My record is 7 tries 5 successes. I cut all networks including mtn,glo,etisalat andairtel they have all worked.
PS, I downloaded my (*.ipsw) file for jailbreaking my iphone but its in zip file and I can't open it

"google winrar download", install, select specified file and extract (desktop or somewhere u can remember)

After searching through google I found out that the computer itself hid the file extension so I couldn't change it from .zip to .ipsw

Easy. I use msdos command line to rename extensions.
Navigate to the folder using command line, then use the following command

Ren *.zip *.Ipsw

That renames all zip extensions in that folder to .ipsw

But I could no longer switch it on. Now they say I have to restore my iphone to factory settings and it requires downloading the 624mb file all over again. I don tire for this thing, I no wan jailbreak again just let me use my iphone.

Have seen it all, what is your firmware and what did u use to jailbreak, can u paster your error file here?

^^not sure what firmware your talking about but my version was 4.2.1.I used redsnow to jailbreak it. Anyway I fixed my problem by restoring my iphone. I think I'm going to wait for an easier jailbreak to come out or I'll study this method thoroughly and see what I can do tomorrow.

If u had listened earlier u wouldn't av wasted ur time. Lucky U av a
Factory unlocked fone. What happen was correct. Wen the phone hanged on cydia and didnt come up again
U shd av connected to ur system, run redsnow again and click only 'just boot tethered' it will start. But anytime u need to reboot, u do dat step on redsnow. That is d meanin if a tethered jailbreak. Or u can wait for the untethered jailbreak in January hopefully.

There's no such thing as iPhone 2. The First iPhone was called the iPhone.

all networks do but mtn and etisalat are the easiest to configure since all u have to do is put the sim, wait for a while and your iPhone is ready to access the Internet

You know your iPhone is unlocked if it read any and all sims put inside it

Ok, my iphone 3g is unlocked cos it accepts all sims, it has bin jail broken. But I was warned not 2 update d iphone, I havent because I wudnt want 2 find out d consequences. My broda gave me a flash with d opera, bolt, ifiles n street fighter 4. I den put dem in my itunes library in my laptop n transfered in2 my iphone.
Wen I requested 4 mtn gprs settings, I got a reply statin dat "Your phone cannot b automatically configured. Visit www.mtnonline.com/settings to get manual configuration settings. . . .pls, how did u configure ur mtn gprs settings. Thank u.

Go to Settings=>General=>Network and make sure cellular data is turned on along with data roaming. Then under cellular data network input mtn's APN,username and password. Save and your good to go

Just updated my 3GS to 4.21 and preserved bb on 5.13. Cool os though

you know if your device is unlocked when it takes all sim,
if u have cydia then its already jailbroken.

search for installous and winterboard from this particular source( hackulo.us) and install, go back to cydia after the system has rebooted and navigate to the theme section, install anyone, go to winterboard and select the theme you installed and your device will reboot applying your new theme.
