angry This just shows how short-sighted these leaders are. These idiots think they can continue to fool people with statements such as "there is no money to run the power sector" !!! Was the power sector ever a charity giving the average Nigerian household electricity free of charge?? Ancient traders in modern civilisation!! Isn't this an investment to be paid back over time??

Likewise what do these idiots mean by "Investment on a yearly basis" - is this a rolling 365 day investment to be agreed daily or what? How did they arrive at such a figure?

1) Who does not understand that investment has to be momentarily fixed especially for fix asset goods used for electricity provision?
2) Who does not understand that a Return on investment (ROI) on services issued to 150 million people (or more) will return figures relatively far more than what is invested (within 2 -4 years) if such service is adequately deployed in the first place?
3) Who doesn’t understand a payback period needs to exist with major investment of this magnitude with initial losses which will momentarily peak?
4) Who does not understand provision of this will increase the inbound manufacturing industry at a geometric rate and increase GDP on both residential investment and Non-residential Net investment as against importations from China, US and Dubai where importation tax is never accounted for?
5) Who does not understand Cash flow books will have to appropriately logged per transaction against these  politicians for accountability blocking most of their looting avenues?

Even if it is $100 million to be invested it will surely pay for itself (with interest) over time if implemented and deployed properly using the right people, thieving politicians!!! Has Fashola or Duke used any government investments to better the lives of people in their states? Are they continually adding government money to maintain it. These fools have absolutely no clue and might as well privatise the whole bloody Nigerian electricity sector to able competitors, We've already seen it first-hand with NITEL. Really SAD cry .

Humm! Nigera has always been an interesting state to read about.

A state that has achieved merely 2% in the last 50yrs of Independence, considering all the resources available at her disposal, could budget 10Billion Naira for an anniversary that will put food on the table of poor ones, but CAN'T raise $6Billion annually to solve energy problem that has been the BIGGEST bane of her development.

Yet, the so-called House of Mis-representative (Reps) are fighting for increament of their quaterly allowance to over 42Million Naira.

Let Mr. Good-Bad Luck solve energy problem within the little tym he will stay in power.

Questions To All That Are Concerned:

1. Nigerians demand that you publish in more 4 national dailies, your Power Project Estate of the $6Billion/Annum you arrived, in due time.
2. Nigerians demand that you should publish your Power Project Execution Plan that details electricity distribution a the smallest armlet in this great nation.
3. Nigerians demand that you publish detail names of management team of these project cost estimate.
4. Nigerians demand that you should publish Charge Out Rate/Consumption Rate that will reflect a cost-drop of our per capital income.

We await your responses.

It is sick, when you heard he appoint prof nnaji to be adviser on power. That is pure nonsense. Prof nnaji does not know anything about power. I even know more than prof Nnaji. The bible says we should not boost. I know more than prof Nnaji.

This man read mechanical engineering and have never had a real job in his life. apart from teaching. How do you expect him , a mechanical engineering teacher to solve an electrical engineering problem. He is square hole in round peg.

Quote me, I Adesegun can solve the problem that has taken PDP 12 years to solve. I mean what have taken the PDP 12 years to solve. I Adesegun can solve it. if white people were paying dollar to solve thier problem. Then you would know I can solve it.

What is your point really? That a mechanical engineer cannot be appointed a power adviser to the president? If you want it by book, over 60% of power system is composed of mechanical parts. From generation, to transmission and even the distribution. Have you physically seen a power plant before? A gas power plant has most of its parts mechanical, A hydro the same (some civil though). The choice of prof Nnaji is the fair enough, Check his cv b4 you conclude.

In the real sense of it, all our leaders have failed in the Power sector and we only need the right peg in the in the right hole. Can't we pray for good leaders?
If Ghana can celebrate years of uninterrupted power supply i think South Africa also has stable power supply, Nigeria claiming to be giant of Africa does celebrate years of 'power holding' what are we talking about. May God deliver us. Nigeria is endowed with knowledgeable people but not allow in the corridor of power, may God help the country.

If privatization will work let us go ahead Nigeria must move forward

At the end of the day Nigeria is just a bog ball of corruption. It needs to be privatized at the end of the day but you know your country. They will sell the contract to an unqualified fool who will take the money and not produce results and the cycle continues. I think the common man is ready for change but those in power don't want change. Sometimes I just shake my head and move on.

Nigeria is too big for a black man to manage, so divide the country to a manageable size.

Excuse me?

What a racist and ignorant comment by someone that's supposedly educated.

You need to rid yourself of your wretched inferiority complex, assuming you're actually a black person (have my doubts).

What are you talking about?
According to this thread, Johnathan fixed power sector a long time ago

Extract from the April 19, 2010 post by Jakumo

"Much has been said about the DRAMATIC improvement in the supply of grid electrical power to Nigeria over the past few months, but a new thread is still in order, since Jonathan Goodluck has slayed a monster that NO OTHER Nigerian head of state DARED tackle at any time over the past 30 years.

It began virtually the instant President Goodluck took over from the long dead and entirely worthless Ex-President Yar Adua, with lights and electrical appliances flickering to life all over Nigeria for the first time in the living memory of any person less than 30 years old, and now, there flows near 24-hour stable electrical power over vast, long forgotten swathes of a land formerly condemned to permanent darkness, "

Ha ha ha ha  grin grin grin grin grin GEJ said his government will privatise the power sector , ASAP, so States can generate and distribute their own power. We were then told Nigeria has no money to fix power sector. To that effect, spending and contract issuance was suspended . Ostensibly to allow a robust package (legislative and regulatory ) that will see the Private sector funding the power sector fully and totally so that Government (State and Federal) can plough limited funds into other sectors (education, transport , health etc).

Now with elections approaching the Government has done a total U-turn on itself by going back into the power sector, needlessly , with the Nations funds when the private sector has not even , minimally , been considered in a PPP arrangement that would greatly reduce the contribution from the FG !!!!!! Madness !!!!!!! I make bold to say the private sector is not involved because , along with the desperation of GEJ and his buddies, the need to embezzle funds is urgent hence this senseless and brazen policy U-turn.  If you defy obvious logic by preferring to spend the nations money without wishing to approach keen investors , in a market about to go fully deregulated according to GEJ , then something stinks to high heaven here. GEJ and co are not seeking private funding because, like the OBJ NIPP scam, they have no plans of being transparent or accountable. I hope Jonathan's insincerity that I exposed (on page one) as far back as June last year is now very clear to his apologist and the undecided Nigerians thinking this clueless and profligate chap somehow holds the solutions to our problems.

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) Wednesday reversed itself on the suspension of contract awards and ratified power contracts valued at $440.3 million or N66.045 billion.

Speaking to newsmen after the FEC meeting, Minister of State for Power, Mr. Nuhu Wya, said with FEC’s approval of the contracts, work could begin in earnest on the affected projects, after they had suffered several postponements.

He said part of the projects approved included the commencement of work on the Mambilla Dam Power Project expected to deliver power in 2018.

[/b]According to him, FEC reversed itself on the contract awards and ratified the Mambilla project because of the Federal Government’s desire  to boost power supply and cover the variation in the contracts of independent power plants and stabilise power generation and supply.[/b]

The contracts approved by the council, he said, were at the request of Independent Power Projects (NIPP) Board of Directors for the 225 megawatts Gbarain Power Plant, which was awarded to Rockson Engineering.

The job awarded for $220,101,976.79 is for the addition of four more turbine units. The contract for the addition of three more generating units for Egbema will increase generation from 338 megawatts to 675 megawatts. It was awarded to Rockson Engineering for $183,021,115.37.

The initial design and preliminary jobs for the 2,600 megawatts and $4 billion Mambilla Power Plant, which was awarded to Messrs Coyne et Bellier (in association with Wadsco and Crown) has an 87-month completion period.
