iamMoshood:Many Flags are designed base on the historical values of the land (religion and politics), geographic features such as shape and nature of the country, and some geographical activities. Many of these African nations (mostly West African) have lost their historical values which could serve as the bases for their map. All reasoning towards green for agriculture (cos the land is fertile and primary activity), yellow for happiness and white for peace, red for love. why won’t they preach love, peace and happiness in their flags when heterogeneous people are lobbed together and forced to live as an entity by their colonial masters |

Am a Ghanaian and this originated from the flag of Ethiopia.Ethiopia was looked up upon by many African independence movements because Ethiopia was the only nation to never become a colony. Because of their refusal to fall to European powers, many African countries adopted a flag based on Ethiopia’s using red, yellow called Gold, and green. It's called the Pan-African colors,South Africa,Ghana,Senegal,Mali,Togo and other African countries use these colors to represent One Africa.Ghana was the first to adopt the colors from Ethiopia since we achieved independent first in Sub Saharan Africa(Black Africa)thus we using the Black Star representing the star of Africa progress and unity. The name Ghana was also adopted from the Great Old Ghana Empire around Mali.We were originally called Gold Coast by the Bri Colonial Masters buh we dumped that name for an African name thus Ghana. Then the rest of Africa also followed and adopted the colors. The Red represent blood and toil of our ancestors. The Yellow you see is called "Gold" representing Africa's rich natural resources and the green represent our forest and rich vegetation. I guess Nigeria needs one of those colours from the Ethiopian flag then. Our green and white is boring. 2 Likes |
