Weeks ago, the photos of a wooden car built by a Bida, Niger State man, surfaced on social media. The car was made with wood and motorcycle engine, but the creative work was ridiculed by many people who felt it was not innovative. Now, Toyota is set to release its first wooden car and it has triggered a conversation on how we barely encourage local creators, dreamers and innovators. According to Gizmodo, Toyota will be releasing the Setsuna car in April at the Milan Design Week. The Setsuna is an electric car which reportedly will last for 100 years. So, why don’t we encourage our own works, social media users have asked. Some pointed out that the wood used in building the Setsuna is treated to protect it from mold, fungi and it would withstand thermal heating. Others pointed out that the innovation in the Bida man’s creation is the conception and birthing of the idea first, and then the work can be improved upon if investors are willing to encourage local producers. They also have emphasised on the lack of encouragement given to local producers, in contrast to the praise showered on foreign-made goods See some of the reactions above Source: http://www.trezzyblog.com/2016/03/why-dont-we-encourage-ours-reactions-as.html

That moment when they bump your car and the log of wood on your bumper shatters by the time u wash your wood several times and the fungi protection washes off with it, the kind cockroach and termite wey u go dey transport.. the insecticide u ll invest in will be much more than that of the brake or engine oil even better, by the time a car gets old, na to use am make fire for ceremonial cooking Furniture/carpenter, congratulations, it is a new world for u, u ll surely take over from panel beaters.. if u know what i mean 1 Like |
