Igbos - The Apple of Buhari's Eyes

Since 2015, there has been sustained propaganda that Buhari does not love
Igbos this is despite the fact that the President has not treated other Southern groups better than Igbos.

The authors of this orchestration are firstly the Oduduwa Media who since the Civil War era have sustained a promotion of schism between the Ibo' and the FULANI and see it as basis of political enhancement of the Yoruba nation in modern era Nigeria politics. Perhaps this is an offshoot of the fear of the FULANO - IBO Alliances of the First & Second Republics that saw the Yoruba relegated to the background of Nigeria politics.

The second manipulators are the Biafran agitators who are also a continuum of the Civil war pro - Biafra agitation that paint the Hausa - FULANI as the ultimate enemy of Biafra and their goals.

Now, it is on record that no Nigeria government has done more for the SE than the present Buhari Administration yet the Administration is vilified at every opportunity by the anti - Buhari Administration.

PresIdent Buhari met Dr Godwin Emefiele, an Ibo from Delta and retained him. The CBN Governor is still there till date.

PresIdent Buhari appointed Dr Ibe Kachikwu as Minister of State for Petroleum in his first tenure. The technocrat from Onicha - Ugbo in the SS remained in that position till the end of Buhari's first tenure.

Governor Chibuike Amechi has been Minister of Transport since the beginning of the Buhari Administration. He is Igbo' of Ikwerre Extraction from Rivers state .CRA as he is widely known is the right hand of Mr President and twice the Chairman of his Campaign team.

The immediate past DG of NIMASA is an Igbo' from Opobo in Rivers state.

The DG Budget and Planning of the Federal, Dr Ben Akabueze is another Igbo' who is foundational in stabilizing this Administration.

These are only a tip of the iceberg, there are many more but the cream in the icing is the appointment of General Lucky Onyenankeya Irabor as the new Chief of Defence Staff. By that appointment, the Ibo' General from IKA, Delta state is the Head of Nigeria Security Apparatchik.

Despite this, we are inundated with criticisms of how the President has no Ibo' in his Security team. Please what demands greater security than the Finances and Military of a country?

We wish to thank PresIdent Goodluck Jonathan for designating the Enugu Local Airport as the Akanu Ibiam International Airport. However, history shall be kind to President Buhari who successfully up graded the local infrastructure into international facilities . When PresIdent Buhari closed down the Airport for renovations, critics were sure it was punitive. PresIdent Buhari and Minister Hadi Sitka were accused of conspiring to deny the geopolitical zone of their God- given Airport.

For many years, the building of the Second Niger Bridge remained in the pipelines. The project has remained in the front burners of intended constructions for about 50years. PresIdent Buhari has almost concluded this all important bridge in the life of Nigeria.

I also want to say, kudos to this Administration for Building the PH - Opobo Highway. One of my good friends just drove to his hometown of Opobo for the very first time. I also hear that the PH - Bonny may soon be completed. On NTA, I saw Minister Raji Fashola talking about completion of the projects. These are strategic projects that have been neglected by previous Administrations.

We urge Mr President to continue to do only the very best for Nigeria especially the Ibos. There definitely is so much to do but with perseverance, we shall all shout hurray.

One area that the PresIdent must look at is the terrible state of inter state roads in the SE and the abysmal power supply.. A determination to correct these obvious problems shall endear people of the zone to Mr President.
