KOGI 2023: SPEAKER Kolawole GOES BERSERK, HOBNOBBING BOTH APC AND PDP IN DESPERATE MOVE FOR REPS, HOLDING SECRET MEETING WITH IBRO FAMILY


As the race towards 2023 gets closer, political mudslinging and machinations appears to be getting tougher as aspirants begins to show unexpected political wit and style across the nation. of particular interest is the current Speaker of Kogi State house of Assembly, Hon Mathew Kolawole, an avowed supporter and loyalist of the Governor of Kogi state, Alh Yahaya Bello, who was spotted in Abuja in a meeting with the inner members of the Ibro Family at the Zone 5 popular Ibro Hotel Abuja owned by the former Governor of Kogi state and leader of the People's Democratic Party in Kogi state over the weekend at about two pm. The Speaker who sneaked into the hotel without the usual retinue of aides he is known to be going around with was said to be there for yet to be confirmed political reasons. Hon Kolawole who is typically known for double standards in politics isn't doing this for the first time, he was accused in 2019 of deliberately abandoning the All Progressives Congress Senatorial and house of representatives candidates, Senator Smart Adeyemi and Hon Wemi Jones to seal secret alliance and alignment with the only PDP house of representatives member in the Kogi state as at the time of election, all in a desperate attempt to return back to the Kogi state house of Assembly. He cleverly stole and sold his party thereby becoming the only APC candidate that won in Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal constituency.

He stayed in the private office of the first son off the former Governor, Alh Abubakar Ibrahim where he had meeting that lasted for about thirty minutes shortly after which the former Kogi State accountant General, Elder Ubolo Okpanachi entered the same office for yet to be confirmed reason. If the selfish and desperate Hon Kolawole could betray his party candidates in 2019, it will be a self deceit to assume he is not planning same ahead of the coming 2023 general election.

Before the said meeting with the PDP members, an anonymous member of his entourage has hinted that same Speaker, who claims to be a loyalist of Governor Yahaya Bello had secret meeting with the member representing Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency, Hon Hassan Baiwa, sources who was privy to the issues discussed at the meeting said the meeting centred on possibility of strong alliance of Igala and Okun for both Hon Hassan Baiwa and Hon Mathew Kolawole against the Governor's interest for the 2024 governorship election. The anonymous source said he was shocked to hear that the Speaker who is still seeking house of representatives ticket could begin early enough to betray the party and leadership that offer him succour when he was going to political relegation.

The moment Hon Kolawole Mathew returned to Lokoja, he began the process of causing division in the peaceful Kabba/Bunu Legislative council by deceiving councilors that he had instructions from the Governor for the council in Kabba/Bunu to endorse the Governor for President, a scheming he deliberately and selfishly orchestrated to get the councilors endorse his inordinate ambition to become the next house of representatives member for the federal constituency.

It was later gathered that eight councilors out of fifteen boycotted the fake endorsement, the true situation as well recorded revealed that only three councilor were ready to support his ambition as the remaining four threatened to make a press release against his ambition as they were cajoled to the meeting believing that they were coming to endorse Governor Yahaya Bello for President alone. The speaker who dolled out one hundred thousand each to the councilors was said to be very angry at his Special Adviser on Political matters and the Deputy Council leader who were in charge had actually deceived him to believe that ten councilors were coming to endorse. The Speaker was quoted to be sad and expressed disappointment that a number three man in the state could not mobilize half of the councilors in his own LGA
