TheGoodJoe: The third best player in Nigeria 99 was Pablo COUNAGO not Xavi. Xavi was in Barca B in 1998 not the main team. He had cameo appearances for the main team like many youth players. |

tbaba1234: Barcelona Edit 1998–2001 Edit His progression through the teams earned him a first-team appearance in a Copa Catalunya match against Lleida on 5 May 1998[20] and he scored his first goal on 18 August 1998 in the Super Cup final against RCD Mallorca. His début in La Liga came against Valencia CF on 3 October 1998 in a 3–1 victory for Barcelona. |

tbaba1234: Your right Pablo got the bronze ball. Been a while. Well, he was one of the top players of the competition. From FIFA Website, (1999) Rising Stars: Esteban Cambiasso (ARG), Ronaldinho (BRA), Ashley Cole (ENG), Shinji Ono (JPN), Koji Nakata (JPN), Seol Ki-Hyeon (KOR), Seydou Keita (MLI), Rafael Marquez (MEX), Julius Aghahowa (NGA), Roque Santa Cruz (PAR), Damien Duff (IRL), Robbie Keane (IRL), Gabri (ESP), Xavi (ESP), Fabian Carini (URU), Diego Forlan (URU), There is no way Xavi was not a teenage sensation. |

Fact is even as Aguero's understudy, Nacho trumps them all in goals/goals ratio and more in the no.9 role.... That is FACT. NOT OVERHYPE.... LOL... Wonder why you'all afraid to face the truth. edi287: 1 Like |

tbaba1234:From Xavi's Wiki page. 1999 La Liga Breakthrough Player of the Year. Xavi became Barcelona's principal playmaker after an injury to Pep Guardiola in the 1999–2000 season. Teenage Sensation. |

Stop that lie Biko!!! Sanchez play as striker for Chile?? Lollll.... Then tell me I pray thee where "Vargas" plays... *smiles* edi287: |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by edi287: 11:55pm On Sep 29, 2016 |
TheSuperNerd:Sanchez has played as a striker for chile alot of times. Goldfish80 posted a pic of chile's formation vs Brazil at the world cup. Infact he has been playing as a striker from river plate to udinese to barca and arsenal. Wenger initially bought him to be our Suarez but it wasn't working out. He can do a job as a striker either in a 2 or as a lone striker. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by edi287: 11:58pm On Sep 29, 2016 |
TheSuperNerd:Looool after 3 games This reminds me of the 13/14 season where podolski played 3 games and scored 2 and had a 100 percent shot accuracy. If we go by that logic, podolski was the best striker in the league then?? Na wa oo. Saying Nacho would get into arsenal first 11 is like me saying Iwobi would bench nolito which is not true. 1 Like |

I know about all of Sanchez's history and playing positions (main and improvised) and have been on him since his starring at the 2007 Fifa U-20 World Cup. But the question is simple. Who's Chile's Main striker?? Vargas or Sanchez? edi287: |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by edi287: 12:00am On Sep 30, 2016 |
goldfish80:Exactly!! Nacho has only played a full season. He isn't getting in the first 11 over Alexis as a CF. Not possible. He isn't that good. Not just yet. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 12:03am On Sep 30, 2016 |
But Nacho Will.... That's a #FACT edi287: |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by edi287: 12:03am On Sep 30, 2016 |
TheSuperNerd:Vargas. Show me where I said Alexis was chile's MAIN striker?? I said he plays as a striker for chile and that is true. He plays as either an ss alongside Vargas or as a lone striker if necessary. Wenger signed him as a cf. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by edi287: 12:04am On Sep 30, 2016 |
TheSuperNerd:Till then...as for now, he can't. Simple as that. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 12:07am On Sep 30, 2016 |
Okay.... U wanna play "semantics"... Now answer this... Did Sanchez play as a No.9 during any of the games leading up to their Triumph at Copa centennario 2016?? Since you make it sound like he played in that position recently... edi287: |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 12:08am On Sep 30, 2016 |
But He "actually" Can... Simple as that... edi287: |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by edi287: 12:10am On Sep 30, 2016 |
TheSuperNerd:Ask pep who he would pick as a 9 between Nacho and Alexis and see if he'd say Nacho. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 12:12am On Sep 30, 2016 |
Nacho's potency stats came after a full season. Podolski's is about just "3 games"... So there's no correlation at all. Nacho deserves the spotlight even though he still has a long way to go. Nacho at 19 (20 by Oct.3rd) is already "Golden" and can be "Even better".... That's the scary part. edi287: 1 Like |

TheGoodJoe:Are you really sure you understand very well what a teenage sensation is? What was the media's hype when Xavi was in his teens? Can you draw a parallel line between Xavi /Freddie Adu? Xavi / Bojan? Xavi /Dos Santos. Xavi/Wilshere? Xavi/ Rooney? When I talk of teen sensation, I mean players who in there teens where headline huggers, player who are already poster boys between 17-22... Xavi was never in that bracket oga good Joe |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 12:15am On Sep 30, 2016 |
Well, He gave us a hint when he picked Nacho ahead of Nolito in the manchester derby for the No.9 role..... And we all know Nolito can play centrally as he did at Celta Vigo... edi287: 2 Likes |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by edi287: 12:17am On Sep 30, 2016 |
TheSuperNerd:Yes he plays there whenever Vargas isn't playing or as in a front 2 with Vargas. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 12:19am On Sep 30, 2016 |
goldfish80: So in 1999, when Xavi was the breakthrough player of the year, he did not make headlines. Just say you want to rate only attackers as teenage sensation. Xavi was a teenage sensation. Replacing an injured Guardiola is enough to tell you that he was bigger than even Giovani Dos Santos who was mostly a Sub all through his Barcelona career. Xavi replaced a legend of the club when he injured. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by goldfish80(m): 12:20am On Sep 30, 2016 |
TheSuperNerd:Looks like you missed the last few pages. I posted a chart of Chile's formation at the World Cup and the Copa. Sanchez is the undisputed no 1 striker for Chile. Vargas is merely a bench boy, however, he plays along side Sanchez up front when Sampaoli plays 3-5-2 formation. Sanchez plays up front on his own if the coach wants to go with a lone striker. 1 Like

During the Copa centennario, Vargas was Chile's No.9 thru out..... He scored 6 goals to emerge top scorer. #fact Sanchez did his thing from the wings. edi287: 1 Like |

TheSuperNerd:No we are talking about this season since we're comparing him to alexis as a 9...if we're talking last season, then Nacho isn't even fit to polish Lucas Perez feet. Nacho hasn't even done anything to be considered ahead of Giroud much less Perez of last season. This hype is almost as bad as when Rooney was called "roonaldo" or "the white pele". This is crazy. 1 Like |

Not at the Copa centennario.... Vargas "the bench boy" was the lead man in attack. He bagged six goals playing as Chile's no.9. goldfish80: |

TheSuperNerd:Nolito is not fit to lick Alexis boot much less put them in the same sentence. Nolito is a poor man's Alexis. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 12:25am On Sep 30, 2016 |
Exactly!!! Crazy... because Nacho's stats are crazy also. So just live with it!!! Nacho is worth every "hype".... Whether you buy it or not.... Especially when the "hype" is actually true and proven facts-wise. edi287: |

edi287: LWKM. Lucas Perez is 28 and he can not walk into Arsenal's starting line-up. TheSuperNerd, see me see trouble. I never looked at his age. I thought he was some Marshall, Rashford something that Wenger wanted to mould. 2 Likes |

TheGoodJoe:Xavi was a bench boy until the mid - 2000... Deco, Thiago Motta and Edmilson where the preferred players in the midfield. He made his debut subbing Guardiola does not mean he was grabbing headlines around the world. How many endorsements did he get as a teenager? Freddie Adu was already signed on to Coca-Cola and Nike at 17. Dos Santos was even thought to be a bigger talent than Messi at the Mestalia. Xavi had his two legs firmly in place when Deco departed. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 12:28am On Sep 30, 2016 |
You don't talk football like that my friend.... Nolito is Nolito. Alexis is Alexis.... Both can play from the wings as well as centrally. Pep chose Nacho over Nolito to lead the lines in the manchester derby. Meaning he can repeat same if he has an Alexis. It will be a Alexis-Nacho-Sterling upfront... Simple as that (in the absence of Aguero). Same as we had Nolito-Nacho-Sterling... edi287: 2 Likes |

goldfish80: I hope you know we are taking of Barcelona here. Not Wilshere at Arsenal. Back then, bench is levels. He was not Barcelona breakthrough player but La Liga. If you just think of it, you will agree with me he was big. Bigger than the Bojan and Dos Santos you are hailing. |
