Mickael2:I agree with you about the work rate of Kayode, he reminds me of when Carlos Tevez was at Manchester City also like Ji Sung Park and Dirk Kuyt put together but he misses goals more than a woman missing her period. We need strikers that can bury half chances now that we are lacking in terms of prolific goal scorers in the SE safe for the DRILLING One in the team that has a good goal game ratio 1 Like |

BascoVanVeli: Salary is a big factor in players moving from the NPFL. I am not saying salary is Odey's motivating factor. I do not like the idea of going to Russia but if that is the best approach for him, there is nothing we can do. |

TheGoodJoe: TheGoodJoe: The practice is the most important part. The game time is to test he result. Recently Rashford was on the bench. Worked hard in training and raised his game. When he got a run, we could see he has raised his game. Simple. ) l The training is the most important. TheGoodJoe:I think you are conflating preparation for a week by week sports with preparation for something that is far off like for example an exam. In football training is NOT the most important. It is important though. Have you ever considered that playing time is a form of preparation and training for the next game? Have you ever considered that through playing time a player gets to know which aspects of his game he ought or should work on during drill time? 3 Likes |

Are you not getting something here? The fact that it is his strongest point doesnt automatically make him no.1 when compared to others in pressing... In medical school... one's strongest point may be pathology instead of pharmacology or anatomy or physiology or even biochemistry but that doesnt mean he is the class's best in pathology... tu comprends? TheSuperNerd: This is Kayode's primary trait, as in it's the main thing he knows how to do! When I watch football I always watch how the strikers press, I remember in the U23 thread GoodJoe said Sadiq was pressing, I told him he was pressing aimlessly not effectively, for me whenever I watch football I always watch the pressing part very well. Now to the question, do you think that any amount of training can make Messi a better 'presser' that Tevez? At the U17 level Nacho was very poor in that aspect while Kayode was excellent there, credit to pep for improving Nacho's pressing abilities but he is still below Kayode in pace and pressing atleast |

TheSuperNerd: lol I saw what you did there, well that's for medical school. You know hard biochemistry is, if you do not know it at all, no matter how hard you try you can't just pick up and become the best in biochemistry. Nacho was very poor when it came to pressing back in his U17, and pressing isn't easy to learn, credit to him for the much he has learnt but Kayode was already very good there. |

Mickael2: Kayode is better presser than Kelechi. His second goal today was simply because of pressing. Kelechi's strong points are his finishing ability and his eye for a pass. The passing part is no longer so obvious. 5 Likes |

bigblangston: Thank you, but the problem now is that judging based on our last match against Senegal, Nacho is no longer putting away the half-chances so what makes him a better option than Kayode now? I am not saying Kayode is the best we have, but presently he deserves a shot, a serious one |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Mickael2(m): 7:54pm On Apr 29, 2017 |
tbaba1234: thank you very much. Which brings me to the question, since his strongest point is his ability to put away chances, we saw from our last game that he wasn't even able to put away the chances again, so why should my suggestion that Kayode could start ahead of Nacho an absurd suggestion? 1 Like |

At the U-17 level.... Nacho had his role... and the team played as one... attacked as one and pressed as one.... so saying Nacho's work rate or pressing was very poor is debatable... that team always had the ball most times and recovered it almost as soon as they lost it...each player did their part very well.... And we no dey talk messi and tevez... we dey talk Nacho and Kayode.... You say Nacho is not fast.... Our very first goal at u-17 level saw Nacho start the counter deep in midfield that released success to run at the Mexican defence towards the left Wing... nacho sprinted from deep in midfield and got into position for success to give him the ball... and you say nacho is not fast... from his u-17 days, Nacho's speed in keeping up with counters was deadly and very pronounced.... What about the counter of the Nigeria-mexico final... ? I could cite as many examples... and now this same Iheanacho has been made to operate majorly as a no.9 at city and has even improved his speed and stamina and also his pressing and you say he is behind Kayode.... Kayode is a workaholic... he has always been and will always be. That is his style but it doesn't make him the boss of pressing in the super eagles.... Coz Iheanacho actually does it better.... You need to watch Nacho closely when he presses... a good example is the Algeria game.... watch him closely... that lad got bad-ass stamina now due to the intense training at City.... it amazed me to be honest.... and his speed on the counter is blistering... Watch his counter run against Luxembourg and judge for yourself... to dissect these matters may require time for in depth scrutiny.. but I have given you examples... Kayode we know... he is fast and a workaholic... but In Iheanacho we have a player who has both qualities also and is at par or even better than Kayode in pace and pressing and then brings much more to the table... I have watched Kayode... I have watched Nacho... and I still watch them.... Iheanacho trumps Kayode... and that is the truth. Mickael2: 1 Like |

Mujtahida: After playing the match, the team needs to hit the training pitch in preparation for the next game. It I during the training that the coach can work on the players and improve them. When the player reach the field, it is up to them to deliver the things learnt in training. The training is the most important part. Fact. |

Mickael2: Leave the long talk. They were in camp recently and Nacho earned the reviews. Not Kayode. When it came to fitness, that is after stamina drills by Rohr, Ogu and Iheanacho shone not Kayode. Nacho did not have game time. Kayode did but it did not make Kayode better. Finito. |

TheSuperNerd: Kelechi is an overall better player but he is not a better presser than Kayode. The goal we scored against Senegal was due to Kayode's pressing. Kelechi was poor against Algeria. He made some positive runs but there was nothing great about his pressing game. 5 Likes |

TheGoodJoe: watch that game again, most of the balls we won were in the midfield, Nacho's pressing 'looked' effective because of Mikel's intelligent positioning. Nacho pressed against Algeria but even in the short cameo against Senegal, Kayode showed that he could press even more |
