Nigeria’s burgeoning tech ecosystem has been described as “the new oil” in several quarters –and for good reason as well.

In the last couple of years, start-ups owned by young Nigerians have grown from scratch to become billion-dollar businesses, while attaining the status of Unicorns.

A unicorn describes a privately held start-up with a value of over $1 billion.

These tech start-ups currently employ hundreds of young Nigerians and have served as inspiration for many other young people.

On October 15, 2020, American e-payment services company, Stripe, acquired Paystack–a Nigerian startup–for over $200 million (N76 billion).
