All appears not to be well between President Muhammadu Buhari and Olusegun Obasanjo. This is coming after the president made a statement while speaking to supporters at the Abuja Villa.

He said, “You know the rail was killed and one of the former heads of state was bragging that he spent more than 15 billion American dollars on power. Where is the power?”

This recent statement is seen by some quarters as an attack on Obasanjo who has been a major critic of Buhari’s administration.

However, digging through archives, we found out that Buhari was full of praises for Obasanjo’s nature of criticizing incumbent governments. This he did few days to the general election which saw him emerge president of Nigeria in 2015

Speaking few days to the occasion of Obasanjo’s birthday, Buhari acknowledged that, although Obasanjo is widely perceived as controversial, he said such perception should not overshadow his patriotism and remarkable courage to speak up when things go wrong in the county.

“Obasanjo is a true statesman and nationalist who doesn’t abandon his country when it needs his voice to jolt the conscience of leaders to listen to those they govern,” Buhari said.
