Scientists from five UK universities have designed a new therapy that can cure HIV.
This is one of the first serious attempts at a full cure for HIV.
The therapy works in two ways.
First, a vaccine helps the body to identify the hiv-infected cells and wipe them out
Two, the new drug activates the dormant T-cells so that they can be spotted by the immune system.
As at now, the virus is completely undetectable in the first man to be tested with the new therapy. Trials continues and the full result will be published in 2018.
The Universities involved in this research includes The University of Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College London, University College London and Kings College London.
From current statistics; 100,000 people are infected with HIV in the UK while 37 Million people are infected with HIV worldwide.
