Nerdie, the fact say we get disagreement mean say we dey authentic to ourselves. I am a firm believer that if people for the same clique dey true to themselves dem go disagree for certain things every now and then. So thanks for being your authentic self. This is not a jab on anyone oh. As regards the AFCON, as it draws nearer me I don catch a different variant of this flu which calls for extra extra caution, considering the drama leading to this AFCON and the uncertainties. But I think it only makes it more exciting. Seeing new names is like a breath of fresh air. I am just looking forward to Nigeria playing better. No high expectations for now.. toes crossed! haha.. pie charts and graph, another moniker don take that baton. Even my formation builder sef, dem no only take d baton but they run with am. I dey find another fresh one to bring come. Happy New Year bro! TheSuperNerd: 1 Like |

CRonaldo started as a winger. Now he plays as a striker! Messi began as a striker; now he plays from the right or the middle! Kante plays as a DM in Leicester, now he plays box to box/DM at Chelsea. Iwobi's best game for Nigeria has been him playing the number 10 role: The goal that took us to the world cup against Zambia. Scored away to Lesotho. Against sierra leone, Iwobi scored two magnificent goals, but things fell apart when Rohr moved him to the left! Iwobi categorically said he prefers the number 10 role in a 4-3-3, but Rohr continues to use Iheanacho in that role. When Rohr changed to 3-5-2, all the players were confused! Iwobi and Aribo don't know what to do. A new system with just two days of training, and Nigerians expect them to play like Messi? The mistake Rohr made was trying to accommodate Nacho, Iwobi, and Aribo. Playing Iwobi on the left side in a 4-3-3 unbalanced the team because he doesn't stay there; he always moves to the 10 or 8 roles leaving Collins to run the whole length of the wings for 90 minutes. Iwobi has never been atrocious as a ten, so please let the boy breath. Aribo scored against Ukraine and Brazil because we had Chukweze and Kalu/Simon ran at them from the wings, thereby opening up the midfield. Pep even prefers wingers (dribblers) to strikers. Dribblers open up games! How can you play 3-5-2 without dribblers? Rohr was stupid! Our team is well balanced; just put the right players in their best positions. Let Ejuke/Simon and Chuz/Henry/Olayinka run at them from the wings. Onyeka (box to box), Ndidi (DM), and Iwobi/Aribo (AM). Sadiq (pace, calmness, skills, and height)/ Awo (Strength, height, agility and pace)/ Nacho (Calmness, passing ability, and shooting technique)/ Desser (pace, agility, and calmness). We gat this!! Papi85: Charles, Charles, Charles... relax. I understand where you are coming from. Do you know if Alhassan made this team, he would be my first choice in the CM role? When the withdrawals of players began, I was on twitter crying for the possibility of slotting in Alhassan Yusuf. Majorly because we are understaffed in the middle and Nwakali won't have a tactical cover for the skillset he has. He is the only one in that Midfield with a particular skillset that enhances our midfield dynamics. Look my man, putting sentiments and our disagreements on the lad aside, We both know that there is nobody in the current Super Eagles Midfield who can pick out a pass to and from anywhere on the field of play with effortless grace apart from Nwakali. If you have taken the time to watch him recently like I have, you would discover this again. His performances of late have been beautiful to watch both from offensive and defensive phases POV. Eye test shows everything but some numbers also reveal a lot. Since you are a stats man, go on sofascore for yourself and see his ratings for his last five games. Check for yourself and come tell us what you see. And honestly, looking at our team, I honestly feel Nwakali can do a job for us alongside Aribo's Goal threat and high technique and Ndidi's all round Defensive actions. It is all about tactical balance. A ball winner, a goal scoring MF, and a Midfield conductor. This is Midfield balance. And I hope it's applied and that it clicks superbly. The other options we have are Onyeka (a pressing machine and ball winner) and Iwobi (an AM). So you see.. no other deeplying Playmaker is present in our list apart from Nwakali. See how Ghana lacked a MF controller today and got torn apart by Zorgane (a CM/Playmaker) and Zerrouki. Midfield Control mixed with Grits is the way to go. Not Grits only. Have both Brawn and Brain. 4 Likes 1 Share

Papi85: Your first paragraph sounds like you are expecting positive vibes from Eguavon . Cus Rohr has been restricting Aribo by playing him in a deeper role... You don't even like Eguavon because he is local, lol.. To your second paragraph, it will depend on the nature of the opposition and how I want to approach the game.. In truth, I'm not sold on the hypes on Nwakali yet because he hasn't played yet for the super eagles..he might be doing well at his club, but until he plays for the super eagles and replicate such performance before I'll be wowed..Heading to the 2018 world cup, Joel Obi was hailed as the second coming of Xavi and Iniesta combined and as the solution to our lack of creativity..those who hyped him then weren't totally wrong cus he was doing well at his club, but when he played for the super eagles, it was an eyesore.. So I'm not party to anything until I see Nwakali play in the super eagles. I've however mentioned before that a player of his skillset is needed in the team due to our lack of options there... 2 Likes 1 Share |

Have you not considered that part of the reason Haidara and Mwepu are making waves now is because of their physicality and "power" which Europeans generally tag Africans as having alone. Why do u think Mikel was converted from an AM into a DM? Why didn't they use his brains in the AM role? Look, Nwakali is blessed with technique and touch that neither Haidara nor Mwepu can buy. All they have going for them is their power and physicality which is what European clubs actually love more about African Midfielders thus limiting them to Defensive duties. And also, I mentioned 3 different levels of football where Nwakali clearly bossed his own physical African brothers not with power but with classy touches and technique. Watch him at Huesca. Watch his last 6 games. You would see that I don't exaggerate about what he brings. Papi85: 1 Like 1 Share |

Mujtahida: You have teams that really don't play with traditional wingers but rather use the wingbacks as the wingers. For instance, in Liverpool look at the number of pin point accurate crosses Trent puts in a game as well as defence splitting passes . He then can put in some outstanding shots left or right foot it doesn't matter, 9 assists this season already. And he is a RWB the same goes for Robertson, although he's not as good as Trent. What this does is create a forward line of three attackers , no surprise the number of goals Salah and Mane have scored. In addition very hard working very disciplined midfielders, who keep things going. Our problem is we have traditional strikers who get no support from thier wingers, in a very structured , traditional disciplined set up. We are in easier group IT SEEMS, Guinea B and Sudan should not trouble us if we play our best players and take the game very serious with strict team discipline and cohesion. No room for complacency. |

Anyway yes, it's exciting seeing the new names that will run the show for us at the Afcon. Gives us a really good chance to look at them, assess them and see if they are worth the fuss and noise. But caution is still the way to go like you rightly stand by. I just appreciate the mix of caution and excitement at this time. Time will tell how things unravel for us in Cameroun. Joebie: 1 Like |

semid4lyfe:Honestly this Ighalo issue is really funny First of all, I blame Rohr for bringing back Ighalo just to embarrass him. But he too doesn't have sense. He signed a contract and doesn't even know what it contains. I doubt if he even read it through. He may not have known he was under such a clause. It think Dessers might be the one. Because only his name is popping up in rumors. Even single rumor since this AFCON started has come true. He may have been told not to say it yet. But you know how things spread. He may have told someone who told someone that told someone. I think Ighalo was being too desperate that's why Eguavoen left him all this while. I heard he already showed up and has been avoiding cameras. According to what I heard, his matter was put on pause so that the team can prepare for travel. After they arrive in Cameroon, decision will be taken on him. |

Relax Komekn. When last did you watch Nwakali? I could drop videos of his most recent games for you to see for yourself. Done nothing beyond U17 football? Come on Dude, he literally dragged Alcorcón from the death of relegation last season. He was their most outstanding player. A team of "Ekukes" yet he led them from the middle and gave them a pattern and control. Player of the Month to go with it and named one of the most exciting revelations by various Spanish media outlets. Coming to the current season, He's been MVP even in his last Copa Del Rey game for Huesca vs Girona (a top 6 team in La Liga 2). His last game before coming to camp was again vs Girona in la liga 2. Nwakali again had a pretty good performance. Check your stats apps and see if I am lying. Better prepare to watch Nwakali on your screens at the Afcon. I know you hoping he flops but that would be also hoping the team flops. See? komekn: 3 Likes 1 Share |
