nakoks: With regards to Nigeria, i would say they are oo. Which other company is better? Maybe they are slacking now but i know they are responsible for most of our long lasting roads and infrastructure. I beieve eko bridge and all those long and old structures were constructed by them. Please don't mention HITECH because i am yet to see em build a long lasting 30yr old road or bridge. |

Another resounding thread, an echo of so many. Tomorrow its another road, another refinery, another power station. We keep on chasing the same thing over and over again. Said this model just wouldn't work and we will be discussion road repairs all the days of our lives. Over to Julius Berger yet again. At least they have a yard close by in Apapa probably because they know the road so well (they fix it time and again) and know us (our resolute conviction on allocation and contracting as over path to development). But privately I'm sure if we all have buildings, cars, gadgets that breakdown repeatedly we won't have found a lasting solution to either do away with the mechanic or do away with the item of pain. |

That is one road that doesn't make any sense. IMHO, that building that road in the first place was a horrible mistake. The port is better served by a heavy goods rail system, roads are not up to scratch for heavy use (especially over reclaimed marshland). It was a grand error by the original planners. Perhaps that road needs to be closed to heavy transport, while rail system dedicated to heavy haulage are planned and built. In the meantime, weight needs to be lifted off the Lagos ports, goods can also be brought in through Warri and Portharcourt and transported up the Niger River for central distribution; it just makes more sense and will be way cheaper. It will take years to fix the errors of the past, and shouting wouldn't get us anywhere. Nigeria desperately needs to develope our rail systems and inland water ways as cheap routes for goods distribution. |

You can see this project on www.iwatchlive.org and make your comments effective. Let's hold the government accountable. We are all watching. It is high time we got involved in governance somehow even it is by starting this way peacefully and well-focused. You don't need to be in the office to change this country. Focus your anger into creative channels and we will see the change we desire in this country! |
