codemaniacs: Spain's loss was down to the tactical growth of teams. That is the factor missing in the French team. |

TheGoodJoe: Ronaldinho lost his place not just due to racism but also because he was gaining weight and not serious about having a fit body. It is an abomination to say Pedro is miles ahead of Ronaldinho tactically. Pedro can't lace Ronaldinho's boots in any lifetime. Pedro is a Catalan like G:uardiola and Guardiola is a tribalist. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 2:35pm On Aug 19, 2022 |
codemaniacs: Pedro can not lace Ronaldinho's boots when it comes to skills, taking on players, scoring acrobatic goals, etc. When it comes to pressing the last line of defence, tracking back to defend, attacking free spaces, opening for passes etc, Pedro beats Ronaldinho hands down. So Pep will always hinge towards a player that can give him what he wants. Pedro is miles ahead of Ronaldinho tactically. |

TheGoodJoe: It is not true that controllers are generally the better managers, it is all about what you want, what the fans want and what the owners want. See Guardiola has better win percentage in the modern era not necessarily because is the absolute best! Yes, he loves to pass teams to oblivion, naturally he likes to dominate, follow me. The rich club owners love their teams to dominate other teams (it is the syche of the average rich man) so they keep hiring Guardiola who is as obsessed as they (the rich men)are Guardiola inturn keeps buying the best players, coupled with his undeniable knowledge in possession play, he keeps winning! Simple logic! It doesn't necessarily make him the best ever, it is just what it is. |

So....................... If the team of France 98, Brazil 02 , Italy 06, Spain 2010, Germany 2014 and France 2018 all in their prime were to be placed in a two legged league. Do you think the Spanish side of 2010 will top the others ?. 1 Like |

Hanibal: Even when you go to other leagues, you see the same. Look at Italian league with the likes of Poli, Inzaghi, Spaletti, Sarri, Gasperini, etc. Go to Germany, you see the same thing. Even in the Championship, Belgian league. All over, we are seeing a dramatic change to embrace possession principles. That is because with a possession based strategy, you have a higher chance of winning. These things have even been tested in simulation models. Las Las, France 98 teams were lost tactically compared to the conquering Spanish side. |

TheGoodJoe: TheGoodJoe: TheGoodJoe: you're a clown 2014 world cup was on the American continent so for most countries it was like home matches even U.S.A reached 2nd round... Chile had better players simple... prime Alexis Sanchez, vidal e.t.c.. go and try stand up comedy Football analysis is not your thing |

oluwasunkanmi97: Spanish team will finish bottom of the group... most of that set of spanish players are short... the other teams will use corner kicks , headers , free kicks e.t.c. to beat them.. Italy of 2006 had prime Pirlo, Cannavaro, Gattuso, Inzaghi, Buffon, Del Piero, De Rossi, Francesco Totti , Luca Toni, Maldini , Nesta , Zanetti , Grosso e.t.c.. 1 Like |

codemaniacs: Abuses will not help your point. At the end, Sampaoli used some mind blowing pressing strategy to nullify the possession game of Spain. It was analysed repeatedly. He is a student of Bielsa. So, tactical depths played a big part in the demolition and the French team lacked that. The point is too simple. 1 Like |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by codemaniacs: 3:12pm On Aug 19, 2022 |
TheGoodJoe: TheGoodJoe: Football is not just about the Coaches, its mainly about the players that's why the same Jurgen Klopp and other managers are spending over $60m for players.. South Americans and even Africans play street football and in street football you close down your opponents and that's the mentality they had and not just about the coach's coaching... Even some people on this thread say Osimhen plays aggressively when his actually playing the normal Nigerian way and some people also on this thread say Nigerians and Africans play physical football when in reality and truth its pressing football we play just that some African players can be overly physical... If you're watching the U20 women's World Cup you'll notice the Falconets always pressing their opponents without been overly and too physical.... for people like you when non-Africans do it then its pressing but when Nigerians and Africans do it then its gra-gra... 8 Likes |

oluwasunkanmi97: I don't. Which of them understood how to press as a unit. Which of them understood how to drop deep to help build play. It is just not the same way of play. That was why when Guardiola came in, he literally ghosted past all teams. Broke all records because all teams were tactically deficient compared to his team. That was why Spain was easily a dominant force in that era too. The Brazilian team were of the 97-2000 era were tactical amateurs to Spain. They won't even see ball to play. |

TheGoodJoe: you're saying nonsense by saying "Which of them understood how to press as a unit. Which of them understood how to drop deep to help build play. It is just not the same way of play." All of them knew how to drop deep and help build play... you're talking about players that love ( not like ) carrying and running with the ball from defense to offense as if its nothing ... if you watch videos of Denilson, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, R. Carlos, Rivaldo, Cafu e.t.c you'll see videos of them running with the ball from defense to offense if that's not building play to you then it is an abomination to call those players tactical amateurs.. Its Spain that won't see ball to play.. |

codemaniacs: Carrying the ball is not build-up play. The building takes place in blocks. Not solo runs. That alone nullifies these players with respect to the system of play. When you drop deep, there is a reason for it. Mainly to create passing lanes and make the team play fluid. Making the team play fluid is making use of passing options. Those guys were phenomenal in talent but lacked the tactical advancement the world has experienced at the time Spain dominated. The Brazilian team will not see the ball to even play. |

andrewbaba44: Holland was the main culprit... if not for Robben's poor finishing Holland would have won.... there was nothing special about that Spanish team... its the same way Super Eagles isn't at the 2022 world cup due to poor finishing of Moses Simon and Osimhen's high propensity to be offside.. thegoodjoe will say it was chris H:ugton and Addo superior and advanced tactical prowess that made Ghana qualify 4 Likes |

codemaniacs: I do not really look at results for a game. Results add ups with time. However, in the first leg, the Ghanaians were tactically superior. In the second game, our approach was not as sound as I expected. On the whole, I believe the better side tactically qualified (Ghana) but we had the players to have done a good job. We failed at it. |

Danielnino00: As by 2014, a lot of teams have studied the system and there was a tactical approach to make it difficult for them. However, Germany which was the most advanced in studying it still won. My point is that the France team of 98 lacked the tactical arsenal to stop the Spaniards in 2010. |

TheGoodJoe: you see why I said you should do stand-up comedy I've seen your problem.. If e:uropeans say carrying and running with the ball is build-up play then you'll agree Your problem is inferiority complex if you saw the pass De-Bruyne gave Haaland for his 2nd goal against West Ham you won't be saying this trash because that's how teams played in the 90s and 2000s... that's the job of a #10. or the pass Eze gave Zaha for his goal against Liverpool. In the 90s and 2000s, teams like Brazil, Italy, Germany had at least 2 "De-Bruyne/Eze/Iniesta/Xavi/Pirlo/Juninho/Ronaldinho/G.Silva" players in their teams that could dribble and run with ball and play a midfield and defense splitting pass that the striker will score... not the sideways ultra passing Spanish teams that are powerless without Xavi and Iniesta that today every team now thinks passing sideways is build-up play... If there is anyone that uses build-up play then its Arsene Wenger just that the Arsenal board messed him up.. Arsenal and many other teams have been playing possessive football before Guardiola became a coach. |

So in this order of the table, it should be ; 1st. Spain 2010 2nd. Germany 2014 3rd. Italy 2006 4th. Brazil 2002 5th. France 1998 6th. France 2018. Right Or is there anybody with a different opinion |
