Follow the solutions below to get back to making a sale in POS.

Solution 1. Edit the contents of the QBPOS Shell folder
End QBPOSShell task
On your keyboard, press Ctrl + Alt + Delete, then select Task Manager.
Go to the Processes tab, then highlight QBPOS Shell.
Select End Task.
Show hidden folders
Go to the Windows Start menu.
Type in "file explorer", then select the File Explorer icon.
Go to the View tab, then select the Hidden items checkbox.
Rename the QBPOS Shell folder
Browse to C:\Users\{User logged on}\AppData\Local\Intuit.
Open the (QBPOSshell.exe_URL...) folder that has the latest modified date.
Right-click on user.config file, then select Rename.
Rename the file to “user.configold”.
Close the window, then re-open QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale.
Solution 2. Create a new Windows admin
Create a local user account
Go to the Windows Start ⊞ button, then select Settings ⚙.
Select Accounts, then Family & other users (Other users).
Select Add someone else to this PC.
Select I don’t have this person’s sign-in information.
On the next page, select Add a user without a Microsoft account.
Enter a username and password, then select Next.
Change the local user account to admin
Go to the Windows Start ⊞ button, then select Settings ⚙.
Select Accounts, then Family & other users (Other users).
Select the username you created earlier, then Change account type.
Under Account type, select Administrator then OK.
Sign in as admin.
Open QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale.
