I would only be uncomfortable if most of the faces in my field of vision happen to be ugly. On a serious note, with aircraft carrying far fewer passengers, the price of air tickets in all fare categories, will go through the roof after the contagion burns out, making air travel the preserve of the wealthy once again, while consigning thousands of passenger jets to that aluminium recycling airplane graveyard in the Arizona desert.

Perhaps video conferencing will render obsolete most business travel, especially since the Chinese fondness for bat eating and biological weapon experimentation is unlikely to abate any time soon, meaning new and interesting pathogens are very likely to "escape" from the usual suspects, as the coming years roll by.

For air travel, I would prefer sitting to face the direction of travel, so I'd probably be charged extra to sit facing the same direction as the pilots, if this new seating configuration comes to pass..

Another possible design is for each sit to have curtains on both sides. Transparent material should be used to create curtains to make each passenger feel comfortable in their own sit without being afraid of any contamination from their neighbours.
