@londoncool u remeber the candlestick we were talking about last week, querying whether it was a marubozu or not?, well i have been doing some studying and actually, its a type of marubozu, called the opening marubozu cuz it doesnt have a candlewick extending above the opening price. in cases where there is a candle wick extending from the opening price end and none from the closing price end, then it would be a closing marubozu. interesting stuff. i've been looking closely at the patterns on the NSE viz-a-viz candlestick charting and its quite revealing, its like having a code and being able to decode it because u are able to understand the language its written in. I know most fellas on here are skeptical about TA generally and candlestick charting in particular, which is why i decided to "hold my peace". i no want make person come say na "topgun candle" make am lose im life savings, i no wan die young . i will combine it with my weapons though. u never know when it will be needed. I wonder why i tend to think of investing as a sort of war? maybe cuz its me vs the market. So i need all the weapons i can get really. Happy investing |

Napolean:The going concern status of a company is a key issue for investment analysis. For cadbury their going concern status was never in doubt. They still had a great brand name and the backing of the parent coy. The only people that lost in that transaction were those that exited immediately. But who knows some of them may have bought the stock very cheaply and may have made a profit. As for UNTL since they are no longer in operation and their market is non existent the only thing that can make the bid for them reasonable is if the market value of those assets are in excess of the market capitalisation of the company. Otherwise some people are going to be left out in the cold. |

wanaj0:If the PP thing had followed the proper proceedure then his broker would not have even collected money from him in the first instance. They would have confirmed from the issuing house if there were still shares available that they could place with Crazy T. He has unwittingly made them an interest free loan for the period his money was with them. |

TeeHay:Very apt advice. Most people dont know FO2 risk profile or even follow his investment strategy properly. If you dont get in at the same price with him then the risk of the stock cant be the same for both of you. Shine ya eyes TeeHay:I no fit comment on this one oh. Transcorp for me na no go area. Nothing for them at all. I go prefer to Gamle in Gamble out for kalo kalo than to do that one. |

aktopgun: @aKTOPGUN, NO HOLD YOUR PEACE O!. I ENJOY YOUR TA. INFACT I DEY USE AN CLOSELY WITH SOME OTHERS. NIGERIAN SECURITIES NA MY PAL. I AM ACTUALLY GETTING TO UNDERSTAND THEM BETTER THANKS TO YOU. IF YOU NO WAN POST TO THE FORUM, MY EMAIL ADDRESS NA DEBENZD@YAHOO.COM. I THINK IT IS IMPORTANT TO LOOK AT ALL THINGS FROM DIFFERENT VIEWS. IF IT IS FUNDAMENTALLY RIGHT, 85% OF THE TIME, ALL VIEWS ARE THE SAME OR CLOSE TO EACH OTHER. IT IS THE SAME WAY I WILL ENCOURAGE F0F2 TO KEEP SENDING HIS COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS BECAUSE A BROKER ONCE TOLD ME NEVER TO DISCOUNT THE HISTORY OF NSE. IT PALYS A HUGE FACTOR IN HOW THE FUTURE WILL BE ESPECIALLY FOR FUNDAMENTAL STOCKS. SO KEEP IT COMING BRO AND GURUS! |

Transcorp! Transcorp! Transcorp! NAPOLEAAAAAAAAAAN,WanajoWhere are you please. Hope u got something for your people?we expect you to have better insight than us.Kindly give your take before people start selling the hen that will lay the golden egg. For me,the upsurge in price in the last few weeks is not just ordinary. Most people thot it was just about the bull run(which Loma says make investors look like a financial genius) of two weeks agobut it has defied that. For me i have learnt not to panic in this NSE.Its a crazy place.Who are the people buying the stock for the past few weeks when the reversal of Mtel sale was imminent? Some people knew what we now know? Why the sudden resignations and board wranglings? Everything looks hazy for now but the koko of the matter is that if Transcorp refuses to bleed heavily today and tommorow,i will hold on to the little i have and if possible plunge in the more. Its crazy but my gut feeling is telling me it wont turn out bad. I hope i wont need aktopgun and Blueband.I wont. |

damoche07: Don't have any insider information on transcorp. Somethings are however very clear. From the prospectus for the IPO, it was a no no. The shareholding does not add up. Many people did not pay for the shares. Check out Nicholas Okoye's own Those that were said to have 100m units did not. Divestment was going on as against the initial agreement. Check out the holdings of Festus and Ndidi. Less than 100m units. What happened? Again, the IPO was rushed just to edge against the political risk. It was really uncalled for as at that time. Will advice people to stay away from Transcorp for now. For those who bought @ <3.00, sell and take profit NOW!!!. For others watch developments for another few days. You've experienced worse things! |
Re: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by wanaj0: 10:07am On Feb 18, 2008 |
WASKY-WAJA: Not sure our investment objectives are the same. On that list, the onely one attractive to me is Diamond and maybe FCMB. SCOA for me is a bit late. Not sure I am impressed with the fundamentals also. Linkage, will avoid insurance stocks. Union Homes, never liked them. Neimeth, will prefer May and Baker (long haul). Fidelity and Bank PHB, the PO's were better. |

@All, Got this from ZSL. The fear of TS is the beginning of NSE wisdom; well that's not totally true, depends on your investment (or CICO) style. the Nigerian Stock Exchange has today added 6.25 billion shares to the shares outstanding in favour of IBTC-Chartered Plc following their merger with Stanbic Bank Nigeria Plc. The Nigerian Stock Exchange has today placed Crusader Insurance Plc. on technical suspension following the receipt of their application for Offer of Subcription, Rights Issue and Debenture Stock. The share price of Vitafoam Nigeria Plc. has today been adjusted for a dividend payment of N0.25k per share. The ex-div price is N10.05. |

Re: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by blueband(m): 11:04am On Feb 18, 2008 |
If Transcorp was not placed on TS it would have reached 20 naira and obviously that would have justified SECs position that dirty deals are going on on the NSE.SEC needs to be on top of their game or else sooner than later we no get any NSE again. Can you imagine Madam Onyuike saying SEC should have contacted them first,re-AFROIL,AP et al.A man goes to steal money and when police catch am,the thief papa dey vex say why police no contact am before going public. I tire. |
