That was the question Jordan asked Mel.

Last night, I was watching Charmed, a TV series.

Two of the main characters, Jordan and Mel were trying to solve a puzzle on how to save the world from the destruction coming.

Maggie, Mel's younger sister had a vision of the destruction which was about to unleash and destroy the world in 12 hours.

Unfortunately, the prey was their father and they had to figure out how to save him and also save the world.

They needed to find where the ritual will take place to stop it.

She was frustrated and vented out to Jordan how she used to be a very powerful time witch but now has no idea how to time travel and prevent the disaster.

She felt time was moving too fast and she keeps falling deeply behind.

"How do you eat an elephant?" Jordan asked her.

"Why would anyone want to eat...? " she asked

Jordan shook his head in agreement interrupting her

"No one will, it's insane." He said

"How would you eat an elephant?" He asked again.

"By taking one bite at a time.

"Because if you think about eating the whole animal, it's overwhelming.

"But if you think one bite at a time." He concluded.

Mel got the message as she nodded her head in agreement.

What Desmond Tutu meant by this statement "Eating an elephant one bite at a time" is that every task in life that appears to be difficult, overwhelming, or even impossible can be achieved gradually by taking it on little by little.

A step at a time.

How do you achieve a big goal?

By making progress in small steps over time.

By doing it the SMART way; setting goals in steps and gradually accomplishing it by taking it on, one step at a time.

By SMART way I mean :

Specific

Be clear about what you want to achieve. Working toward a clear goal is considerably simpler than working toward an unclear one.

Measurable

Set a goal that will enable you to track your progress toward accomplishing it.

Attainable

Set attainable goals. Setting a goal that is too big is one of the biggest barriers to achievement. You don't want to take on more than you can handle, so give your goals some thought and make sure it's acceptable and realistic.

If you want to earn 8 figures, you have to set a goal to make 6 figures first, then 7, and then 8.

Increase your chances of realizing your dreams by adding reality into your planning.

Relevant

Choose a goal that has a personal meaning to you. No matter how big or small your goals are, achieving them requires effort. You'll be more likely to maintain motivation along the road if you pick a goal that you're passionate about and genuinely want to accomplish.

Time-Bound

Decide on a deadline and stick to it! Setting deadlines for your goals is a good way to hold yourself responsible and ensure that you remain focused and on target.

Zig Ziglar once said “a goal properly set is halfway reached.”

Every task can be accomplished, if taken one step at a time.

Read Genesis 1 for an example of eating an elephant in 6 portions.
