Arabic nights , it's always a touch of Romance and adventure . The night that turned what I assumed to be a SAGA into a love story . Why did I let go In Primary 4B , Mr Okoro told me that "where you are fighting from determines your victory" . To me , fighting an already made guy in diaspora as a struggling Onitsha main market man would be a lame quest . His flight cost alone would buy my shop Should we blame her ? NO , the dream of an average nigerian girl is to eradicate poverty from her Family . Tonny is doing well in Netherlands , While the only thing I can boast of is a half shop in main market . Don't see it as inferiority complex on my side, we are talking about her . I trust I would make it , but maybe she believed otherwise . Oya , what Happened on that Night The traffic was heavy , moving from main market to my house was like going from Egypt to Jerusalem . Despite the fact that I knew we were going to call it off, I still didn't want to keep her waiting . I took a quick bath, while waiting for Nduka my favourite Abakeleke Keke rider . Thank God he hasn't killed me yet, he drives Keke like Okada . Anyways he doesn't charge much . Everyone likes his neatly packaged and well decorated Keke . The coloured lights , reddish leather sit and the sound system in his Keke has made him the choice for everyone Ok 15 mins later , I didn't see Nduka . I felt something was wrong . He usually responds in 15 minutes , irrespective of where you are calling him from . I didn't want to keep waiting, I had to start trecking towards the direction I assumed Nduka would come from It was a busy night in our street , the street lights were on . You can clearly see the face of anyone trying to play smart on your bag . I saw the smiles on the faces of the women making weekend sales too The first person I noticed was 'mama Uju' , the Tomato seller . She is generous and liberal in her sales . Her Jara will always outrun the usual . According to my friends , her daughter is more generous . She gives freely to them without charges . I can't say for sure, life to me is like cafeteria, I pay before I eat . Oga you are deviating , ehe ? Oh, don't blame me , Nduka caused it . I was already 30 mins behind schedule . He was yet to arrive in his Keke . So I continued trecking . Musa waved at me in excitement as usual , he is one of my fans in our street . He already sold off all his Sugarcane . A northernan that loves me without reason . Countless times has he casted more sugarcane into my bags than I paid for . Maybe because I promised to buy him a new wheel barrow . Eleka didn't wave at me as usual , I was yet to remit both the bottle of coke I took from his shop and the money for it . Elaka does'nt have credit book, but he forgets no debt . He is a typical Nnewi man , he doesn't joke with his money . I hate indebtedness anyways , it ruins friendship . It was already 9pm when Nduka arrived . Nora has already called to announce that she has left crunchies . I couldnt blame her, She waited for two hours. I couldn't blame Nduka either , traffic was heavy at Nkpor Junction . I motioned Nduka towards Elaka's shop . I bought him a bottle of Hero , gave him 500 and bid him and his Keke adieu . I quickly paid Elaka for the drink together with the Coke I took a night before and headed home . On getting to my apartment , I quickly motioned Aunty Judith to serve me airtime . I like the spirit at which she runs her enterprise, despite the fact that it was a kiosk . Countless times has she offered me plates of rice on Sundays . She likes the fact that I don't get visited by random ladies . Just as I was about reacharging , her text entered . It read " Noni I'm done with you " She married Tonny , she would be moving to Netherlands soon and I am happy for her . To her , it's a dream come true. To me , it's a motivation to work harder With love from main market Onitsha 1 Like 1 Share |

The title of your tale should be Heartbroken. I saw the way you made the sadness in you trivial and the beauty in the way you digressed countless times as you sought for a resting place for your worries. Move on bro, nobody is worth your tears. Date like you are expecting nothing. cc: mynd44, Dominque lalasticlala |
