In its continuous remarkable effort to combat transformer vandalism and enhance safety in the community, the Muhydeen Okunlola Kayode (MOK) Foundation has distributed 20 solar-powered street lights to strategically safeguard transformers in communities within Offa, Kwara State.

Transformer vandalism has remained a persistent challenge in the communities, leading to power outages and significant financial losses for electricity consumers. To address this issue proactively, the MOK Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to community development, took a significant step towards protecting vital electricity infrastructure in Offa.

The MOK Foundation on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 handed over 20 solar-powered street lights to local leaders and communities representatives. These street lights, equipped with modern technology, are designed to illuminate areas surrounding transformers, making them less susceptible to vandalism and theft.

Speaking on the donation, Mr. Muhydeen Okunlola Kayode, founder of the MOK Foundation, expressed his organization's commitment to ensuring the uninterrupted supply of electricity to the community. He emphasized the importance of proactive measures to secure infrastructure against criminal activities and called for community members' support in preserving these assets.

Mr. Muhydeen who was represented by Saheed Lawal, said: "the distribution of the solar-powered street lights is expected to be a game-changer for the Offa community. Beyond simply deterring vandals, the illuminated areas will enhance safety and security, allowing residents to navigate and utilize public spaces more confidently during the night.

"The MOK Foundation's ongoing commitment to sustainable community development and its proactiveness in addressing critical issues such as transformer vandalism have further solidified its reputation as a catalyst for positive change in Offa and beyond. With their noble efforts, it is believed that more residents in Offa will experience improved electricity services and increased safety in the future.

"As the solar-powered street lights continue to brighten the streets of Offa, the Muhydeen Okunlola Kayode (MOK) Foundation encourages other organizations and individuals to join hands in the collective effort to protect and advance communities nationwide," he said.

Community leaders have hailed the MOK Foundation's endeavor and expressed their gratitude for the organization's generous contribution. Many community members have lauded the initiative, expressing their hope that it will serve as an example for other groups and individuals to actively participate in safeguarding community infrastructure.
