Phyno may have just de-repped himself. He may become less attractive to brands by this "tribal" response. How could he not manage his emotions and let out that "tribal" thing in a sentiment-driven country like naija? He needs to urgently manage this situatìn else it bites him in future.

The man is somehow correct, although the way he stated it was too harsh. Artistes that trended for their music this year include Duncan Mighty, Tiwa, Davido, Burna boy, Tuface, Whizkid and one or two other acts. Phyno was nowhere in the picture. I understand that sometimes artistes may take time off to regenerate and come back with a bang. Maybe that's what Phyno is doing.

1- nairaland has been a battleground for tribal wars especially between igbos and Yoruba this has nothing to do with the artist you mentioned. Any mention of tribe ignites the war

2- A lot of Yoruba seem to side with the guy just for the purpose of trolling igbos

3- Phyno had many good songs that would make a big hit any day but because he didn't bring it to the Lagos. He was ignored and now is being criticised for not making a hit song.

So my question is this if it is the fans that decide which song is a hit song his fans have decided it is so why are they still trying to troll him

I don't follow crowd sheepishly phyno is among the few musicians who sing meaningful that song that u can connect the lyrics and see the meaning unlike others who jump form one thing to another in there lyrics.

The only problem pushing phyno aside is tribalism.

Some of you guys especially the ones from the East are sometimes very stupid, what the Journalist said was true. Yes, Phyno is an indigenous rapper but he had a disappointing year. It's not all about understanding Igbo or not. Many people that are not Igbo didn't understand his Lyrics in FadaFada but they danced to it. Even Olamide had a disappointing year, So what's the fuzz about. For your music to come out has a hit, it has to be loved by Lagosians. Once it doesn't resonnate with Lagosians you can't call it a hit because Lagos is the Entertainment capital of Nigeria. It easier for artistes that are Yoruba to have a hit than their Igbo counterparts because Lagos has that Yoruba influence.

Phyno had to feature Olamide to win over the Lagos fans. That was only the reason Fada fada trended in Lagos. Had Phyno not featured Olamide, the Yorubatic Lagos fans would not have related to Fada fada, but the song would have still been dope, a banger and we'll accepted within the East and beyond Nigeria.

A music doesn't have to resonate with Lagos fans to be considered a hit! The world didn't start and end in your Lagos.
Lagos culture is a Yoruba one, phyno in contrast had taken it upon himself to not leave his Igbo culture to appeal to Yoruba Lagos culture, instead he had stuck to his Igbo culture and tried to win over Lagos by regularly featuring Olamide from time to time.
Phyno had a very good year.

Fuwa Sewa is a hit
Iwa is a hit
NWA is a hit.
