Kogi West: INEC Declares Election Inconclusive by zamzas(m): 11:20pm On Nov 17, 2019 |
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the Kogi West senatorial rerun election inconclusive. According to the returning officer, Professor Olayinde Lawal, the margin between the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Mr. Smart Adeyemi and that of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Dino Melaye is 20,570. He announced that Mr Adeyemi polled a total of 80,118 votes, while Senator Melaye got 59,548 votes from the seven Local Government Areas in the senatorial district. Prof Lawal explained that the total margin between both candidates is lower than the 43,127 registered voters in 53 polling units of 20 registration areas in the zone where elections were canceled. The returning officer, who declared the election inconclusive said, he is constrained by law to declare a winner because of the lead margin between the leading candidates. He added that INEC will announce a new date for the conduct of a supplementary election in the 53 polling units before a winner can be returned. Below is a breakdown of how both parties performed in the seven LGA’s Kabba/Bunu LGA APC-15,037 PDP-8,974 Ijumu LGA APC-11,627 PDP-7,647 Kogi/Koton Karfe LGA APC-14,168 PDP-9,786 Mapo/Muro LGA APC-4,874 PDP-3,704 Yagba East LGA APC-6,683 PDP-7,745 Yagba West LGA APC-7,941 PDP-8,980 Lokoja LGA APC-19,788 PDP-12,712 https://www.channelstv.com/2019/11/17/breaking-kogi-west-senatorial-rerun-inec-declares-election-inconclusive/amp/ 1 Like 1 Share

This dance is becoming interesting. I pray Dino wins, not because he has personally influenced my life but at least he is vocal in the Senate and fights the lay man's common cause. 58 Likes 6 Shares |

The margin of lead is 20,570 and the total number of registered voters in the affected areas is 43,127. There is no way Dino can pull this through. Definitely, not all of the 43,127 registered voters have collected their PVCs, even if we believe that they are still all alive and have not changed location. And not all the ones that have the PVCs will turn out to cast their votes on election day. Whatever level of mobilization put in place by both parties, hardly will 20,000 of the registered voters turn out to vote. I seriously doubt if up to 20,000 voters would come out. So, how can Dino Melaye secure 20,170 votes to fill the gap between him and Smart Adeyemi? Dino knows this quite well, that's why he has taken the option of rejecting the outcome of the election outrightly. He can only participate to at least reduce the margin and hope to get the court cancel some of Adeyemi's votes and declare him winner of valid votes cast eventually. And that will be almost an impossible task for him to achieve. He himself cannot say that all of the votes he secured are valid votes. Whichever way it goes, Dino Melaye is out of the Senate for good. 87 Likes 7 Shares |

Advice to Dino: pls don’t spend a dime again. Count your losses and move on (but to where? I don’t know). Save what you have for the future. Nobody will buy those expensive cars at any good price. Thank me later 15 Likes 1 Share |

honor4me:His car collection is worth about 2 billion naira. This is a man that had no factory or business to his name and was only known as an 'anti corruption' activist before he got into politics and became an overnight billionaire like the rest of the fantastically corrupt politicians that turned the country into a shithole. 54 Likes 2 Shares |

And the government is promogateing laws to ensure when you see sure act you won't say any thing? Buhari must not destroy this Nation. 6 Likes 2 Shares |

Dino is gone, he can't get the needed votes in the supplementary poll, Registered voters 40,000 PVC collected 35,000 Average voter turnout 50%= 17,500 Margin to overcome 20,000 We can all see here that it is an almost impossible task for Dino coupled with the Yahaya Bello shenanigans, it is c'est fini for the ajeku Iya crooner 16 Likes 1 Share |
