NOT fewer than 2000 beggars and destitute were sent back yesterday by the Kaduna State government to their respective states from the Rehabilitation and Destitute Centre.

Besides, the exercise which began at about 5 a.m. was carried out by the Joint Task Force Committee for the Relocation of Destitute, constituted by the state government with the Commissioner of Women Affairs, Mrs. Marayam Laka Madami, as chairman. The repatriation, which was conducted with two trucks of mobile policemen, saw the entire Kano Road area where the Centre is situated condoned off by the armed security men.

Some of the destitute were to Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, Kano, Jigawa states.

Lamenting on the exercise, some of the destitute who claimed to be indigenes of Kaduna State, said that they have been living in Kano Road Mosque for the past 30 years before they were provided with the Centre eight years ago after the Mosque was burnt during the last crisis in the state.

One of the destitute, Malam Hassan Shafy, told journalists that "the government should have for Allah's sake allow us to stay here. We live here without any problem. People bring alms to us here."

Besides, a cripple who also claimed to be an indigene of the state, Mustapha Abubakar, said they participated in the campaign for the Governor, Alhaji Mohammed Namadi Sambo in 2007.

@Kobojunkie, I understand where the nation is going with this repatraition. Firstly it was Lagos, then FCT and now Kaduna. I don't where it is written in the constitution that a Nigerian citizen can be reptraited. Pathetic!

That means Sjeezy8 can facilitate the deportation of igbos from Lagos. Auwal can also facilitate the deportation of Yorubas and igbos from Abuja.

I dont think they can deport the igbos in the main cities in nigeria else some states might just fold up.

Imagine a country were citizens can be deported from state to state.

It is please. Doesn't it worry you that Kaduna which is a non hausa state is doing this to hausas?. This is Nigeria. May be they are deporting kano indigenes because the sniff gutter ,abi?. What is the rationale behind deporting almajiris that grew up in he state. Some of them were even born there.

Why don't you worry about ur own state in Igbo land if u are Igbo coz I'm sure there are issues there to tackle.Wetin concern u with Kaduna? Are u Kataf, or any indigenous person of that state?
