How Can CBD Help Your Anxious Dog Live Their Best Life?
If you're a dog owner, chances are you've seen your pup get anxious at some point. Pet parents know that their furry friends can be scared of loud noises like thunderstorms and fireworks, but they can also suffer from separation anxiety and social anxiety—and that can make life miserable for both of you.

But what if there were a way to help your pup feel calmer? What if there was something you could do to make them feel better?

Well, there is! If you want to help your dog deal with his or her anxiety, CBD dog treats may be the answer. CBD is a non-intoxicating compound found in cannabis that has been shown to be effective against a number of different types of anxiety in humans and animals alike. CBD oil has been shown to help reduce anxiety in dogs, and we're here to tell you how it works and why it's safe for your pup.
Why Do Dogs Get Anxious?
Dogs can experience anxiety just like humans do, and it can manifest itself in a variety of ways.
They may have behavioral issues or act fearfully aggressive. Unfortunately this can be very dangerous if you don’t have control over your dog and they act out by biting a stranger or another dog. It can be frustrating to see your dog—who's normally so happy and energetic—cowering under the table at a loud noise, or cowering in your lap when someone new comes over. It's even more frustrating when you're at a loss for how to help them feel better. When it comes to helping your dog feel less anxious, CBD is a great option.

Here are several examples of factors that can contribute to dog anxiety:
Loud noises
Fireworks, thunderstorms and car horns, oh my! These loud sounds can scare your dog into acting out in ways you may not expect. Some dogs will try to hide or escape from the sound by running away or barking uncontrollably. Others may be less sure of themselves and become more submissive towards other dogs or people around them. It's no surprise that dogs are a little sensitive to loud noises. After all, they can hear sounds that are much lower than we can even perceive, so it makes sense that they might be a little more sensitive than us to loud noises.

Separation anxiety
You may notice that they bark or howl when you leave the house. They may also misbehave while you’re away (think trash can rummaging or couch shredding). This can happen if your dog has learned to associate your leaving with being abandoned. This is called "separation anxiety," where your dog feels anxious about being alone because he doesn't know what will happen next when you're gone.
Social anxiety
Where they get aggressive with other dogs or people they don't know. Or maybe they're just too scared to go on walks with other dogs or people. Social anxiety in dogs is a real thing. If you've ever had a dog that is scared of other dogs, or if you've ever had to take your pup out in public and she just freaks out and needs to be carried the whole time, it's probably because she has social anxiety.
Unfamiliar places
Think of taking your dog with you on an airplane to go visit your friend in Florida? Many dogs will not react well to such a drastic change in environment.
How Exactly Does CBD Work?
How does CBD work? Basically, CBD works by stimulating the endocannabinoid system. This system is found in both humans and dogs and helps regulate a wide range of physiological processes like appetite and sleep. When our bodies are stressed out—whether from a thunderstorm or from being left alone at home—the endocannabinoid system becomes unbalanced and we experience symptoms like anxiety, depression, and pain. CBD helps rebalance this system by interacting with cannabinoid receptors in the brain to promote relaxation and reduce inflammation.

CBD stands for cannabidiol and is one of the many cannabinoids found in cannabis. Unlike THC, which is the most well-known cannabinoid and causes psychoactive effects, CBD does not cause any psychoactive effects. This makes it an appealing choice for people who are looking for ways to help their pets feel less anxious without making them high. CBD is a compound found in the hemp plant. It can be extracted from hemp and used as an oil or in capsules. CBD works by binding to receptors on cells and altering their functioning, which can amazingly reduce anxiety in your dog.

CBD has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce inflammation throughout the body—including in the brain—which have been linked with decreased levels of anxiety. This helps restore balance to your pup's system so that he or she feels more comfortable with what's going on around them!

Is CBD Safe For My Dog?
If you have a dog, you know that they can be anxious at times. Separation anxiety and social anxiety affect many dogs. They can also be affected by other factors like moving to a new home and loud noises from thunderstorms or fireworks. When it comes to anxiety, dogs are just like us.

Is CBD safe for dogs? Yes! There haven't been any studies done specifically on whether or not CBD is safe for dogs yet because there isn't enough research around cannabis' effects on companion animals (and there's still some stigma around cannabis use in general). In reality, more than 20% of US households have pets—and many of those pet owners are using CBD for their furry friends' health problems. It has been shown to be safe for dogs when used at recommended doses, but should always be administered under supervision by a veterinarian or other qualified professional.
