kendrick93:Always do proper research before you allow your victim mentality to take over. Enugu stadium has been Astroturf for a very long time. Super Eagles don't play on Astroturf when a workable approved natural pitch is available. Besides, The Enugu Stadium was part of the seven stadiums submitted to and approved by CAF as W/C qualifier grounds. Now keep quiet sir. 15 Likes 3 Shares |

I am grateful that we won despite the horrible pitch. but, to be honest, our team doesn't inspire or present me any confidence that we can lift next year ANC with today's performance. There wasn't apparent team cohesion, balance and we just looked like a team saturated with Individual Gifted players rather than teamwork. First of all, Playing a 424 makes the team imbalanced and if the coach wants to utilize a " 2 striker" system, he must changed that formation. 352, 3412, but never 424 Personally, I don't trust Ekong, balogun, Aina and Collins to be instrumental at the world stage, but they're good enough to win domestic title with the right coaching. In midfield, Joe aribo hasn't played any decent game for us at the continent and maybe the horrible pitch accounted for it. At the wings, the Simon Moses, Ahmed Musa hasn't impressed me in a long time for SE and on current form, I will rather Ejuke, onyekuru on the wings. Upfront: Osimehn was disappointing with his 1st touch, awareness and missed chances but scrutinizing his super eagles stats, he can be forgiven for today's below average performance. Overall, I was impressed with Ndidi, iheanacho and Iwobi while rest were bang average or Bad. As for coach Rohr, he needs to shove sentiment aside and select his best Available 11, select a balanced formation and stop compromising "familiarity" with "competence". In football, anything can happen but analyzing super eagles performance in respect to our opponent, we're an Anc semi final contender and another WC group stage exit (assuming we Qualify) except a drastic change occur 7 Likes 2 Shares |

Pound for pound, Algeria doesn't have a better overall squad than Nigeria but the way their coach set his team, they have the best team in Africa right now. This is the utmost importance of good coaching. It's not too late for Rohr to change and I hope he changes his ways 8 Likes |

Whatever happens, we need avoid dropping out of top 5 in Africa. This is because it'll allow us to avoid teams like Algeria and Senegal when the seeding is calculated for playoffs in the 3rd round. In other words, staying in the top 5 will allow us to be in the same pot as those two teams when the draw takes place. 4 Likes |

Ppogbae: If you're afraid of those two, then you don't have any business in going to the world cup. The Senegal I watched against Togo is nothing Special. Even Algeria Man to Man can't be compared to Nigeria players. I watched our last AFCON 2019 match with them (full match) and I noticed that they actually played nothing extraordinary. What the have is that Team play and a good coach 2 Likes |

Tolulopefinest: Its about playing it smart. It is ideal to face lesser opposition in times like this. No one wants to run into a big team during world cup qualifiers and I'm sure other African teams are thinking alike. 3 Likes |

Zaidu Sanusi linked to Fernabache. To be candid, I normally watch Fc Porto's match because I normally pick them in my prediction tips . The Sanusi in Fc Porto is a beast. He hardly put any foot wrong. I wonder why they want to offload him. Let him go to where he will be appreciated . That guy is fast and a modern day left back 4 Likes 1 Share |

Ppogbae:Football is now unpredictable. While avoiding Algeria and Senegal don’t rule out those small teams as they can’t be underrated. Have you forgotten how we failed to qualify for AFCON back to back from groups that had small teams just before Rohr was hired?. If we can’t beat these teams then we have no business going to the WC. 3 Likes |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Ppogbae: 9:21am On Sep 04, 2021 |
Tolulopefinest: We’ll avoid them if we finish this round as top 5 in Africa. CAF has reverted back to 2014 qualification rules for this year meaning the teams will be seeded in the final round. The top 5 in Africa will be placed in Pot 1 while the bottom 5 will be placed in Pot 2. Again, we want our road to Qatar to be as smooth and easy as possible. The goal at the moment is to qualify - that’s all that matters. 2 Likes |

Sure we should try to tow the line of least resistance enroute to Qatar 2022 BUT how scary a proposition are we to the other hopefuls? Are you aware that Nigeria have not lost a world cup qualifier on the pitch since 20 June 2004 in Luanda when Angola had a 1-0 win in the race to Germany 2006? That run including the game yesterday goes on for 35 games and counting.....spanning over 17 years! The Longest in African history and second longest in the world. In that period we have been to Cameroon, Algeria, Tunisia, South Africa, Zambia etc and eliminated them all. Even when we genuinely play rubbish we are a frightening prospect to the rest. 3 Likes |

Senegal 1 Tunisia 2 Algeria 3 Morocco 4 Nigeria 5 Ghana 6 Cameroon 7 Mali 8 Libya 9 Benin 10 All top their groups from match day1. Arranged according to FIFA ranking, if this happens to be last games who do fancy us facing in bottom 5 ? |
