Shma:Let's feed our eyes and brains a little shall we.... You can find articles dating as far back as 2013 speculating as to whether Lagos will set to play a central role in an African technology movement, or declaring the city Africa’s Silicon Valley. Lagos already has the largest tech hub ecosystem in Africa, according to a report released by GSMA in March 2018, while coworking spaces are popping up to cater for the new breed of digital nomads making the city their home. 1 Like |

Lasgidi babaaay! Lagos’ growing importance on the tech scene has been reflected in interest from the world’s biggest tech companies. The city is Facebook’s biggest market in Africa and in 2018, Facebook launched its first African hub in Lagos. The physical space, which was built in partnership with CcHub, aims to bring together those working on emerging technology in the city to collaborate, learn and exchange ideas. In 2017, Google also established its first Launchpad space outside of the US in the city and started to run regular problem-solving boot camps for early-stage startups working in fields including emerging tech. 1 Like |

Lagos has a Silicon Valley type district. What does the whole Kenya have? These startups are also catered for by Lagos Startup Week, which began in 2015. The event has grown rapidly, expanding to 12 tracks in 2018 and welcoming more than 5000 attendees. Following the Blueprint Just as in London’s Silicon Roundabout or Berlin’s Silicon Allee — let’s face it, every major tech city has an equivalent — Nigeria’s tech scene congregate in its Yabacon Valley (or Silicon Lagoon, depending on your preference). The area is thriving, home to hundreds of banking institutions and tech startups. 1 Like |

Did I remind you Lagos isn't kenya's mate? ... No hard feelings... Pure facts The proliferation of these startups has led to an influx of venture capitalists, angel investors, those looking to work in technology and, of course, media attention. The bulk of the investment is currently coming from a mixture of local firms and international non-profit impact funds. One local investment fund is the Lagos Angel Network, founded by local investor Tomi Davies, while the international investment comes from funds like Accion Venture Lab, a US-based non-profit investment vehicle which has projects ongoing in four continents. An extensive list of the various hubs, investment sources and incubators can be found here. 3 Likes |

Now I'm VERY conversant with the tech industry in Africa in general and I can tell you for free... Don't joke with Lagos... It will end in tears... Nairo-->What?! .....take a back seat already. The area has benefitted from its overwhelmingly online population and the country’s growing technology-savvy middle class. In fact, Lagos is even suffering from some of the same problems faced by the likes of London and New York, including the fact that prices are climbing. This doesn’t seem to have dampened much of the hype, though. 1 Like |

Inspite of all the woes... Standing tall!... Tell me which country can even crawl in these conditions. HINT: you'll search forever All of this progress is happening against a backdrop of shaky internet connections, unstable power supplies and a fluctuating currency. Hope you understand now that a tech city isn't about buildings and 5 likes (LMAO!.... He actually posted buildings in a tech discourse ☠️ ) Peace ✌ 2 Likes |

vaxx2:I love Ghana. You guys are honest. We live in society that needs quality people with strong and true ideals like you guys, I had a Ghanaian friend of mine who was a medical practitioner in Kenya from Vanderbilt university. The guy was honest about everything he was talking . The only Negative part he talked about Ghana is the rate of corruption, and he specifically mentioned politicians. He also mentioned something to do with currency and he was really praising our currency at the same time debunking it(on a good note though) since it reached a time you guys were using dollars instead of cedies.I also heard your food are so spicy I will arrange a tour to your country one day . |

Carmit:A Tec hub is an organization currently active with physical local address, offering facilities and support for tech and digital entrepreneurs. Lagos takes the crown in Africa, am not refuting the facts. So, how are those building you initially posted got to do with tech hub.? To my point of view you were trying to show how modernized that yellow building was. And I returned the favour on the same. 1 Like |

In Africa - Nigeria(Lagos), South Africa(Joburg & Capetown)and Kenya(Nairobi)—the continent’s most advanced and valuable tech ecosystems—continue to dominate as the continent’s leading investment destinations while the hot streak of fintech companies across the continent will likely be reflected. I think apart from few years Jumia has gotten huge fundings - Kenya has beaten Nigeria in funding of the start ups. Carmit: 1 Like |

tylann: Stop ranting, you are too slow....I do recall when I said we all(Africans) should not be too hard on themselves...My point was if turkey could have such places like seen in eastland(if not worse) and other part of Kenya and Nigeria I see no reason we should fault eachother over few places that lacks trees.....I know my comparism always annoys you but then you have to deal with it cause I learnt it from you always remember that boy. 2 Likes |
