Dangote Refinery - This Economy Is About To EXPLODE Into Prosperity by Rostikol: 2:31am On May 23, 2023 |
The more I research this refinery, the more amazing it is in terms of its salutary effects on the Nigerian economy going forward. It ticks every box. Supplies 100% of Nigeria's refined petroleum requirements, adds 21 billion dollars in revenue to the economy each year, makes Nigeria by far Africa's biggest producer and exporter of refined petroleum products and petrochemicals with zero competition, and saves 20 billion dollars previously used in importing refined fuel each year. So we're talking around 40 to 50 billion dollars annual benefit to the economy. We haven't even added the multiplier effect - the snowball effect - of so much money floating around in terms of new businesses, industries, and jobs. If you do, we're talking a minimum 100 billion dollars added to annual GDP. It's a friggin' game-changer by any measurement. I've read one expert go so far as to say that this project on its own officially makes Nigeria an industrialised country. Here's the thing. Here is how it impacts you, even if you're not into oil and gas business. If you ever had a business idea in mind, ANY BUSINESS IDEA, its chances of succeeding just increased by a minimum 70%. Because, as this refinery is CERTAIN to increase annual GDP in the years ahead by a HUGE margin, the market for your business is ASSURED, so long as you know what you're doing. DEMAND IS ASSURED. And we're talking long-term here. Where do you want your business to be in the next 10 years? 20 years? Its chances of HUGE success are a lot BRIGHTER today, following the opening of the world's largest single train refinery in Lagos. One more thing. The SIEMENS POWER DEAL is on course, and probably in the next 2 to 3 years, power cuts would be a thing of the past in Nigeria. Plan your hustle well, and you will succeed in the NEW NIGERIA. Thanks all. 7 Likes |

Pwettylinda: So what will Tinubu do exactly? Order Dangote to pay him a cut of his annual revenue? You greatly overestimate the powers of a Nigerian president. All Tinubu can do is support the refinery to meet its goals. He cannot try anything else. 3 Likes |

Dangote launches Africa’s biggest oil refinery... ....Reduced oil import dependence The most notable impact of Dangote refinery will be the increase in local refinery capacity, which will reduce imports. Dangote refinery is expected to help Nigeria meet 100% of it’s refined petroleum product needs (gasoline, 72 million litres per day; diesel, 34 million litres per day; kerosene, 10 million litres per day and aviation jet, 2 million litres per day), with surplus products for the export market. The refined petroleum output from the refinery in combination with other refineries in Nigeria is expected to meet the shortfall of the estimated daily consumption of 72 million litres of petrol. The country has faced several fuel shortages in the past, which have caused prices to surge for transport and basic commodities. Recent fuel shortages have been blamed on the Russia-Ukraine war. The price of imported fuel rose more than 100%. Importers operated at a loss due to price ceilings set by the government. Besides eliminating import dependency, the Dangote refinery can potentially reduce Nigeria’s crude oil export dependency as more crude oil will be refined domestically. Refining crude oil locally will enable the country pay for the refined product in naira which will save scarce foreign exchange and generate revenue in exported refined petroleum products. Support for allied industries The establishment of the refinery is also likely to help reduce the cost of production for industries that rely on petroleum products such as diesel to power their operations. In turn, this should increase their competitiveness in the global market while promoting local industry capabilities. The refinery could also create an environment for allied industries to emerge in and around it. For instance, businesses in transport, housing and telecommunications will benefit from the construction and operations of the refinery. And the refinery should create jobs and entrepreneurship opportunities. While under construction, the refinery employed about 40,000 workers – 29,000 Nigerians and 11,000 foreigners. The jobs were in engineering, construction, manufacturing and operations, among other areas. In full operation, the refinery, according to media reports, is expected to create over 250,000 direct and indirect jobs. https://theconversation.com/dangote-launches-africas-biggest-oil-refinery-4-ways-it-will-affect-nigeria-205685 1 Like |

Rather they chose to invest 20% in Dangote.. That 20% money could have fixed all the refineries in the country and created job opportunities. ebenezary: One thing to learn from Dangote in this project is how as a businessman you should make other's problems your problems. Subsidy, fuel scarcity, importation of fuel are problems Nigeria has had to deal with since the 90s, Dangote made those problems his own and in the end, the govt HAS NO option but to support him and ensure his success as it is the govts success. A lot has been resting on the coming on stream of this refinery. Govts want to pursue one policy or another but they couldn't due to multiple factors, now this refinery make it possible for them as it takes care of most of those factors. That's very smart thinking. 1 Like |

Ogene001: You guys are becoming annoying with your r.etarded talk that shows many of you have become cursed to die with loser and poverty mentality. Did you miss OP's lucid and logical submissions of how the refinery will directly contributes to the income, development and growth of Nigeria? Crucially, and most importantly, Dangote refinery solves our perennial problem of inability to refine our crude in Nigeria to meet domestic need and destroy subsidy payments robbing Nigeria of many billions that can be deployed towards capital spending. How is that difficult for any adult to grasp? It seems the loser and poverty mentality in some of you is too entrenched to allow you celebrate what a smart kid of six would realize is a great, nationally beneficial and game-changing development. 1 Like |

sunboy: Indeed and to the point of even exercerbating their own mental r.etardation. OP has eloquently highlighted all the socio-economic benefit of the new refinery all normal Nigeria are right to be excited over. How, for example, can any adult who has spent a reasonable lenght of time in Nigeria not appreciate how great it would be for fuel scarcity to be a thing of the past? Can they not appreciate how crippling fuel subsidy payment is and the attendant socio-economic benefit Nigeria will gain from it's permanent cessation? Employment nko? Direct and indirect job? We could go on all day but some simply want to talk doom, gloom and misery when successful names like Dangote, Tinubu etal are mentioned because they have loser, poverty and envy mentality. A sbane for them and for Nigeria. 2 Likes |
