Bandits have killed five people in Barkeji village in the Kaura Namoda Local Government Area in Zamfara State.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the hoodlums also carted away domestic animals and food items.

An indigene of the area, Abdullahi Mohammed, said the victims were killed on Sunday night, when the bandits attacked the village.

Mohammed said the bandits arrived at the village on motorcycles and shot five people dead.
He said, “They also injured one other person, who is currently in a hospital receiving treatment.

“Many people, including myself, escaped into the bush.

“They broke into our houses and shops, from where they took animals and food items.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Mohammed Shehu, could not be reached for comments as of press time.
