The execution of Ken Saro Wiwa on November 10, 1995, remains one of the darkest moments in Nigeria's history.

The renowned writer and environmental activist was a thorn in the flesh of the Nigerian government, particularly the military regime led by General Sani Abacha. His campaign against the exploitation and degradation of the Ogoni people's land by multinational oil companies made him a target of the government. Abacha's government saw Saro-Wiwa as a threat to their interests and silenced him through the legal system.

A brave warrior in the eye of an enemy's sword

Abacha and Shell company will never be forgiven by the ogoni ppl for what they did to Ken Saro-Wiwa. Till today they're still suffering exploitation by the oil companies.

Will good ever thrive over evil? Nothing seems to have changed. Did he die in vain?

He offended the spirit of justice and of consistency. He helped the enemy to kill his brothers and belatedly tried to revive the cause he killed his brothers for.
