GREAT AKOKITE.... GREAT!!!
Feat like this is one more reason that makes me wanna say "Am Proud to be an Akokite". More of this to come and all you haters should continue wailing.
UNILAG: home of Stars and Dignitaries...

I am not so elated as last year's model (AUTONOV II) was better. I celebrated this last year and hoped to see an improvement this year. I am not an engineer but this doesnt look like an improvement.

anyway, I hope a Nigerian School comes out on top in this year's competition

It runs on electricity , I heard it's top speed is 40kmph, it attains top speed at 3Hp, compared to a regular kia picanto that attains same speed with 75HP on fuel..

Even the Tesla series needs to be charged remember. Ain't you curious to know where they got the piston from, who designed the engine block, what material is the shaft made from. As an eco friendly car what's the power cycle like? See eh I don tire. They should just stop showcasing mediocrity and making the Nigeria educational institutions appear like one big Christmas joke.

Can the car move?
Re: UNILAG Undergraduates Build Eco-friendly Car (Photos) by Nobody: 12:17pm On Aug 21, 2015
The designer of this car, Olukoya Olusanya was my classmate in school that year. Koya has so strong a passion for automobile that no one really should.

Cheers!

Well, tbh, I know very little of all the mechanical engineering jargon you used there. Am a biological scientist, can even drive a car yet, the only thing I can do to a car for now is to wash it. lol.
But still, I believe they need to be encouraged.

Nah wah! Nigerians plss stop ruashing into things without planning well...if u match brake for this motor and ur ogor nack that metal sheet behind, wh happens next?

Well, this yorobah guy made a better ride than the one my abokee bros made sometime ago and said its lambo-gini? Its also better than one death machine my igbo brothers made a few days back.

Is that a car or a coffin? Nice innovation with a mediocre and a crappy design. Guys you can do better than this coffin with steering wheel.

The car is electric so it doesn't make use of a piston, but a rotor, the guy (Koya) who did the design and calculations is a car genius..dude has worked wif local mechanics and volkswagen so wen he talks cars I respect him, he even used regular car batteries as getting the type of batteries he needed was out of his cost range....wen I saw the chasis I was so amazed at how simple the design and construction looked for a complex thing called a car.....

They say the car doesn't emit gas doesn't utilize fossil fuel
Very easy to say. Why didn't they disclose what powers it?

If it is powered by battery, they should say.

Nigerians don't ask questions, they believe everything.

My bad on the piston thing. My brother, anything worth doing should be done well. I admire him but........

A team of students in the University of Lagos built an eco-friendly car. They say the car doesn't emit gas doesn't utilize fossil fuel. They built the car under the Project Dove Initiative and have successfully completed their first model, Dove P1, utilizing locally sourced materials and building it right here in the university of Lagos. Well done to them.

Absolute 100% crap
Is this the sort of nonsense that passes for "innovative" in Nigeria??

While those so-called university "engineering" students stare in awe at this crap, high school students; secondary school students; kids, not adults; high school kids build meaningful pieces of tech around the US and other developed countries.

What a shame, "Nigeria" and "innovation"/"innovative" shouldn't even be on the same sentence.

Meaning of Innovative:
innovative /ˈɪnəvətɪv/

adjective
(of a product, idea, etc.) featuring new methods;
advanced and original.

Locally-sourced materials and ecofriendly my foot!

Nigerian students build electric powered car

A group of Nigerian engineering students have built a track focused, four wheeled electric car using locally sourced
materials and purely indigenous technology. Its innovators say the world is running out of fossil fuels, and Nigeria
will soon need to move towards hybrids and electric cars
