4)unit for you 2 batteries. The problem with simbad panels is the cost as per Germany product. If you cant afford it, you can opt for the china ones. but the keyword is mono crystalline. Charge Controller, 30 amps will do. Tplklaw:As Charpell has rightly said, you wil need 8 panels of 200w each to efficiently charge 800amps bank. however, the panel is calculate as 8 with regard to 10% possible panel inefficiency or power loss along the cable as well as your possible usage during the day. 80amps charge controller (note that if ur array volts matches with ur bank voltage, u should choose PWM controller. and MPPT if ur array volts exceeds bank volts). Simbad and PSC are good choice if cash isnt a problem (they are quiet xpensive) or you go for other cheaper brand such as SPP, Sunshine, suntech or sukam. 1 Like |

Good day Charpell. I have a 1.5KVA inverter with two 12V 200AH batteries. What kind of solar system do I need to efficiently charge the batteries to a minimum capacity of 95% and whats the cost?.
