The Vice-Chancellor of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State, Professor Sunday Elom, has assured the National Universities Commission’s accreditation panels that visited the University of his Utter Commitment to the implementation of all their recommendations in order to turn-out graduates that meet the demands of the 21st century economy.

The Vice-Chancellor stated this on Tuesday during the exit meeting with the NUC accreditation panels that were in the University for the purpose of assessing her two Engineering programmes – Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering.



Earlier while presenting their exit reports to Professor Elom and members of the University Management, the leaders of the panels, Professors Abdu Salihi and Ade Ajayi, commended the University for the efforts it has put in to reposition the two programmes, adding that there were remarkable improvements in terms of equipment, staffing etc in relation to what was on ground in the last accreditation visit.

They also stressed the importance of giving special and prioritized attention to the programmes, especially Mechatronics Engineering. According to Professor Ade-Ajayi, the programme is relatively a new field of study in Engineering, adding that AE-FUNAI is one of the few universities in Nigeria where Mechatronics Engineering is being studied, and advised the University Management to give it prioritized attention.

Meanwhile, the University is presenting 8 programmes for NUC accreditation this year. The programmes are MBBS, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science, Geology, Guidance and Counseling, Education Foundation and Religion.

Recall also that the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria had visited the University on Tuesday, 9th March, 2021 for the accreditation of her MBBS programme, when they also commended the University for putting in place the necessary human and material resources in the College.
