We Obeyed
TEXT: Jeremiah 35:6-10

"Thus have we obeyed the voice of Jonadab the son of Rechab our father in all that he hath charged us" (Jeremiah 35:8a).

It was a thing of joy and pride to the children of Rechab that they obeyed their father. They made it known to all that they had obeyed their father. God, our heavenly Father, referred to their godly behaviour, and challenged others to follow their example.

The children of Rechab have given us a godly example to follow. They have also proven to us that it is possible to obey God even in times of very serious temptation. Their behaviour made God happy, and He blessed them. As friends of Jesus, we should be happy to do as the Saviour commands. God is our Father; He has commanded us to serve Him in truth and righteousness. If you make up your mind to always obey Him, He will bless you here on earth and you will live in heaven with Jesus at last. Will you obey your Saviour's command?

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, give me the heart to obey You always.

Be Free From Guile
TEXT: John 1:47-50

"Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!" (John 1:47).

The dictionary also uses the following words for guile: crafty, cunning, dodgy, foxy, sly and tricky. It means to deceive, disguise or conceal. The world is filled with deceit, truthful and sincere people are hard to come by. This is commonly seen in most children.

Jesus was pleased to see a man whose life was free from deceit. He was very pleased with him and commended him. No one can hide from Jesus.

If Jesus should look into your heart today, what will He see? Can Jesus look at you and declare you free from deceit and wickedness? If Nathaniel was free of guile, then you too can be free from all guile. The Lord wants you to be free from deceit. He has the power to take this bad behaviour away from your heart if you pray to Him. This will make you trustworthy and you will be useful in the service of your Master, Jesus.

PRAYER: Cleanse my heart Lord and fill me with the right Spirit.

Debtor Of Love
TEXT: Romans 1:14-16

"I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise" (Romans 1:14).

Gladys had never seen her parents. She was told that they travelled to an unknown place a few days after her birth. She grew up under the care of Mrs. Anderson, who made sure that Gladys had the best upbringing. But Mrs. Anderson died immediately Gladys graduated from college and got a job, living five children behind. Gladys, without being told, soon realised the great debt she owed these children.

A debtor, according to Merriam Webster Dictionary, is a person, organisation and government that owes money. But the greatest debt we owe is the debt of love. Paul the apostle considered himself a debtor to all the Gentiles. And what he owed them was love and compassion to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to them.

This is the debt we all owe the men, women, boys and girls around us. Make sure you pay your debt faithfully. At home, school and in the neighbourhood, make sure you preach the love of Jesus to others. And Jesus will be happy with you.

PRAYER: Lord, fill my heart with compassion for sinners around me.

The Name Of Jesus
TEXT: Philippians 2:5-10

"That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth" (Philippians 2:10).

What is in a name? Some people may ask. The Bible says, "A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches..." (Proverbs 22:1a). It is not the name, but the person who bears it that matters.

Some people can go to any length to protect their names from being defamed because they know that their names are a direct reference to them. Men's names are ordinary and may not be of any benefit to them.

But Jesus' name is divine and has a worldwide and an eternal influence. His name is greater than all names. It is the only Name that every knee bows to or worships. It is the only Name that is recognised by God and men.

Jesus obtained His name by conquest. On the cross, He defeated the enemies of your soul, Satan and his agents, and rose from death for your justification.

God gave Him the name for your benefit. Today, you can receive salvation, purity of heart, deliverance, healing, provision and eternal life in heaven, and a lot more blessings, through the Name of Jesus.

PRAYER: Thank You Lord, for all the blessings I have received through Your Name.

Who Is Your Friend?
TEXT: 2 Corinthians 6:14-16

"And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?" (2 Corinthians 6:15).

Daniel's father tried all he could to end the friendship between his son and Jimmy. His reasons were clear. He could not understand why his son, who claimed to be a Christian, should choose to befriend a rude, stubborn and ungodly boy. He was afraid that Daniel would not be able to resist Jimmy's ungodly influence.

It is natural for us to relate with one another. Although we all need friends, but you must be careful because the friend you keep can either help you to grow in faith or pull you down. The word of God clearly warns us not to follow evil examples of unbelievers. They want to influence you to join them in their bad ways. Keeping company with evil people brings God's displeasure upon His people.

The evil people that the Israelites entered into friendship and marriages with turned their hearts away from God. This was why God punished the children of Israel. You should make friends with believers, that is, those who have the same faith and belief in the Saviour as you. Prayerfully reject the friendship of ungodly children.

PRAYER: Lord, give me the grace and wisdom to choose friends who love You.

The Word Was God
TEXT: John 1:1-5

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God" (John 1:1).

There is a common argument among unbelievers in the world today; whether Jesus Christ is God or not. But the Bible settled that argument long ago. Human opinion does not really matter in the things of God because we are human and limited in knowledge and understanding. The ways of God are beyond us.

The verdict of the Scriptures is all that matters. The divinity of Jesus is not an issue for a debate, but that of faith. By making the Word flesh, God gave man the opportunity of seeing Him in human form. God, Who has been from eternity past, was made flesh and lived among men. What a privilege man had to have seen God in human form!

The world was created by the Word, redeemed by the Word, preserved by the Word, controlled by the Word and will be judged by the Word. It should give you joy and relief that your Saviour is God, and that you are kept by Him.

He Who created the world and keeps it by the power of His hands will preserve you from all evil and keep you until the day of His coming again. Have you believed on that Name.

PRAYER: I thank You Lord for Who You are: God of Heaven and Earth.

Left Behind!
TEXT: Matthew 24:40-44

"Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come" (Matthew 24:42).

The events of the last days are clearly written in the Bible. The rapture of the saints, that is, the taking away of God's children from the earth to meet Jesus in the air, will soon take place. While this event will bring the deepest joy to friends of Jesus, yet, it is going to be a time of great disaster in human history.

Those who rejected Jesus and have lived their lives in sin will be left behind. Those who are left behind will face a period called the Great Tribulation. That is when Satan will appear in the form of the Antichrist and will rule the world in wickedness. Imagine the joy that awaits you, this should encourage your heart. No matter the temptation and the pains you may be going through now, a moment with Christ in glory will make them seem as nothing. In heaven, your Saviour will wipe away all your tears, embrace you and receive you unto Himself. Endeavour to keep yourself pure and ready for His coming.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, I pray that I will be ready when You come.

Is Your Name Written There?
TEXT: Revelation 20:12-15

"...and another book was opened, which is the book of life..." (Revelation 20:12b).

Anna had attended the Government Primary School for two years. Unknown to her parents, her name was not included in the register for the school. This was discovered during the routine check by the school inspectors. This caused Anna to be sent out of school. Anna cried uncontrollably when she was asked to leave the school.

God has a book called THE BOOK OF LIFE. This is a book that has the names of those who are saved from sin and are qualified to live with Jesus forever in heaven. Remember, your name being in the book of life means that you have escaped the punishment in hell fire.

It is wonderful for God to have your name in His record. It shows you are a member of the family of God. Just like you being a child in your earthly family entitles you to all the provisions in the family, so are you entitled to the abundant blessings of God. However, it takes a personal decision to get your name into God's book of records and keep it there. Are you like Anna? Is your name in the book of life?

PRAYER: Lord, keep me holy so that my name will remain in Your book.

Try Love
TEXT: John 15:10-14

"This is My commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you" (John 15:12).

Mrs. Joshua had a neighbour who was very resentful towards her and her family. She did not know what she had done to her. One day, as she was thinking about the matter, the Holy Spirit impressed upon her to 'try love.' She had observed that there was need in that family: the children had no good clothes to put on and were not well fed. Mrs. Joshua went to the market the following day and bought some clothes, packaged them and gave them to one of the woman's children. She was surprised that three days later, the woman sent one of the children to thank her.

Everyone wants to be loved. It is only a fool that rejects love. Love is expressed through our actions. Love is the solution to a lot of problems. Love can soften hardened hearts. Our Lord knows that it is only love that can change a world full of bitterness. That is why He commands us to love. There is no discrimination in true love. The Lord commands us to love our enemies, bless those that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you (Matthew 5:44). You are to pray for and show love to even your unbelieving friends.

PRAYER: Lord, give me the grace to love like You.

You Are Not Forgotten
TEXT: Luke 12:6-7

"But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows" (Luke 12:7).

There is a song which we usually sing, which goes thus:

"I... will not forget thee or leave thee;
In My hands I'll hold thee,
In My hands I'll fold thee,
I... will not forget thee or leave thee;
I am thy Redeemer,
I will care for thee."

Satan makes it seem as if God has forgotten His children. Have you ever found yourself in a situation of loneliness, fear and hopelessness? You pray with your family, but it appears as if God will never answer. At such a time, you are tempted to doubt God's faithfulness and be discouraged. But the words of your Lord comes to you this moment; "Fear not therefore."

His reference to the sparrow is to teach us that, if sparrows, unimportant as they are, can receive God's attention, then, as friends of Jesus, He will do more for us. He that cares for the sparrows cares more for you. Do not be afraid, God loves you and will take care of you.
Dear friends of Jesus, worry less, be hopeful, Jesus cares much about you.

PRAYER: Lord, I cast all my cares upon You, I know You care for me.

The Truth
TEXT: John 18:36-38

"Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews" (John 18:38a).

Pilate asked for the Truth but was not ready to hear and accept the Truth. The Truth is valueless to the wicked and the ungodly. However, his ignorance did not spare him from being punished for neglecting the Truth. Like Pilate, many so-called great men of the world are walking away from the Truth today. Pilate came face to face with the Truth, but he allowed his position and fear of men to steal the opportunity to be saved from him.

Jesus Christ is the Truth. The truth about salvation and redemption through Christ is being mocked and ridiculed by men of the world. According to Paul the Apostle, "the preaching of the gospel is foolishness to them that perish." Thank God that you are willing to accept or have already accepted the Truth that can set you free from the bondage of sin and Satan, and make you ready for eternal rest in Heaven. If The Truth, the Son of God, has set you free, you are free indeed. Now, don't fail in your duty to make the Truth known to others.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, I know You are The Truth, help me to make You known to others.

Light Of The World
TEXT: Matthew 5:14-16

"Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid" (Matthew 5:14).

Light is the absence of darkness. The smallest spark cannot be hidden in darkness. Jesus does not want us to hide the light. His speech was directed to those who already have the light. Those who have the light should be a light to the world and not hide it. Hiding the light of salvation is more grievous than hiding food from a starving world. The door of heaven is open, but sinners are engulfed in thick darkness. It is only the light of the Gospel that can illuminate a world that is darkened by wickedness, hatred, suffering and ungodliness.

Born again boys and girls are called to be light in the world; they are to represent Christ and reflect His glory. Light can never be hidden, it illuminates and shines no matter how hidden it is. Absence of light makes the world dark, but absence of righteousness makes it even darker. If the sinful children around you continue in their ways, it may be because you have not led them to Christ, the LIGHT of the world. Bring them to Christ through your godly lifestyle. Jesus will help you to shine the light every day.

PRAYER: Lord, help me to shine for You, so sinners can come into the kingdom.

Holy Sacrifice
TEXT: Romans 12:1-3

"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service" (Romans 12:1).

Brethren refers to friends of Jesus. Apostle Paul is telling us to take our God-given duty seriously. The Christian life is a life devoted to the service of God. The Apostle is making a plea to the brethren to present themselves a living sacrifice to God. Our bodies are expected to be kept free from sin and only do those things that are pleasing and delightful to God.

A living sacrifice means that, though we are alive, yet our bodies are offered on the altar of services that are acceptable to God. Every child must willingly offer himself to serve God. The nature of sacrifice acceptable to God is clearly stated: (i) Living, (ii) Holy, (iii) Acceptable; that is pleasing to God. God has called you out of the world to live a holy life anywhere you find yourself. You must shun worldliness and avoid anything that defiles your body, thoughts or actions.

PRAYER: God, cleanse me from all evil and give me the grace to live a holy life.

Just Teach Me How To Pray
TEXT: Luke 11:1-4

"And He said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth" (Luke 11:2).

This was a necessary and sincere request. For, what can a Christian achieve without prayer? Even the Lord of lords and the King of kings prays. If the Master prays, why shouldn't the servants pray? Our Lord Jesus started His journey on earth with prayers and ended with prayers.
Jesus always prayed to His Father in heaven before He took any major decision. Yet, there is a general neglect of prayer among Christian children.

Though we often sing the song:

Prayer is the key,
Prayer is the key,
Prayer is the master key;
Jesus started with prayer,
And ended with prayer,
Prayer is the master key.

Do you follow the example of your Master?

We can see from our text that Jesus was quick to teach His disciples how to pray. This is to show us the importance He attaches to prayer. He knows the temptations, troubles and pains in the world, and He also knows we cannot overcome them without adequate prayers. You must learn how to pray from the way Jesus prayed in our text. There is need to prepare a timetable for prayer. God in heaven still answers prayers in Jesus' Name, no matter how big the problems or challenges may be.

PRAYER: Lord, teach me how to pray and answer me when I pray.

Eternal Life
TEXT: John 3:15-21

"That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:15).

There is a song we normally sing:

Eternal, eternal life,
Eternal, eternal life,
I want to live eternal life,
God save my soul,
I want to live eternal life,
God save my soul.

There is nothing as important as life. It is commonly said that as long as there is life, there is hope. Many, who are on their death beds, will give all their possessions for the opportunity to continue living. If our temporary and earthly life, filled with trouble and pain, can be so treasured, how much more a peaceful, joyful and endless life in Heaven. Every wise person should desire eternal life with Christ in Heaven.

God has given the privilege to live eternally to everyone. The conditions are the same for both adults and children. Eternal life is for those who have been washed and cleansed from their sins by the blood of Jesus, those who believe in the only true God and in Jesus Christ whom He sent.

No one can stop you from enjoying this glorious life with Jesus. Determine that the things of this world, Satan and his agents, will not stop you from loving Jesus and living eternal life in Heaven. The Lord will help you to overcome every temptation and anything that may hinder you from making Heaven.

PRAYER: Lord, I want to be a possessor of your inheritance.

Do Ye Now Believe?
TEXT: John 16:31

"Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?" (John 16:31).

A time comes in our lives, when we must allow our doubts, worry and unbelief, to give way to belief, rest and trust in the Saviour. The disciples had been with Jesus for about three years now. They had seen many signs and wonders, even the dead raised and lepers cleansed. Why were they just confessing their belief in CHRIST? One can only imagine what they had lost all those years by remaining in unbelief.

Many children follow their parents to Churches and other places of worship; they call often on the name of the Lord that they do not really know. The same question comes to you today. The word 'believe' signifies change or result. A believing heart produces a transformed life. Do you now believe? Believing in the Lord Jesus makes sense. It brings about freedom, joy and hope. Rejoice if you have believed on the Saviour, and put your trust in Him. His presence will guide you through life.

PRAYER: Lord, I believe in You.

Make The Difference Clear
TEXT: John 17:13-16

"They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world" (John 17:16).

Some years ago, a company named 'Seven-Up,' (a soft drink producing company), came up with a slogan: "The difference is clear," very popular all over the world.

However, how effective the difference they intended to make in the soft drink industry can only be confirmed by the teaming consumers of their brand. The world hates change. It prefers the status quo, whether it is good for it or not. But innovations are products of change.

The lifestyle of the people of the world should not be imitated. The Christian is called to make a difference, and it must be a very clear one. Fake and unbelieving believers are all over the place. They claim to be Christ's followers, yet, they are living in disobedience to His commands.

The Lord Jesus Christ makes it very clear that friends of Jesus should be different from the people of the world in the way they behave. You must maintain a clear separation from the sinners and unserious Christians in the world. You must not make any of the people of the world your friend. Obey the instruction of Jesus and you will enjoy His favour and help.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, give me the grace to separate from the ungodly behaviour of the people of the world.

Remember Me
TEXT: 1 Corinthians 11:23-28

"And when He had given thanks, He brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is My body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of Me" (1 Corinthians 11:24).

Jesus is the One that we should constantly remember for our salvation, security and safety. Is it good to forget our Saviour? No, we should not! The greatest mistake we can make is to forget God. The most terrible sins that Christians committed happened when they forgot that God is always present with them. It is only the constant consciousness of the presence of the Holy One with us that can keep us holy at all times. Our brains too, often remembers what we ought to forget and forget the LORD we ought to remember and love. There is danger in forgetting God.

Remember the Lord's agony, remember His humiliation, remember His reproach, remember His rejection, remember His sacrifice; so that you don't forget Him and be thankful to Him. There is always something to do in remembrance of the Lord wherever you go: remember to be separate from sinners, love the brethren, preach the mercy of Jesus and live a holy life.

PRAYER: Lord, please teach me to remember Your suffering.

He Stands By Me
TEXT: Acts 27:23-25

"For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve" (Acts 27:23).

The angel of God stood by Paul to support, instruct, encourage, comfort and assure him. When men on earth run heavenly errands, heaven sends heavenly messengers on errands to them. Paul could not drown while on an errand for the Master. The most secure time of your life is when you are in the will of God and on an errand for God. Nothing can hurt us on the way to deliver God's message. Until you complete God's assignment, nothing can tamper with your life.

Paul the Apostle was sure of God's protection though he and those with him were in serious danger. But the Lord assured him of His presence and protection. Though others were fearful, his heart was at peace because he knew that God is faithful and would protect him. God is willing to help you in time of trouble provided you are in His will. Do not be afraid or discouraged, your God will deliver you from all evil.

PRAYER: Lord, preserve me from all danger and keep my soul from evil.

The Spirit Bears Fruits
TEXT: Galatians 5:16-24

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law" (Galatians 5:22-23).

The Spirit of God is fruitful. He seeks those who will bear His fruit. Friends of Jesus are trees that bear the fruit of the Spirit. As natural trees are almost useless without fruits, so the fruitless friends of Jesus cannot be useful to God. We are to possess and manifest the qualities of the Spirit in us.

From our text, nine fruits were mentioned. It is the Spirit that makes us free from malice and hatred towards others. He gives us the grace to forbear and to suffer long for Christ no matter the challenges or difficulties. He also makes us gentle, meek and tender. He helps friends of Jesus to do good to others; show them love and appreciate them.

You must be fruitful. Remember, a tree produces fruits not for its benefit, but for that of others. No tree eats its fruits. The fruit of the Spirit through you is to edify, encourage and bless the people around you. The Spirit of God wants to make you a channel of blessings. Prayerfully allow the Spirit of God to bear His fruit through you wherever you go today.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, make me a fruitful vine and a blessing to all around me.

Preach The Word
TEXT: Mark 16:15-18

"And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature" (Mark 16:15).

Sarah, a student of Fountain School, an obedient girl, was well brought up by her godly parents. She was very passionate in winning souls for Christ at such a tender age. She often found time during break, to preach to her classmates. She also gave them tracts which were always in her bag. Her passion for soul winning led to the conversion of two of her classmates.

From our text, Jesus encourages us to preach the word of God to our sinful friends. Like Sarah, we are to preach the gospel to the sinful boys and girls in our schools and neighbourhoods. Spread the love of Christ all around. Every born-again boy and girl must be a soul winner for Christ. Jesus is our perfect example. He went everywhere preaching the gospel of the kingdom. He says, "I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also; for therefore am I sent." You must be involved in soul winning. Jesus loves you and you will be happy when you do the will of His Father. Preach the Word!

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, please give me the grace to preach Your word.

He Is Risen!
TEXT: Luke 24:5-7

"And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?" (Luke 24:5).

There is a song we normally sing:

"Run Peter run,
Run to the grave,
Run Peter run,
What do you see?
Jesus is alive,
The grave is empty.
He's alive,
He's alive,
The stone is rolled away,
He's alive,
He's alive,
I see the empty grave."

The women went on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, to anoint the body of Jesus with their spices. On getting to the grave, they found out that the stone had been rolled away from the sepulchre, and His body was not there. The angel told them that Jesus was risen and He was no longer in the grave.

The resurrection of Christ is true and it forms the pillar of our salvation. Our faith would have been in vain if Christ had not risen. The resurrection power of Christ is still at work today; delivering people from every captivity of sin and Satan. Jesus finished the work of our redemption on the Cross, and through His resurrection, we are justified. If Christ has therefore risen, no power can keep us in the grave. All the friends of Jesus shall rise with Jesus at His coming. The blessings of Christ's resurrection are many. Through Jesus' resurrection, you have received the power to do right, live well and have the hope of eternal life in heaven.

PRAYER: Father, help me to do right and enjoy all the blessings of Jesus' resurrection.

Sincere Tears
TEXT: Luke 22:59-62

"And Peter went out, and wept bitterly" (Luke 22:62).

People shed tears for different reasons. Although some people are not easily moved to tears, but we all shed tears at one time or the other. People shed tears in times of sorrow, pain, disappointment, shame, failure and regret. Some tears are referred to as "crocodile tears." Why is it so called? It is because the crocodile, an extremely carnivorous animal, is said to shed tears while eating its helpless victim! Many people shed false or hypocritical tears. Children shed tears a lot. However, sincere repentance will certainly bring forth sincere tears. Out of pain, regret and sorrow, Peter wept. It was the bitter tears of a woeful failure. The look of disappointment on the face of the Master, burnt Peter like fire. He could not control his tears. It pained Peter to have denied the Lord.

You may find it easy to blame Peter and consider his conduct disappointing. But, the question is, how many times have you denied Jesus? By what you do, the things you look at, what you read, and by the type of friends you keep.

The Lord forgave Peter and never mentioned his sins. If you weep in repentance and sorrow for your failure, the Lord will forgive you too.

PRAYER: Lord, I ask for forgiveness' where I have disappointed You.

Thou Blind Pharisee
TEXT: Matthew 23:26-29

"Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity" (Matthew 23:28).

Our Lord Jesus Christ referred to the Pharisees as blind. They had eyes, wide open and clear, yet they were not able to see. What an unfortunate condition that a person has eyes, but cannot see his way nor be able to lead others aright!

Are there not many who are in the condition of the Pharisees today? They have eyes, but wilfully close them against the way of salvation and righteousness. The Saviour is clearly shown to them, yet they choose to close their eyes against Him or reject Him to their destruction. You wouldn't like to be in that type of condition; with a heart hardened by unbelief and rejection of the Saviour.

Will you like to be referred to as a blind boy or girl while you can see clearly? Sometimes, you do not see some things with your eyes, but with your heart. A wicked and ungodly heart produces a "blind" heart. When your heart is washed by the blood of Jesus, free from hypocrisy and iniquity, your eyes will begin to look heavenward, and your faith in Jesus will begin to grow. Jesus alone heals spiritual blindness.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, open my eyes that I may see You in Your glory.

Decision For Blessing
TEXT: Ruth 1:16,17

"...for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God" (Ruth 1:16b).

Not all decisions bring blessings. The Bible is filled with examples of many people who missed the blessing and the favour of God through wrong decisions. We can easily remember Solomon and his son Rehoboam, Judas Iscariot and his kinsman Demas. Not only individuals, but nations too have been ruined by wrong or ungodly decisions. A story is told of one African leader who decided to go to a needless war. At the end of the battle, he lost almost the entire armed forces of the nation. He later also lost his life in regret.

Ruth herself did not realise the extent of the blessings the decision she was taking would bring. Any decision taken according to the will of God will certainly bring immediate and eternal rewards. Hers was a decision of faith. All around her was suffering, hopelessness and loneliness. But her faith in the God of Israel helped her to look away from all her difficulties.

Your young life is filled with decisions. But only decisions taken in the fear of God will bring you blessings. Your salvation, peace, progress and your eternal joy in glory, depends on your decision.

PRAYER: Spirit of the living God, guide me in every decision I take.

Ninety And Nine
TEXT: Luke 15:3-7

"And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost" (Luke 15:6).

In our text, Jesus tells us the story of the lost sheep. One sheep wandered away, remaining ninety-nine. Though the shepherd watched and cared, yet the sheep still strayed away. But the shepherd, out of compassion, went out to search for the lost one despite the fact that he had ninety-nine left. When he found it, he was very happy and went back home rejoicing that he had found his lost sheep. Jesus is the Great Shepherd. He is seeking lost sinners who have gone astray. He is pleading with them to come home. His love is tender and He is willing to accept them back into His fold again.

He paid the price for our redemption and salvation which is full and free. He seeks the lost no matter the cost. When a sinful boy or girl who went astray from God comes back to Him through repentance, there is always joy in heaven. Every friend of Jesus must reach out and help to bring back lost souls who have gone astray. You are not to condemn or look down on your sinful friends, but you should pray for them and present the message of Jesus' love to them. As you do God's will, He will bless you and grant you the grace to bring more of your friends to Him.

PRAYER: Dear God, help me to be an effective soul winner.

The Time Is Now!
TEXT: Hosea 10:11-13

"Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till He come and rain righteousness upon you" (Hosea 10:12).

Our key verse was the counsel by Prophet Hosea to Israel. The servant of God pleaded day and night, but Israel would not listen. If they had obeyed this counsel, they would have escaped the punishment of God. The children of Israel had the time to make amends but they did not. Israel later groaned in regret and shame for rejecting the way of the Lord.

Time waits for no one. The appointed time to accept Jesus is now! Seek the Lord while you are still young and your heart is still tender. This is the time of decision: decision to seek the Lord's mercy to live a life of righteousness and truth, decision to be a light to those who are living in the darkness of sin. If you sow to yourself in righteousness, you will reap the mercy of the Lord.

PRAYER: Lord, grant me the grace to live a life that is pleasing to You always.

He Is Fearful In Praises
TEXT: Exodus 15:10-13

"Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?" (Exodus 15:11).

The topic of our devotion today confirms the fact that God does fearful and wonderful things when His children praise Him. God wants us to praise Him at all times. Great things happen whenever we praise God: the blind see, the oppressed are delivered, notable miracles occur, the sick are healed as a result of God's acceptance of our praises!

In our devotion today, we are considering some verses of Moses' 'Song of Praise.' Moses loved to praise God and had great faith in Him. His life followed a beautiful order: trials - prayer - answer - praise.

Your life should be filled with praises to God. Do not wait until you receive answers to your prayers. Praise God while you are still expecting His miraculous work in your life or in the lives of others. Let your mouth and your life sing the praises of the Lord. If you have prayed and the answer is yet to come, try praising God, and the Lord will do wonders in your life.

PRAYER: Lord, please teach me to praise You at all times.

John: A Disciple Of Jesus
TEXT: Luke 9:28-32

"And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, He took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray" (Luke 9:28).

John, the second son of Zebedee, was referred to as "the disciple whom Jesus loved" (John 13:23). He was also a fisherman like his brother James and father, Zebedee. He, like Peter and James, became the favourite disciples of Christ who worked and walked closely with Him. He became a pillar of the early church, a witness to the transfiguration of Jesus on the mountain like Peter and James. He followed Jesus very closely. He was the only apostle at the foot of the cross when Christ was being crucified. He preached so much about love - for God and others - that people refer to him as an 'Apostle of love' {1 John 4:7, 8}.

Jesus had special love for him, and he was concerned about preserving the honour of Jesus. John suffered a lot because of the gospel - he was thrown into a drum of boiling oil at one time, but he survived. Then, he was banished (forced to go) to the Isle of Patmos where he received the vision recorded in the book of Revelation. He wrote four other books of the New Testament: John's gospel, 1st, 2nd and 3rd John. He was the only disciple who died naturally at a very old age. John's life of demonstration of genuine love for God and mankind is possible for all friends of Jesus who desire it. You too can be a disciple of love like John.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, give me a heart to love You and others.
