THE RENEWAL PROCESS
TEXT: ISAIAH 40:28-31

"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint" (Isaiah 40:31).

The eagle is a bird that is known for its strength. It can live up to between 60 - 70 years. When the eagle is around the age of 30, it becomes weak because of worn out feathers, blunt beak and claws. To live for another 30-40 years, the eagle would retire into the rocks for months for what is known as "the renewal process." During this process, it would strike its beak against the rock until the old one falls off. Then it uses the new beak to remove the old claws and picks off all old feathers. It then waits patiently until new feathers grow. After this renewal process the eagle comes out in strength and flies dynamically and royally again. Any eagle that fails to go through this process dies early from hunger and lack.

Just like the eagle, every child of God should regularly take time out alone with God. Personal daily Bible reading and prayer is one such renewal process. Avoid sin, prayerlessness, talkativeness, lukewarmness, laziness and other habits that can reduce your spiritual strength. Always make out time to renew your strength before the Lord.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, please renew my spiritual strength.

THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
TEXT: ACTS 1:4-8

"But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you; and ye shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth" (Acts 1:8).

We all need power to do our works, run errands, and help around the home. Jesus Christ saved many sinners, healed the sick, raised the dead, and did many other wonderful things through the power of the Holy Spirit. He promised to send to His friends the power to do great wonders too. It is the power of the Holy Spirit. The promise is also unto children today. The well-known evangelist called Reinhard Bonnke was said to have surrendered his life to Christ at the age of nine. He was filled with the Holy Spirit at the age of eleven.

Many people were saved from sin as he preached the good news of Jesus Christ. The blind, the lame, the sick, the deaf, the dumb and people troubled by Satan were healed and set free as he prayed. You are not too young to be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. He will help you do wonderful works as Jesus did. He will come into you as you trust in God to make your heart pure and ask Him to fill you with the Holy Spirit now. Pray to God and He will answer.

PRAYER: God, fill me with the Holy Spirit to enable me preach the gospel with boldness, signs and wonders.

JESUS, THE GREATEST DOCTOR
TEXT: MARK 5:25-34

"And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace and be whole of thy plague" (Mark 5:34).

Jesus is the greatest doctor. He heals all types of sickness without medication, injection, surgery or any medical processes. There was a Chinese boy called Liu Zhenying. His father had a sickness which developed into cancer. There was no cure for cancer; so the doctor sent him home to die. Prayers of their idols' priest could not also save or heal him. The family spent all their money, possessions and energy on trying to get him healed, but the situation only grew more hopeless. One night his mother heard a very clear, tender and compassionate voice saying: "Jesus loves you."

Immediately, she knelt down weeping. She repented of her sins and trusted in Jesus for forgiveness and a new heart. She told her family about this and gathered them to pray to Jesus for their father. They laid their hands on Liu's father and cried out a simple prayer, "Jesus, heal Father!" "Jesus, heal Father!" The next day Liu's father began to improve. Within one week he was fully healed of the cancer. This led to the whole family committing their lives to Jesus Christ. Jesus will heal you too. Have faith in Him. You can also pray for people who are sick in His name, and they will get well.

PRAYER: Father, heal me of any sicknesses in my body in Jesus' name.

JESUS, THE LOVING FRIEND
TEXT: JOHN 15:12-15

"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends" (John 15:13).

We all need friends. Most times, friends are not able to remain together for as long as they want to be. Change of environment, distance, misunderstanding, war, and some other changes in life's situation may cause this. Jesus speaks of Himself as a Friend who loves us. Just as the following song says, you are precious in His sight:

Jesus loves the little children,
All the children of the world,
Red and yellow, black and white,
They are precious in His sight,
Jesus loves the little children of the world.

He is the Lover of every soul. He is merciful and compassionate. His love made Him to lay down His life for us. If you believe in Him and you repent now, forsake all your sins and surrender your life to Him, He will save you. He ever loves and cares for His own. With Jesus living in your heart by faith you will never be lonely again. Then live the life of Christ anywhere you are, and you will enjoy the benefit of His love.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, help me to love You and do what pleases You.

REJOICE EVERMORE
TEXT: PHILIPPIANS 4:4-8

"Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice" (Philippians 4:4).

People need to be happy and joyful always. But sometimes things happen that cause sadness and sorrow. However, the Lord seems to command us to "Rejoice in the Lord alway...." That means it is our duty to rejoice. It shows that we can rejoice even when we suffer for Him or when things are not going well. To remain joyful, always turn your troubles to the Lord in prayer, and leave them there. There is enough with God to furnish us with joy always; even in the worst circumstances of life. It is a good thing to rejoice always in the Lord. Temptations may come but still rejoice. God will not stand back and watch evil overcome His children.

Joy in the Lord brings great results. The Holy Spirit will keep you and fill your heart with gladness. Satan cannot defeat even the weakest saint that he meets with a praiseful shout. Always remember, Satan is afraid of our singing more than our sighing. This is the reason the song writer counsels that we should:

Trust in the Lord,
Trust in the Lord,
Sing when your trials are greatest;
Trust in the Lord and take heart.

PRAYER: Lord, teach me to trust in You and to rejoice evermore.

UNDERSTANDING THE LORD'S WILL
TEXT: EPHESIANS 5:13-17

"Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is" (Ephesians 5:17).

A sheep and a dog are different by nature. But an African proverb says, "A sheep that walks with dogs will eat excreta." The Christian child must avoid any friendship that may make him or her to commit sin. We must understand the will of God for us. Do His will in all things. It is the will of God that you should be saved from sin. This is the beginning of your relationship with God and doing His will. After this, it is the will of God for you to be:

- Sanctified or made completely pure in heart.

- Baptized with the Holy Ghost for you to receive power to work for God.

- Preach the good news of Christ's love to sinners.

- Prosper in all areas of your life, spiritual, academic, family.

- In good health and enjoy peace.

- Successful and become ten times better than your peers.

- Raptured, and live with Jesus forever in heaven.

Make up your mind to always do the will of the Lord. Ask the Lord to lead and guide you to know and do His will always.

PRAYER: LORD, help me to understand and to walk in YOUR perfect will for my life.

STAND ON YOUR GOD-GIVEN DREAM
TEXT: GENESIS 37:5-11

"And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more" (Genesis 37:5).

Joseph was a real dreamer. God gave him a dream and though he went through a lot, he never gave up on his dream. God made it a reality as Joseph was faithful to God. God has a dream for you too. You are born to succeed and be great in life. Discover His dream for you, run with it, no matter the difficulties, you must persevere.

Joseph went through years of hardship and suffering in the hands of others. His brothers tried to stop his dream from coming true because of envy, but they only succeeded in helping to make it come to reality. Potiphar's wife's suggestion to sin, the consequent trouble and imprisonment could not stop Joseph's dream. Through it all, he was moved from prison to the palace. Joseph played an important role in the saving of many lives through those long years of famine in Egypt. God did not forget him nor forsake the dream He gave to him.

Hold on to your dream, it may take a long time, it will eventually come to pass. Delay is not denial! No one can stop the plan of God for your life. Surrender the control of your life to God, live a holy life and your dreams will become a reality.

PRAYER: LORD, help me to stand on my God-given dream and to wait patiently for its fulfilment.

THE BELIEVER'S RACE
TEXT: 1 CORINTHIANS 9:23-27

"Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain" (1 Corinthians 9:24).

Our Christian life and journey to heaven is likened to a race. We need to run with 'patience and endurance.' It's not a sprint, but more of a marathon race. Along the way we should encourage each other, for so often we may feel like giving up, but we need to keep pressing on. We need to get rid of anything that will weigh us down. No athlete wears heavy clothing and weights while running in a race. Likewise, in the spiritual, we need to be dressed appropriately for the race and throw off the things that would hold us back and weigh us down, so that we may be able to finish well.

We need to know and keep to the following truths as we run the race: (i) Recognize that the race is a heavenly race, therefore, grace is needed to run in the race. (ii) Much discipline, self-control and separation from worldly friends and amusement is required. (iii) Endure persecution and patiently run the race. (iv) Be focused and never look back. (v) There is a prize, that is a reward for all who will run to the end and finish well.

Have you joined in the race? Give your life to Jesus and join in the believer's race.

PRAYER: LORD, give me the grace to run the race till the end.

THE WISE AND THE FOOLISH VIRGINS
TEXT: MATTHEW 25:1-13

"Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of Man cometh" (Matthew 25:13).

The parable of the ten virgins has some important lessons for friends of Jesus. The virgins were expecting the bridegroom. Five of them were wise and the other five were foolish.

The virgins represent Christians. The bridegroom represents Jesus Christ. The wise virgins took extra oil for their lamp. They are Christians that ask God for more grace always. The foolish virgins did not take extra oil. They are the over confident Christians who think their spiritual status is just fine.

The oil represents true faith, righteousness, persecution and watchfulness. Later, the oil of the virgins finished. The wise virgins used their extra oil. The foolish virgins became helpless. They asked the wise for oil, but it was too late. They went to search for oil. By the time they came back, the door ride had taken in the wise virgins was locked. The bridegroom had taken in the wise virgins and shut the door.

Therefore, you must watch and pray and be not careless if you want to see Jesus at last.
Daily ask for grace, obey His commands, watch and pray everyday. Be a wise Christian and not a foolish one?

PRAYER: Dear God, give me the grace to a watch and pray.

OBEDIENCE IS BETTER THAN SACRIFICE
TEXT: 1 SAMUEL 3:1-4

"That the Lord called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I" (1 Samuel 3:4).

Samuel was a special child because his mother waited on God for a long time to have him. Yet he was not pampered but rather trained to love the Lord. On his part, Samuel did not refuse or reject his mother's decision to 'lend' him to the Lord. He was submissive and obedient. The Lord honoured the obedience of Samuel by speaking to him directly. He heard the voice of God, just like Moses did. Samuel became a priest, prophet and judge in Israel. There are great blessings in obeying the word of God.

Obedience is the key to God's storehouse of blessings. What does it take to obey? It takes doing exactly what the Lord commands, doing it happily and walking in the light with the right attitude. Make up your mind to obey God's word from now on. You should also obey your parents, school authority, government and those who are taking care of you. Remember, obedience brings blessing. It is the very best way to show that you believe.

PRAYER: Oh Lord, make me an obedient child.
