Batman arch-nemesis, Joker is an American psychological thriller film was premiered at the 76th Venice International Film Festival on August 31, 2019, where it won the Golden Lion (the highest festival prize) and was released in the United States on October 4, 2019.

Starring Joaquin Phoenix, Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler, Bill Camp, Shea Whigham, and Marc Maron. Directed by Todd Phillips, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Scott Silver based on DC Comics character.

The film depicts Joker as a failed stand-up comedian who longs for a relationship in the streets of Gotham City. He decides to wear two masks, where he paints for his day job as a clown and the disguise he projects in a fruitless attempt to feel like he’s part of the world around him.

Disregarded, isolated and bullied by society, Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix) begins a slow descent into madness as he transforms into a psychopathic criminal mastermind known as JOKER.

Joker is the first live-action Batman film to receive an R-rating from Motion Picture Association of America, due to its violent and disturbing content.

The film was produced by DC Films, Village Roadshow Pictures, Bron Creative and Joint Effort and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.
